Thank you!
Thank you so much for making this game!!
Thanks arenanet!! I’ve played mmorpgs for more than a decade and its very clear when playing the game how much effort was made in all aspects of it. I hit lvl 80 last week and I know that I will be playing this game for a very very long time.
Thank youuuuuuu!!!!
What people don’t realise is that most forms of entertainment stem from the telling of stories. It is no easy task to tell a story; much-less come up with one. Every element is there for a reason. Every small detail. With that in mind imagine just how hard it is to tell a story using a game as your medium? Think of all the of things that go into making a game. I for one applaud anyone that can entertain me with a story . . . Yet ArenaNet did more than that. They moved me. I lived the story of Guild Wars 2 through my own character and I loved it, start to finish. But it wasn’t just a story ArenaNet made; not even an MMO. . .
They made a living, breathing world.
One which I wish I’d help develop. One which inspires me to try and make my own. But for now I want to thank them for letting me be a part of this world, to see its wonders and to hear its music. I implore other developers to look to ArenaNet and learn because they made this world for themselves and chose to share it; unlike so many other developers who only see the money involved.
Thank you, Arena net.

With all these negative posts going around i just wanted to say thank you arena net for an awesome game! I believe GW2 is the best mmo to date so keep up the good work and just know that some fans are thankful for all the hard work and effort youve put into this project.
Amen!

You haven’t seen negative yet. I bought both SWtOR and Diablo III during their launch and whitnessed first hand what negativity really is. These forums haven’t even started to get warm.

This man speaks the truth.
Newly released games are always going to be full of people whining and crying because of something that’s not been added yet, they don’t know how to give it time.
Like me, I got 80, realized >80 is horrid, so I left, but will be back in a few months, ready to play properly and enjoy the game, hopefully, as much as I did whilst leveling.

Hahahahahaha. no doubt. The game is good. Not great. Great games have end game content. You know, content after 80 that is not pvp related. Or a seriously boring dungeon with no reward worth banging your head for. God loot is terrible in this game. Maybe it is diablo 3 with the crappy loot and swtor with the crappy ( or lack of) end game.
As I explore the forums and reddit, I’m noticing a very sad trend of people complaining over everything. I felt it important to come and say “Thank you” and tell you the reasons I love this game so much!
I purchased 3 copies of GW2 for myself, my brother and a friend. Personally, I’ve logged in over 200 hours and my brother is nearing 300+ hours. Mind you, this isn’t counting the 50+ hours that I put in during the BWEs! The craziest part is I haven’t even made it to Orr or even lvl 80 yet; just last night I made it to the area south of Malchor’s Leap. This comes to just 30 cents on the hour for what I have paid for for just my account. I have NEVER put this many hours into a single game, even though I’ve played WoW, Warhammer, Age of Conan, Star Trek, Champions, DDO and a multitude of free MMOs.
I have followed the development of GW2 for many years now. ArenaNet, you deserve some great praise for the trends you are setting in the MMO and gaming industry. Iterative processes, “When it’s ready” policies, and an openness with your community has allowed you to create a great game that I know many people are loving.
Let me speak for everyone who can’t post because they’re spending all their free time in Tyria: THANK YOU!!!!
I don’t know if there is already topic for expressing gratitude for this magnificent piece of art, I looked for it , couldn’t find.
I am amazed by this game, it is unbelievable. From start, till I hit level 80 I was amazed by quests, story, UI, whole world, art style… It completely took me in, like no game before.
Now dungeons, sPvP and WvWvW are giving me so much fun. Small details like playing underwater instrument, or some stories you can hear when you’re in the inn, pictures on the walls, jumping puzzles… Every time I log in, I discover something new. I totally enjoy it with my friends. All those little problems (i.e. bugs with this or that) are just disappearing when you take a look at the world around you.
Thank You for this game, thank You for being inspired for making this jewel – without a doubt it is the BEST MMO in the industry, without any real competition. Even with my job and everything real life have for me in the future – this is the game I will enjoy in many more years to come!
Thanks!!
I do agree, it’s been a very long time since i was this in on a video game, which to me is amazing. Last time i think it was… Mass Effect 1.
And i play this like 6-8 hours each day, it’s not healthy at all. But you know what.. i don’t even care, i love this game!
Greetings community!
I seriously thought this day would never come * holds back tear*
Ever since I heard about GW2 I knew I WANTED TO PLAY SOOO BAD ! however I was disappointed when the launch didn’t included a mac client….
Low and behold I wake up this morning and the best announcement ever happened
I just want to personally thank everyone at the company for not forgetting the minority of computer users in the country ( an estimate 66 million mac users and growing btw !) and allowing us to partake in this great game of yours !
I look forward to playing
Cheers!
I just want to take the time out to thank ArenaNet for their autherisation policy.
I recieved an e-mail telling me that someone tried to log onto my account from China (I’m in England), and immediately changed my password.
I really appreciate that they’ve implemented this feature, as much as I’d love to see an Authenticator come into play at some point – this is the next best thing and I’m happy that it’s prevented my account from getting hacked.
Well done
You might get disappointed again after hit 80.

