Tell us 5 weapons you would like to see
There you go. Already one of the 5.
I’d rather see a special weapon added for each class. Something they and only they can use, with special things to do in order to craft and/or upgrade it.
Mesmer: Crystal Ball
Necromancer: Scythe
Elementalist: Rune Blade
Ranger: Claw Blades (pair)
Engineer: 1 handed Hammer
Thief: Whip
Warrior: 2 handed Axe
Guardian: Flail
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
I’d rather see more weapon skills added first, rather than new weapons :P
The two that come to my mind are 2 handed axes and Fist weapons (imagine things like claw blades, as Palador mentioned, metallic cloves to punch things, electrified gloves for engineers, things like that).
However, I think many new weapons could be possible just with creative use of existing weapons giving them access to other classes.
For example, a mace would be a great 1 handed hammer for an engineer, and actually there are some mace skins already that look like hammers, and some that feel like they would be perfect for an engineer:
http://www.argos-soft.net/GW2/WeaponGallery/index.php?weapon=7&skinID=100dd74&lang=en
http://www.argos-soft.net/GW2/WeaponGallery/index.php?weapon=7&skinID=1010ca6&lang=en
http://www.argos-soft.net/GW2/WeaponGallery/index.php?weapon=7&skinID=1048af8&lang=en
(ok, maybe that last one wouldn’t be engineer specific)
Also, for caster classes, I’d let them use focus as a main hand weapon, there are already many things there that would look great as a caster weapon, like scrolls, books, skulls, chandeliers, chalices, keys, voodoo dolls and so on.
Scythes, for example, could be done with staves, IMHO. Necromancers already have the shadowy scythe thing with the staves, if a scythe is introduced as a weapon, like, for example, a dervish class added (please please please please), it would be easy to give them access to staves as melee weapons, with a magic glowy scythe blade appearing on it. Of course, it should be tweaked so that if you’re using a staff skin that already looks like a scythe (the halloween scythe or final rest), you’d just get a glow appearing over the “blade” section instead.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.

Sure I guess, just so they are obtainable in the game and not 600 gems a pop in gem store
Guardian: Longbow
I NEED TO USE AETHER E_E
Hi i would like to see 2hand axes in this game… and yes scythes for necros would be awesome, they would look like grimm reapers (bad kitten ). For the guardian polearms/ spears to use them in combination with shields (Praetorian style,300 style looking bad kitten. For the other classes i leave it to the others….
My suggestions for the 2H axe:
F1 – (Execute) you wuold do some damage(based on your level) + for every adrenalin bar you woud do more damege of enemys missing health…. like …. 1Arenalin Bar would give you a 10% bonus damage to you base damge of enemys missing healt, 2AB = 20% and 3AB=30%
1a – axe swing from above
1b – axe swing from the right
1c – axe thrust(something like pushing back the enemy) / hitting with the handle of the axe from left(maybe give a stun or daze)
(I think that the axes should stack bleed , … 2h maces do woulnerability or could do… well its hard to say because i think about cripling too but what benefit would it giwe in PvE… )
2 – aoe swing in front of the caster 180degree, range maybe 2-3m / 360 aoe(the caster would swing the axe in a 360 arc, not like axe/axe whirlwind, only once)
3 – (single target) weapon throwing – the caster throws his weapon after the enemy (the axe would fly straight after the enemy or in a path and it will not spin, and it stops after hiting the first enemy) u need to aim the path of the weapon
4- you hit the enemy so hard you scare the …. out of the other enemys, and they run away in fear / cripple – the enemy is crippled and cant run away
5- Enrage – (something like “hundred blades”) the caster enters a berserker state swinging his axe damaging all enemys in frint of him … / he hist a single enemy rapidly (maybe 4-6 times, you need to stand ground or you break the channeling)
PS: i apologize for my bad english …
I’d love to have my Urgoz Longbow back.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
I’d like to see:
- Underwater weapons (Spear, Harpoon Gun, Trident) usable on land, with new skills
- Existing weapons brought to more professions (Rifles for Rangers? Longbows for Elementalists?)
- New weapon types (Whip, Boomerang, 2H Greataxe, Fists/Claws)
I’d rather see a special weapon added for each class. Something they and only they can use
I don’t see this being a good use of resources, not to mention the exclusivity of the weapon type would forever cripple its place in the in-game economy and variety of skins compared to other weapons that more professions can use.
In practical terms, the goal is the same as any other weapon — get a new set of 5 main skills. This can be accomplished with anything — tying it to a profession-exclusive item serves no purpose.
…with special things to do in order to craft and/or upgrade it.
You’re thinking like a Level 80. How do starting/leveling characters get access to these weapons? Why should it be more of a hassle for them to get these “special” ones? In order to justify this distinction, these profession-specific weapons would have to be clearly superior in some way — and making one weapon blatantly better than others is a terrible idea.
People need access to their full selection of skills and options, in order to learn their profession. If you make it hard for people to access this weapon while leveling, they won’t bother with it. It’s far better to integrate new ideas with the rest of the game in a harmonious way, rather than keep things separate.
I’d like to see a 2H-sword, a suspiciously wriggling tentacle with the colors of purple/green, which has a pixelated cat as a handle and makes a pop-noise every time you hit something with it. Also smoky particle effects like in tequatl weapons.
I’d call it “Insanity Poppins”, named after mary poppins.
… 2H-axes, scythes and whips would be nice too I suppose.
This should be my top 5 list:
- Halberd (two-handed): Guardian, Elementalist, Ranger.
- Greataxe (two-handed): Warrior, Necromancer.
- Sickle (one-handed): Necromancer, Thief, Mesmer.
- Flail (one-handed): Warrior, Engineer. Because engi totally needs melee weapons.
- Crossbow (two-handed, ranged): Ranger, Thief, Engineer.
Also, javelin would be a cool one-handed ranged weapon.

