I may be jumping to conclusions but only to a similar degree to yourself. Perhaps you don’t recognize how your tone could be perceived? I find this a common problem these days although I’m not advocating some political-correctness agenda, but am often baffled when these people get surprised about the response such attitude elicits.
Perhaps you didn’t intend your opinion to be initially hypocritical but surely you could understand why someone would attribute that to your opinion? For the same reason you want specific content, others share the same reasons to include part of what you want (lore/story) yet deemed unimportant? Many people want Tengu not only for the looks but also the areas, new events, new stories, lore and depth (or did you not want those things?).
Perhaps your opinion simply was convenient and not hypocritical, although it also makes it ignorant as well since the reasons you feel oppose such a content update could be said about practically any additional content (Imagine how kittened off everyone would be if we get only 2 new dungeons and no new rewards…and yes I’m ignoring the fact the devs likely would never do that!).
So surely, you’re not being obtuse and ignoring facts while pressing your preferences and calling all of the Tengu fans children, are you?

Yeah previous comment was deleted by forum moderators but in fact expresses what I think this discussion has been led to. Just that I remember a korean game where all they added was a new class every year and everything else remained the same, hope this doesn’t happen here since there’s a lot more to do in an expansion. This week forums were filled with Tengu race threads don’t want the expansion to suck
On the other hand, I don’t think there’s a tone when you read (prehaps you were reading it in your own tone) and seriously the samurai idea doesn’t fit to Anet’s profession philosophy and is weird. Don’t think an opinion can be ignorant either, but I seriously think judging other’s opinions is (wich I didn’t do since all I said is "Am I the only one who is not excited with tengu).
I hope you can play with the bird (seriously, not being sarcastic) if that’s all you’re looking forward to. Grew tired of this gonna just play the game and wait for the weekend anouncement. Have fun lol.
Woops, my bad. I didn’t realize what thread I was posting in. All the Tengu threads must be blending together for me.
I’d agree that the samurai class is far fetched. I think giving them Japanese inspired cultural armor would be better and maybe a few themed animations for certain attacks. But just because I listen and talk about new races doesn’t mean I’m getting my hopes up. I still have a blast playing my characters (although it helps that I take frequent breaks) i just enjoy talking about new possibilities on forums. I mean, I certainly wouldn’t have fun complaining about problems with the game all the time.
But yeah, I don’t have hopes up. I’m just happy I’ll get to experience PAX in person so I’ll be up there getting the news 1st hand (will be the 1st thing like this I ever attended =P )