Maybe not if he doesn’t rush anything
Agreed it has been happening rather constantly of late from many people I know of. Those IP address blocks out of the Chinese gold reseller sweat shops need to be blocked from access to the game at all.

I was not as lucky as you. They login into my account management and change the email(username) without confirmation from my email.
Its very funny how you need email confirmation to login into the game but you don’t to steal the entire account.

They need authorization to access management, so I am thinking your e-mail was not confirmed.
Just wanted to say THANKS to everyone who worked so hard and made such an excellent game. I have been having a blast this past week since I bought it and look forward to playing a lot more!
I have played many MMORPG’s – starting with the original EQ, but never managed to stick with any of them for more than a couple of months. A lot of what eventually turned me off of them I have already seen addressed in GW2, to name a few:
• No subscription: This is obviously nice – but also removes (for me) the pressure of trying to get my “money’s worth” out of the game… I can play it nice and slow, enjoying the content a little at a time without feeling like I missed something. I hope this model works well enough to support future content and encourage other companies to switch to it as well.
• Automatic group-benefits: Just run up an help! Everyone shares the XP, the loot, etc. – you actually get rewarded for helping complete strangers fight the mobs. This is nothing short of a revelation. An end to the awkward “should I help or not?” problem.
• Multiple ways to complete quests / automatic area quests: No more chatting with the NPC’s unless you want to (and I usually do) – just run in and do helpful things when you get in the right area… and less emphasis on inventory juggling aspects. All very polished, evolutionary ideas.
• Collectables straight to the bank: Genius.
• Little trail of white dots on the map show where I’ve been: I never knew I wanted this, now I can’t live without it…
• A limit to ten “keys I have to worry about”: I liked this concept from the first GW (although I didn’t play that one too long for other reasons) – I loathe levelling up characters in other games (I’m looking at you WoW & LotRO) because past a certain point I need to juggle dozens of active skills (and skill chains), monitor just as many passive ones and also try to figure out the best way to use consumables… no thanks. I use a Nostromo pad and it works just perfectly for GW2. The strategy comes from switching out skills before you go into a fight… that’s how it should be!
• Down-leveling allows for content exploration: No more big empty areas full of “grey” mobs to irritate me (anyone remember “roller-rats” from AO?) – I can go anywhere my level or lower and still be entertained – while still carefully exploring the edges of higher level areas. Now the whole map is opened up for those like me who like to wander (and yet are not lost).
• Underwater: automatically supplied with a rebreather & special underwater weapon? A whole new Z axis to explore? You win again, GW2.
There are many other things I’m sure I’m forgetting, but those are the big points that leap to mind. I know my experience is still fresh and I’m sure I’ll find things that get on my nerves eventually – but for what it’s worth those items I listed above are solutions to problems I’ve always had with other MMORPG’s in the past. To have them instantly solved the second I start playing is just way beyond awesome.
Keep up the great work, ArenaNet! You are truly master game designers!
I thank you Arena Net for developing a successful MMO with balanced gameplay, good graphics & an awesome player base. It might be a bit pricey to purchase but from what you are offered in the game it was totally worth it, your fresh & creative idea will live on forever. I am excited for further in-game achievements & can’t wait to see more!
Yours Sincerely-
Shadow