I miss GW1 skill system. Dozen builds for each class.
A longbow that works?
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
Another one of these threads. ;o
atm probably;
1. Claws/Fists Weapons/Tonfas
2. Cannons (like the one that aetherblade boss uses)
3. Crossbows
4. 2 Handed Greatshields/ Dual Shields https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8w8KL2C7ofQ#t=440
5. Whips
Honorable Mention: Spears on Land.
I want hadouken for my elementalist, that’s all.
Torch Guardians stole the Hadouken.
(edited by Doggie.3184)
1) Halberds
2) Chakrams
3) Whips
4) Great Axes
5) Claws
Things that don’t exist or wouldnt make much sense:
- Two Handed Shields (seriously ..get more realistic …)
- Two Handed Whips (seriously, can it get any weirder here oO)
- Claw Blades (If it is what I think what you meant, then this is called a Katar!!)
- Double Sabers (Just give Swords a Saber Skin, done …)
- Katana (again , just give Swords and Greatswords Reskins for either Wakizashi or Nodachi Katanas ect.)
- Boomerang (Could be just a Chakram Reskin,)
(edited by Orpheal.8263)
I just want:
- Greataxe
- Polearm
- Main hand Shield
Polearms could be used as scythes by necros (give them a similar effect to that of staves).
(edited by FenrirSlakt.3692)
1. Orbs
2. Whip (like one of the Mesmer Phatasms has)
3. Some kind of knuckle weapon
4. Lance
5. Polearm
I wanna see ALL gear to be cultural, which will make all the weapons cultural too. But it’s not going to happen.
But strictly on topic, Greataxe and Polearm, also usable shield skills:( I love the look of a massive shield on my back but it’s useless in this game.
I want to see spear and longbow for guard :P
I’d rather see a special weapon added for each class. Something they and only they can use, with special things to do in order to craft and/or upgrade it.
Mesmer: Crystal Ball
Necromancer: Scythe
Elementalist: Rune Blade
Ranger: Claw Blades (pair)
Engineer: 1 handed Hammer
Thief: Whip
Warrior: 2 handed Axe
Guardian: Flail
Ele get to have me?
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
1: Greataxe
2: Scythe
3: Lance
4: Nothing
5: Nothing

My Ingi missing only ONE weapon:
How do starting/leveling characters get access to these weapons? Why should it be more of a hassle for them to get these “special” ones? In order to justify this distinction, these profession-specific weapons would have to be clearly superior in some way — and making one weapon blatantly better than others is a terrible idea.
I’m glad you asked! And while they can be superior in some way, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’ll be unbalanced, it just means that they have to be inferior in some other way.
Let’s say that, at level 10, you can go to a trainer for your class and they’ll hand you a basic version of this weapon. They tell you to practice with it, and come see them later. This weapon isn’t going to be impressive, but then at level 10 none of the weapons have impressive stats to them.
Then, at level 20, they’ll give you an upgrade item. That, the weapon, and two other things in the mystic forge will give you a slightly improved version of the weapon. Where do you get the other two items? Well, that’s where the fun starts. One is made by crafting, using items you can get at level 20 and a recipe you can get cheaply (free?) from a vendor in the cities. That item is account bound, so any of your characters can make it, but if you don’t want to craft there’s a mystic forge recipe that will make it for twice the amount of components.
The second item is obtained out in the world. NOT BY RNG!!! Say, a special item sold by a specific heart vendor, again in an area suited to a level 20. You get all four things together, toss them in the forge, and get your improved weapon, ready for level 20 use.
Now, at level 30, you can go back again. THIS time, they give you a choice of upgrade items. Which one you pick decides what stats your weapon will be getting. Get the two other items, the upgrade item, and toss them with the level 20 weapon into the forge, and get the level 30 version. And so on…
Now, here’s where the interesting part starts… There’s no traits to improve this weapon for your character. Instead, as you get to higher leveled versions of it, you get the option to make one with a trait-like effect built in. Maybe you go for the version that recharges skills a bit faster, or maybe you go for the one that has better range. They’re superior because you get that without spending trait points for it, but inferior because you can’t easily change that like you can traits.
If you choose to keep upgrading your special weapon as you level, then when you reach level 80 you have a weapon that’s been with you almost the entire way, and has grown with you. It’s not something you grabbed off of the TP. It’s not something you crafted in 3 minutes of clicking. It’s the weapon that YOU have put work into. In short, it’s a bit more character advancement in the form of a weapon that grows with you, if you choose to spend the effort on it.

