People are arguing about the lack of diversity but neglecting the fact that it’s no longer necessary to do as the main reason to do dailies was to get the shiny.

Why do you people keep forgetting about 5-6-8 AP (and experience) we got naturally playing the game, which is now nerfed because we have to do specific stuff to get any AP? Because it is a valid and important, thus inconvenient, argument, is that why?

We’ve had specific dailies before, it’s not like this is new.

As for the AP, I don’t really care. I don’t actively hunt AP. Oh sure, when I notice that I’m 50 to 100 points away from my next chest, I’ll go looking for AP, but that’s the only time I actively AP hunt.

Regarding experience even if you absolutely ignore the dailies, the daily log in reward for the “6th day” of each “week” is a ‘Bag of Experience’ so that hasn’t disappeared either.

Thank you for reminding me! By the end of the 28 day login you will either have 10 or 16 tomes of knowledge depending on which end chest you choose. So there’s you’re experience.

Actually I’m just grumpy. Also it’s not my problem. It’s his. He’s the one that dislikes the changes. As I said before I’m withholding proper judgement until I’ve had a chance to go through around a month or so of them and see how much they impact me. For me they could be a massive inconvenience at which point I will consider taking my own advice and leaving the game.

They could not impact me very much at all at which point I’ll most likely stay. I’ll let ya know in a month.

Pretty cool on the tomes of knowledge. the XP consumables are nice too. I may just bank them up and if I ever want to delete re-roll a toon usee them up for an instant 80.

I really dislike the login rewards. I mean, talk about being spoonfed!

It just makes me feel complicit in something I would otherwise be uncomfortable with. It’s like ANet is bribing me to login with loot rather than me wanting to login to play. I don’t like that angle they’re taking.

I also have limited play time, and do not enjoy PvP (I get too angry in any competitive game) or much WvW (limited play time does not mesh well with waiting and scouting etc). My play time did not intersect with the Shaman popping. A generic “take down a world boss” would be much improved.

My play time is precious. I always go into it with an idea of what I want to do. Last night I decided to try out the new system and get my PvE dailies. I spent half an hour competing with a zerg for credit in events (thank god for those Mordrem events), mining ore I didn’t want or need and viewing a vista I’d already seen multiple times across multiple characters. I had to dedicate half my play time to the daily instead of getting them as I farm for geodes or play in the silverwastes – the content I actually wanted to play. The other half hour of play time I spent on wintersday events, which I prioritized despite wanting to play in Dry Top more. Thank you for the Wintesday dailies.

I do like the AP being a bundle for completing the overall daily instead of being doled out by individual task. I’m just disappointed that I have less freedom than before.

I have played it in the past, and I don‘t see why. WvW dailies are more or less automatically completed by just having a bit of a go at the game mode. This used to be true for PvE, but isn‘t anymore. It‘s a baffling discrepancy. And then there’s the profession-specific ones in PvP that also restrict easy completion a lot.

It seems to me like a stealthy attempt to promote WvW.

I have much more to complain about the Wintersday daillies. You have to do 5 of them before you get anything besides 1 AP each and you had only 6 choices including either the bell choir or jumping puzzle which neither I care for, a lot of them were pretty time consuming! I didn’t bother with any of them the day before because I had little time left, because I may have been able to do 2-3 and I proceeded to … live with it.

That’s why awarding a chest per achievement is so much better.

Look at the size of WvW compared to PvE. There’s really not much variation in avhievements that you can do. Look at PvP and how little variation they can have with the daily achievements.

Let’s make this simple people, doing Dailies is so you can get Achievement points, running around doing what you want is not achieving anything. Being sent to do specific tasks and completing them is Achieving, hence the new system. Earn your Daily reward through Achievement.

This. They made it so generic before because of the Laurels attached to it most likely. They didn’t want to slow down the progress toward Ascended gear too much if a bad set of Dailies popped up for a group of players.

Now that Laurels are tied to simply logging in, the Daily Tasks can go back to the purpose ANet would prefer of them: getting players to explore the world, play new aspects of the game, etc, etc.

All you get for doing all 3 is Achievement Points. And well, you should have to Achieve something to get Achievement Points. Doing the Daily without any EXTRA effort is not Achieving something.

But no, you’d rather spend that precious time of yours complaining about it here.

This is just a WAG but after 15 pages and no response from Anet I’d guess this horse is dead, canned and labeled.

Y’all feel free to continue to argue over how many angels can dance on the head of a pin but this is settled. Like it or Lump it. It’s not going to change for the better despite valid points being raised.

Moreover, given the many mis-steps in the last 6mos or so, NPE, Traits, Gem Exchange, No Expansions, TP UI, etc you better learn to like the new Anet if you want to keep on playing.

I’d still like to know what drives these changes? They sure don’t feel like anything designed for the NA/EU crowd. Nor do they feel like anything from Anet in the past. Still, smile and be as happy as you can.

So this is a great example of when naming things one way is very confusing to ppl. The old dailies now are just log into the game and you get your reward the new dailies system is more about enhancing in game rewards. Its a shame that ppl cant see this and harp on name base alone and not what is realty going on. But i guess that how acts get past that do the opposite of what there name says (USA laws.)

Doomed to fail. People will soon find the fastest, most convenient way to take down their 3 and just return to their prefered way of playing 5 minutes later. Not even that long if they have fast rigs. It won’t be long until these ‘achievements’ are inconveniences one suffers through for some AP. They already were that from the get-go for a great many players. What then? Another revamp?

I don’t consider the vast majority of the new ‘achievements’ something worthy of the english language meaning of that word. Or are we talking ironically?