I really like their downleveling system, it makes exploring low level zones fun. They would be so diminished if we ran through them at max level.
You should take a look at the massive problems Blizzard has in Warcraft trying to implement Cross Realm Zones, in an attempt to make dead zones feel more populated.
They have ridiculous unintended consequences over there affecting questing, pvp, raiding, etc.
Surprised no gaming magazines are covering their chaos.
Also the language filter that changes bad words with “kitten” is pure genius.
I’m extremely impressed by this game and would like everyone at ArenaNet to know how much fun I’m having… “I feel six feet tall!”
“endgame” equals WoW conditioning…rats in a hazy maze…I am so glad I broke free of the repetitiveness that is wow (10 months sober) Thank you for your wonderful game. The use of the word “fanboys” or similar immediately leads me to dismiss the comments made by those who use them as it offers no constructive thought to do so and is used as a veiled (sometimes poorly) insult to those who enjoy a particular game, akin to playground taunts like "puts thumbs in ears and wriggles fingers " nicky nicky noo noo". Keep up the good work devs and again thank you for giving us a game with depth of GAMEPLAY and story and lore which is interesting and entertaining.
Excellent features? Yes. Excellent gameplay? Yes. Excellent dungeon balance, bug control, bot control, lack of grinding? … I’ll give them some time.
Indeed , Thanks to the devs for an excellent game.
The world you created is amazing , landspaces , cities , sky , undewater , gameplay philosophy , you deserv the best.
best regards.

That sums it up for me pretty well.
This game just came out, so I’m willing to cut them some slack and give them time to fix things. I’ll have fun along the way.
As a comparison of MMO launches, the launch of Warcraft was embarassingly bad.
Someone even cancelled the “Game of the Year” title they had given them, and their president released a message apologizing for the problems:
http://www.gamespot.com/news/world-of-warcraft-wracked-by-problems-6116566
http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/world-of-warcraft/582134p1.html
I remember server queues, being several hundred positions in line waiting to get in.
Guild Wars 2 overflow servers are a nice touch in comparison.
Don’t mean to pick on Warcraft, I like their game actually. They are just one of the biggest MMO’s out there, and make for good comparison.
In spite of their problems, Warcraft ended up surviving just fine.
Guild Wars 2 can too.
I’d like to congratulate ANet for making a polished and enjoyable MMO, that goes in its own direction and has many great features and ideas.
Is it perfect? Of course not. It has its own strengths and weaknesses like any other game, and some are inherent in the design and will never be “fixed”. It’s all about personal preference, what kinds of features you love, what kinds of problems you don’t mind, etc. (eg. Dark Souls is just as good a game. But it’s certainly not for everyone, and its far from perfect, etc.)
Unlike Dark Souls, since GW2 is an MMO, there is hope for future improvement as well. I hope moving forward, ANet remains true to the vision & values they have for the game, and make further improvements on that spirit, rather than trying to appease those who don’t agree and merely want some clone of EQ/WOW/etc.
Hands down the best mmo over the last few years! Be careful though the forums are usually reserved for paid rants by pr.
This is a brand new MMORPG and it is exactly what i want. Yeah it still has flaws, but they do not break the game for me. I love the depth of the world and the attention to detail most of all.
Just remember, the people ranting and whining about every little thing is that it is brand new, barely 4 weeks old at this point they’re trying their best to iron out problems I’m sure.
Ironangel, I gladly present you with the “reaction befitting a child”-award.
Yes, thanks to anet from me, too. Not perfect, but a darn good game.
Agreed OP
I am really enjoying this game though all the blizzard trolls and paid pr trolls will swarm your thread no doubt
Agreed OP- very nice post
Playing this game has been an eye opener for me and I feel quite liberated.
Thank you for making a game that does things differently and actually tries to improve the genre
Like you OP ive played a LOT of mmo’s (since UO) and agree, this game is a breath of fresh air after WoW and the multiple clones it spawned.
(Actually i don’t mind WoW really, more so the type of players it bred which now descend on any new game like a swarm of locusts, race to ‘max level’ and pick the bones clean all the time crying that there isn’t enough meat before moving on to thier next ill fated meal.)
Good post OP
Seriously. You guys who have complaints, go to another thread where it’s actually relevant. Some dungeon difficulties and normal problems for all MMOs don’t do anything to change the fact the game is fantastic. It looks fantastic, plays fantastic, and most of it’s system are fantastic. It does more for gamers than any MMO out there, and makes our life easier in almost every traditional way. It has negatives, but sorry the positives smash them to pieces if we’re comparing here.
I’m also grateful to Anet for what they’ve done.
So happy to see a positive post! I have not made it to level 80 although leveling is quite fast it seems but I am in no hurry. I have enjoyed tons of quests, exploring, listening to random chats from NPCs nearby, just the overall game. I recently asked a guild mate why does he think there were so many hate posts. He replied with the ones who love it are too busy playing and enjoying the game to post. So perhaps he was right and I am glad you took the time to post a positive side. I agree with your likes in this game especially the collectibles going straight to the bank. Fantastic!
Thanks Devs!
Not So Epic [HAL]
In spite of the few flaws, you cannot deny the amount of polish on this game. As an MMO veteran myself (SWG, CoX, WAR, CO, SWTOR), I can say beyond a doubt that this is the best launch i’ve personally experienced and without a doubt the most fun i’ve had in an MMO. I really started researching the game about nine months ago, and it is exactly as it was advertised (according to my expectations). The graphics are amazing (i’m privileged enough to experience everything on the highest settings), the gameplay is spot-on, and the world itself is immense and immersive. Can you imagine how amazing this will be with a couple years under its belt and even more content and polish?

