Haven’t played in a very long time. Don’t like the direction the expansion took. But I still c are about ArenaNet… you made my favorite game, the original Guild Wars. I may not like your design choices but I have huge respect for the art in the GW franchise.

I was very disappointed when kekai kotaki(sp?) left ANet. The art of GW is truly one of a kind, and you can see people immitating it constantly these days. The original GW was the very definition of innovative, and very structured in a way no MMO had been before. The art was a huge part of that.

I still enjoy logging into GW to look at the murals of the gods.

I thank you for your service, sir Daniel. I have all the original art books and have a few posters of campaigns in my bedroom.

I even have one of the keychain talismans that were released limited edition as far as I know. I believe it is nightfall.

Did you guys know that ANet used to send out holiday wishes to dedicated players? I got a signed christmas card from them once. I think they grew too big too fast and lost their identity tbh.

/endrant

They still send out Christmas, or rather, Wintersday cards. =)

Thank you Daniel, and congratulations Horia

I don’t know that it’s to “dedicated” players per se, depending on definitions (I feel that if it were a simple metric, I’d likely qualify). Seems to go to random people, though they always seem very happy to get one. I keep hoping every year for the RNG gods to smile on me … and being very happy for those who do get the cards. Vicarious joy is still real.

Why are so many people that have been with Guild Wars since the beginning, leaving lately? Is there something Anet isn’t telling us? Are they not making enough money to develop it further? Do they not see a future for GW2? Something is up.

The fact Colin Johanson is no longer with GW as well, was one of the first clues. I mean, who wouldn’t want to work for Guild Wars? Unless perhaps it was going under and you knew the boat was about to sink and we all know it is better to jump early than to face the inevitable (just sayin’).

It’s a really sad day for GW. Good luck in whatever you do next, Daniel. You’ll be missed!

Forever a supporter of more male skimpy armor

‘Multumim’! Thanks Daniel for all the excellent work you have done for this franchise! As an arts enthusiast, I can say that your style has always been inspiring and I would love to see what Horia has in store for us in his new role as director! Best of luck to both of you and thanks again for sharing your wonderful talent!

If it was sinking, why would Horia stay and Daniel leave? Why are all the others that have been at ArenaNet since Guild Wars still be there? Why would ArenaNet be hiring, just as always?

Things often aren’t as gloom-and-doom as some prophesy.
