Despite my efforts to convince people to realize how fun WvW is, I feel as if my claim was ignored by users claiming that the only thing we do in WvW is zerg. When you join a WvW guild, theres more tactics than zerging, more positioning, more ways to die in a blob than 1 spam like you can in PvE.

Of course you zerg, that’s a given and that zerg is who you will depend on for survival, however, IN A WvW GUILD THAT ACTUALLY USES TACTICS, YOU AS A PLAYER DO MATTER, AND EVERYONE COMBINED MAKES A DIFFERENCE. YOUR GUILD ADDS RECOGNITION TO WHAT YOUR SERVER IS LIKE! *ALL OF THIS IS SAID WITH THE EXCLUSION OF EOTM!

THE GAME IS STILL FUN AND I CAN PROVE IT USING THESE VIDEO LINKS, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LOOK!

Red Guard from Blackgate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaRGUCXfqfQ

Os Guild from Northern Shiverpeaks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3_bq4veE8Q

Roll Initiative (community gaming guild) from Northern Shiverpeaks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ozp93ofriA

Black Citadels I dont know what Server:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48TNqT81sVA

All of these guilds have faced blobs where the numbers are like 30v 50 and still manage to win, also there is a reason you have infusion slots on ascended armor and it’s not just for agony resistance infusions! Now go and find a WvW guild that uses actual combat tactics, chances are if you’re better suited for meele combat you will be frontline, if you’re ranged you’re backline, your commander will call on something he wants you to do, and depending on how you do, you will win or you will lose the battle, though whether you win the war before your WvW queues reset, will depend on how you work together as team to defeat the enemy!

So with my last attempt at doing this, I hope I get my point across, I don’t want to see people who only PvE and read this say that it’s just zerging when the reality is deeper than that and much more calculated than a PvE zerg. It really isn’t just 1 spamming, its about coordination and how good your commander can lead you through battle! I’ve literally had commanders in both, my guild and other guilds, point me out and give me constructive criticism on my survivability because I got caught in a blob and died while everyone else lived and so on, the teamwork is actually real in WvW! SO STOP SAYING THE GAME IS BORING, YOU JUST NEED TO OPEN YOUR EYES AND FIGHT THE REAL ENEMY!

Yeah, no. I’m not putting 100+g into an infusion slot for +5 power or +4 condi damage.

I tried WvW and it’s bugged. Every time I go over there people on other servers are red to me and they kill me.

Plus, they need to add some hearts. I don’t see any over there.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Fun, but unrewarding.

My main focus in this game is skins, which requires a lot of gold, a lot of map-specific currency, a lot of time wasted in praying to RNGesus (or no time at all if you’re one of those with good luck), or a lot of time grinding something that isn’t RNGated but has painfully high requirements – none of which WvW offers. I might poke my head in it once more if WvW tournament ever graces us again, but if I’m going to do something that doesn’t get me closer to adding something else to my wardrobe, I’ll play another game instead.

Of course I can’t speak for everyone, but I imagine a few wardrobe hunters share this sentiment.

Just wondering why you didn’t respond in your previous thread on the same topic. It’s only a day or two old, no?

I used to play WvW, but I’ve not had the time to learn the new maps, what with the HoT release and Wintersday, and all.

Thing is, WvW used to be fun for everyone.
Big guilds, small guilds, hardcore guilds, casual pug zergs, roamers, scouts, …
They all had a place and function and people played that way cause it’s the way they wanted to play.

Now you have to join a big guild, buy HoT and beef up on ascended gear, and maybe you’ll get some action occasionally if you’re lucky to run into an enemy group.

WvW was dead three + years ago when first introduced.
Its not going to be resuscitated now.

In my WvW raids group, I’m actually an healer as a druid, I just buff/heal and auto rez my party when they do damage. I’m something really annoying when I’m with my party but totally useless when I’m alone (still arguable).
My other job when I’m mesmer, is just to be annoying and play with enemy, portals, escape, stealth, etc. I don’t zerg at all I’m just, again, really annoying and help my party to do some strategy while I just distract the enemy.

So yes, I don’t zerk, I just support my team and bother the enemy.

Bullkitten hyperbole. WvW was a blast in 2012 and 2013.

I’ve been thinking about trying to get into WvW for real, instead of my usual “pop in and run around like a spastic woodchuck for an hour” every few months. Thanks for posting this, I might just go find a real guild and give it a go.

WvW is now just another place to get dailies unless you are in the mood for zerging on EB. Until they make the upgrades manual again there is absolutely no reason to do anything else.

To each their own; wrong forum btw.

I personally lost interest in stages, with the new vertical maps with more cheesy PvE being yet another bad choice. I am currently playing other games because the endgame here, for me, is broken.

And all my hours of hard work getting my ranks up was wasted unless you count the 2 greens you get 90% of the time in the chest. Final nail was when the esports crowd got recognition before I do even in my own game mode, so I quit!

I just want to get to lvl 15 in WvW so I never have to set foot in that kitten show again. It’s no fun being part of a rolling ball of people and it’s even less fun being rolled over by another server’s ball of people.

For me wvw is just boring zerg vs zerg confusion most of the time i have no idea what to do and my computer cant handle all the people on screen its just no fun at all when my fps goes to 5-10 in big fights and i cant find any other enjoyment from wvw as there is no resource gathering to help making bases stronger and i am just too bad at fighting other people.

This.
WvW has been slowly dying. Ever since HoT was announced there’s been less and less fun in WvW. Guilds and commanders quit a lot (at least on my server), the new maps plus the guild system only made it worse, gating WvW behind unreasonable requirements for guilds, and so you have the current state.

You can cry out all you want but WvW isn’t the solution. The fact that you’re having to resort to this kind of agressive campaigning is just evidence to that.

Arena Net effectively killed WvW when they simply allowed it to be without change or improvement, thinking a new map and guild resource sinks would make it better, while they devoted all their resources for Player vs player on the Spvp end, which also failed.

No it’s not dead here in Blackgate, I just saw a spree of forum posts claiming that the game is boring so I wanted to respond to the quota.

Red guard videos… I haven’t seen one of those for quite some time now. Good old times, even though you’d usually end up with the bad end of the stick if you had to fight them. I remember fighting one of their follow-on guilds and another hardcore guild in a matchup against Piken Square while running with a public blob with mostly veteran players, it was one of the best WvW reset fights I’ve ever had.

Well… it’s a blast from the past. Let’s hope that ArenaNet doesn’t bury WvW once and for all with their big overhaul, if it returns to at least some of its former glory, I’ll support you if you try to rally players for this game mode.

Fun, but unrewarding.

It is unrewarding.

I don’t understand why they try to dissuade people from doing WvW, by making things like Fractals far more rewarding?

WvW maps are almost empty.

That is partly due to the new maps, but it is also due to an ongoing problem with lack of adequate rewards.

Why not make WvW and Fractals equally rewarding?

They are, at least, equally challenging.

Not that I think they should nerf Fractal rewards, as well, or anything…

Shouldn’t this in on the WvW forum? The only time worth playing WvW is when there is a tournament, WvW is really unrewarding. Also the new borderlands are horrible and empty, when people where saying they where I though they where kidding, but I spent a good 40 mins running around and didn’t see another player, including enemy’s.
