I love the idea behind the mega server concept. hope you guys can iron out the kinks and fully implement the system as soon as possible.
You should probably also include cities that are never used.
Which cities are used sometimes depends heavily on what server you’re on. RP servers tend to populate racial cities much more.
Part of the megaserver plan needs to be a revamp of the scaling mechanic – making sure fights remain interesting for the players doing them. With the likelihood of more consistent numbers, it is probably time to look at changing alot of fight mechanics – at higher end scaled fights – as well.
And at the opposite end of the scale, we have Golem…who takes a ridiculously long amount of time to kill once enough players come in and scale its HP up, who then proceed to auto-attack from out of AoE range.
I agree, scaling issues need to be addressed if there’s going to be more players on each map. They need to be addressed anyway for certain bosses, like you’ve said. I’m hoping if they haven’t considered re-scaling them in this patch, that there won’t be too many more players on average in each map than there have been.
On less populated servers, this stuff probably isn’t noticeable (temples hardly ever got done on my old server, so the specific bosses that go down way too quick at those weren’t a problem). On highly populated servers though, it’s been apparent for a while. :s