Thank you aswell for your work in dungeons. I know it can be hard but don’t give up! WE’ll get there soon!
Amen, thank you. Agree this is the mmo I’ve been looking for since I burnt out on the old formula, keep up the good work and don’t change for the whinners, carry on giving the majority the game we expected and wanted.
I played all three Beta Weekends and have been playing regularly since launch. I want to say thank you not only for a great game, but for listening to your customers! Just adding the little feature that shows if a group member has finished a heart or not has tripled my enjoyment of the game. I don’t know how many other folks asked for it but it was feedback I gave in Beta, and it was a small thing that made a big difference!
You have a beautiful game that’s fun to play and full of promise. Thanks for what you’ve done so far, and what’s to come.
I do have to say that the game is terrific. I’ve really not had this much fun in an mmo since the original EQ back in ’99 when the world was new and exploration was the name of the game. You guys nailed it on the head.
It’s a good game. Make it GREAT.
Adding to this thread because hey, maybe the number of posts here makes a dev smile every now and then!
I love the ideas and the ideals behind GW2, and I think ArenaNet is doing a fantastic job – the game’s not perfect but that’s ok, MMOs are always works in progress. Some people are fed up, but that’s ok! Not everyone wants the same things out of an MMO. Meanwhile, GW2 is filling a niche that many of us dearly love to see filled… and maybe in time more people will realise there’s more than one way to play a game.
I have put more hours into this game in the first month than any other game I’ve played. This is hands down the best RPG ever made and I hope everything continues that way into the future. Well done and Thank you very much.
Thanks Anet. First MMO that has kept me playing. Usually after a few days I get bored and move on but the game play and story line keep me coming back. Awesome job you guys. So awesome!
This game kept me relaxed and having fun during my post-surgery recovery. That was a month ago. Now I have a bad cold and it’s keeping me relaxed and having fun while I recover.
=) Thanks ANet.
Thanks ANet! I’ve been having a great time.
I haven’t felt this immersed in an MMO since Star Wars Galaxies and maybe even moreso with GW2! That’s a huge compliment and undertaking in my book. The team at Anet really put their heart and soul into this game and you are reminded of that constantly by all of the diverse landscapes, scenery and lore.
My hats off to the devs and designers and appreciate their continued hard work invested in providing us players with a vast world we login to each day and escape from reality for a bit.