+1 even though it will probably never happen. I never even thought about claws on ranger, but you could do a rampage as one beast build by becoming “feral” and attacking with your claws like your pets do. Would be pretty neat. Also, I’ve been saying engies need mace for the whole “1 handed hammer” theme, they just need it.
1) Claw Weapons/Fists
2) Scythes
3) Whips/Chains/Flails (all same weapon type different looks)
4) Pole-arm on Land
5) Crossbow
1. bo staff – martial artist kind of weapon, perhaps for thieves? optionally, could be replaced with two handed spear for more class diversity, still could be used like bo staff by thieves
2. crossbow – both one and two-handed, I could see it on warriors, engineers, thieves and rangers
3. off-hand scepter
4. whip – both main hand and off-hand weapon, could provide high control like stuns, pulls, knockdowns, immobilizes (besides, dual wielding whips would look so kitten!)
5. spellbook – offhand weapon, obviously for caster classes
6. scythe – I’m not crazy about GW1 dervishes but necro could definitely use some cleave and aoe power weapon in general
7. two handed (or should I say – forced dualwielding) fist/claw weapons
8. and lastly, similar concept as above but for mages; some sort of aura/floating runes etc around hands – could be either exclusively for two hands, but I could also see this kind separated as main and off-hand weapons
Some of these weapons just aren’t very good.
Claws and fists are really only useful against unarmed opponents, anyone with a proper weapon has a huge reach advantage.
Sabres are useless against armor (they only became popular when firearms rendered armor worthless).
Spears and pole arms are great weapons, but are too slow for single combat. They are used best in formation. A scythe is a farming implement. You’d only every use it as a last resort.
Crossbows are very powerful, but very slow to reload. (Although, early firearms technically have the same issues).
Cannons, WTF?
No one who has ever used a chainsaw would seriously consider using it as a real weapon. Chainsaws are heavy. You can’t use a chainsaw long without resting. Chainsaws are subject to gyroscopic forces, which makes them dangerously unpredictable when moving. Swing a chainsaw around and you’re about as likely to cut your own head off as someone else’s. Lastly, they suffer from “kickback”. Cut something with the tip of a chainsaw blade, and it will kick upwards, which is a good way to lose a face.

hey i want you to grab a dictionary and look up fantasy.
entire arm fists/claws – Thiefs, mesmer, elementalist (ele fists)
entire legs – Thiefs, elementalist, mesmer
Great Axe – Warrior, guardian
Blade and Chain – Ranger
1. Fan
2. Crossbow
3. Offhand Blowgun
4. 2h Axe/Polearm/Spear/Scythe
5. 2h Energetic Sphere
i want a weapon swap button on my failementalist’s staff that turns it into a bo-staff
hopefully one that does a ton of damage, has an aoe interrupt, an evade, a distance closer, and a massive heal that initiates 6 seconds of retal
Attachments:
Scythes (for light class)
Whips (Also suits light class)
Crossbows (For rangers)
Hand cannons (for engi’s)
Nunchucks (for thieves)
That’s all I can think of that I’d like to see in the game. Definitely scythes and whips.
-whip for ranger, elementalist, mesmer, thief
-lance for heavies, ranger, mesmer, engie(maybe)
-2h axe for heavies, necromancer(maybe, depends if scythes are counted as 2h axes or other)
-UNARMED (fists and feet and maybe teeth) for everyone
-Chakrams for elementalist necromancer guardan mesmer and thief (maybe)
My mesmer wants a whip.
My necro wants a whip.
My thief wants a whip.
Hmmn…… conundrums…… what do I do if all my 16 characters want whips?
http://asuratime.tumblr.com/
- Flail
- Scythe
- Great Axe
- Halberd
- Crossbow
Mmm, I got 4 in mind:
Of the Mists weapon line:
Longbow
Shortbow
Warhorn
Staff
My five weapons would be
1: No-Dachi
2: Two-handed axe
3: Halberd
4: Flail
5: Naginata
Also, more weapon skills for the current weapons would be amazing as well. The current amount is just to small and can make combat boring.
