So today I logged into Lake Doric map and saw a commander, so I thought, “hey I need some leather so ill join the farm”…. I was not impressed to say the least. There were at least 40 Engineers there with hundreds of turrets just sitting. This has got to end. By making a class mechanic usable, its gets abused. So after much thought, I’ve come up with the simplest way to end all afk farming; REMOVE THE AUTO CAST FEATURE. It doesn’t get used but for people to abuse the system. This one simple thing that no one uses can easily be turned off and no one but the AFK farmers will be affected. No one says “oh let me stand here and hit 1 and walk away from the boss.” It doesn’t always stay on even when used. Also, no one uses auto cast to set off their other skills either.
Let’s get Anet to make Tyria Great Again!
edited: auto cast, not auto attack

I have stated before that IMO since not every character has the ability, no character should have the ability to automatically respond if attacked.

However, I don’t think this would solve the Engi farm since afaik they have to purposefully cast and recast the turrets.

I havent participated in this, but I don’t see a problem with this. If they want to turrent farm in Lake Doric on one monitor and netflix and chill on the other, seems okay with me…

Honestly I wonder why the game has better rewards for failing certain events in a form of a champ battle.

This isn’t even in Cursed Shore. Go look at Frostgorge Sound. You can save a quaggan or have it turn into a Champ Icebrood.

Flat nerfing the rewards isn’t the answer, although a cap on what you can acquire before the event completes wouldn’t be bad. (honestly you should get less reward for a failed event)

I suggest:
1. Make completion more rewarding than fail farming.

2. Make event more frequent, because clearly people want to farm.

3. Reduce Scaling range. OR 4. add an enrage timer that will actually wipe players if the boss isn’t defeated.

5. Make it if event fails nothing will spawn for a long period of time.

Agreed, especially with 1 and 5.

While I’m here in a CS thread, I’m just gonna bring this up… I love Arah defense, and no I will not let it fail if I am in the map. If anyone doesn’t like it, oh well!

It’s just words on a screen from someone you’ll never meet. If it affects you that much and the intent is serious—not just half joking—then report them. You can also block them, or switch to another tab.

To be honest I very rarely encounter anything that bad in chat, it’s definitely not a common thing. Maybe once in a blue moon if like an AB meta fails, someone might swear, but that’s it. No big deal, laugh it off and move on.

Interesting. I would not have expected that. I’ve always thought the game could be played by the people playing the game. It’s good that some people were okay with it, though.

To the OP: You handled some negative comments very wisely. Good job!

About reporting: There’s a standing rule, “Be Civil”, which applies both to the forums and the game. When someone breaks that rule, report them. It doesn’t matter if ANet ‘does something’ about them, that’s not the point. Reporting them is the proper thing to do because they did something improper—they don’t own the game or the events. Hopefully they were just having a bad day or something and won’t do that next time (even more hopefully there won’t be a next time).