Why should Anet pay any attention to this whinefest? I have been through the entire thread, and have seen maybe a couple of valid comments that have been constructively pointed out.

The rest of this thread has been whining for whine’s sake. “OMG, I hate change, Anet!!!! I can’t deal with any of this because it entirely screws up my life!!!! WAAAAHHHHH!!!!”

Seriously, I can’t see any reason at all why Anet should spend more than 5 minutes looking at this thread. Unless it is a slow day and they need a few laughs with their coffee and donuts.

I don’t have a problem with the new system as far as how it works. The thing that disappoints me is that they could have left the prior thing alone and used the development efforts to offer something new instead of making an unneeded change.

The NPE change, this one and a few others looks to be little more than a developers pet project instead of something that players were looking to get.

Never said that they were likely to succeed in their desire to get people to spread out. It does at least get them to spread out for a few minutes.

Most of the Achievements in this game aren’t hard. Even the ones available from launch. These new Dailies fit right into the whole not hard range. The old Dailies were the easiest and I don’t blame them for making them a “little harder”. And by little I mean a little nudge on the scale of easy to hard.

You get them for logging in.

If you choose the Laurels option in Chest of Loyalty on Day 28, then you get more laurels in one month than you ever could on the old system.

If you choose the Laureals option you get 55 laurels.

Before in a one month time you would get 28-31 laurels for the daily and 10 laurels for the monthly. That’s 38 to 41 laurels.

So with the new system, if you choose the Laurels option you get 24-27 more laurels each month.

a·chieve·ment
noun: achievement; plural noun: achievements

1. a thing done successfully, typically by effort, courage, or skill.
“to reach this stage is a great achievement”

2. the process or fact of achieving something.
“the achievement of professional recognition”

“a thing done successfully, typically by effort”…….just about anything done in a game could be technically called an achievement. Heck, just logging into a game is an “achievement” for some.

Now if you add in the “courage” part, that pretty much tosses all video games out the window.

I really like the new daily system, hope they keep it like this. Remember if they add more pve dailies then they’ll have to add more wvw/pvp ones too (previous system was unfair to wvw/pvp players). If they did that it would become too clogged and less likely that people will try other game modes, The current system and amount of dailies is fine imo. If they do cave in to the complainers and decide to add more then I think it should be another 1 for each mode maximum.

You’re probably correct on that. Add one, tops, to each category.

Oh, it’s not much harder. If you weren’t looking carefully you wouldn’t likely notice anything different.

It does require more effort to do the Daily now. And harder things require more effort. It’s just a hardly noticeable amount of more effort in the actual scheme of things.

It is actually even more complex. We have daily login system, we have moving ap’s to daily completionist, we have daily achievement rewards (tied to the previous point), and we have the new daily achievements.
In my case, the problem lies only in that last part (daily achievements being way more specific than before), and from what i see, most complains of other people also address specifically this part of the new system.

I have a minor nitpick with the fact that the wintersday dailies were obviously meant to interface with the old system, but that is a separate case (and, as i mentioned already, a minor one).

The login rewards are what actually replaced the old dailies. The new daily system is a new feature designed to reward people for getting out and trying new/different things in the game.

Here a good way to look at it what are you talking about when your saying dailies? We have 2 dailies now the just log in that holds most of what the old dailies system had or the other system that you need to do to get the old ap but you also get more rewards as in chest.

What dailies do ppl hate?

It is actually even more complex. We have daily login system, we have moving ap’s to daily completionist, we have daily achievement rewards (tied to the previous point), and we have the new daily achievements.
In my case, the problem lies only in that last part (daily achievements being way more specific than before), and from what i see, most complains of other people also address specifically this part of the new system.

I have a minor nitpick with the fact that the wintersday dailies were obviously meant to interface with the old system, but that is a separate case (and, as i mentioned already, a minor one).

I get what your saying about AP but even dailies AP cap out at a point to where you cant get higher total AP from dailies alone. Its like 50% of your total i think i am not sure.

That may end up being a 3ed dailies system base off of the current LS / event of the month. We just need to see what happens after winters day.

Main : Jski Imaginary ELE (Necromancer)
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)

My two cents:

For PVE, I have some concerns over the overtly specific tasks such as kill X world boss, because X boss only spawns at a certain time. I would prefer this to be something like kill ANY world boss or kill X or Y or Z world boss.

For PvP, win a match with X profession is not a good idea. Your match is going to overloaded with X profession. 5 vs 5 decap engineers! Allow some leeway like win with 4 random professions instead.

For WvW, do we really need the extra badges of honors? Can we get something else? like traps, blueprints, wvw food, ascended mats, bag of loot maybe?

I dislike them ONLY because there is no longer a laurel reward!

You literally get your laurels now “just for showing up” …

Do you people even look into the details of updates before you start complain about them?

…I really don’t understand.

And then he created another thread about it and ignored all the links that people offered up to explain. /smh

HAHAHA!

Look at it this way.

The only real reward from the new daily system is AP…. and even that is almost meaningless.

Say one day you decide, “Man… I don’t like these daily categories… I’m not going to do my daily today.”

Daily AP rewards have a cap.

Once you reach that cap, there is literally no point in doing your daily any more.
(unless you do it for the reward chests….. which in my honest opinion is an amazing addition… and is reason enough for me to strive to do all the categories regardless of having already earned my AP)

You reach this cap sooner or later….. and there is no avoiding it if you continue doing your daily.

There is no difference whether or not you rush the cap or take your time.

Also…. if you really cared about your AP that much….. you would have been one of the people who did every single AP category to earn the most AP….. in which case this should be a welcome change since you get max AP for only doing 3 categories….

What is the issue here?
