I had Storm drop for me in the underground Labyrinth in Silverwastes from one of those little purple chests you have to gather there.

Nearly gave me a heart attack, because precursors are mythical illusions they don’t actually drop for someone like me…

Veteran fish below Honor of the Waves, in Frostgorge Sound. Dropped Zap.

Was waiting on the dungeon group to fill up and just killing stuff. The instance invite popped while the fish had about a third HP left. I almost just clicked the Enter button and left it bruised. So, so glad I didn’t.

I looted a The Legend from a cany corn elemental in the 2013 halloween event and I got a Dusk from one of those champ bags you receive while completing a LS episode.

Needless to say I was shocked and thrilled at the same time.

Bag of Gear from Silverwastes dropped me an Energizer.

What was weird that I didn’t even notice it at first. I linked it in Guild chat to brag (as I do with most exotics).

I only realized it was a pre when guildies replied “VERY NICE!” and “you lucky kitten” and such. I was surprised as usually they don’t care or say “gz”, so I checked again thinking maybe the rune is pricey or something.

If not for my guildies, I would have probably salvaged it, as I didn’t have the skin yet.

I had The Colossus drop from a champ bag. I don’t remember if it was a Silverwaste or World Boss rotation bag though, as I was doing both that day.

I got the energizer from mawdrey!!!!!!

I’ve personally had 0 drop.

But i’ve been in parties when the following have dropped

Threw 4 rare rifles in and got a Hunter out. Easiest 700g I ever made in any game.

While doing the Assist Bloodsaw Mill Workers heart near Bloodsaw Mill waypoint, a crimson Moa got in the way and dropped The Legend for me.

Funny you say this. Not sure if you are being honest or not, but on two different occasions someone in GW2 has sent me 50g without warning or request. I returned it both times though I forget why the second person sent it, but the first guy sent it because I had lost about 300g in the Mystic Forge, seeking of course, ironically a precursor. I think my story of sorrow affected them so much they tried to comfort my losses hah.

On a side note: People talk about how “toxic” this game is, but seem to forget that there are lots of people who go about doing awesome and amazing things for people. This is one of the best communities I’ve ever seen in a video game. And am proud to be a part of it.

A destroyer at the dredge camp in Eternal Battlegrounds (unfortunately it was an aquatic one, which are essentially worthless). That was however the weirdest 1 place out of a total of 1 places.

The one and only precursor I have ever gotten was an underwater one from of all things the reward for the trash collector achievement. I couldn’t believe it! My husband laughed and laughed. I sold it for 67g because if I am going to grind for a lengendary, it won’t be for an underwater weapon! I have played since early beta and that was probably my only drop.

I got 5 percursor drops, all of them as loot after conquering a tower in WvW. Funny enough, 3 of them were the Leaf of Kudzu, 1 was an aquatic weapon (cant remember) and the other I do not remember anymore (long time ago).

Dream too. I opened up a container in a dream and there it was. Unfortunately it was only big enough to fit in the palm of my hand.

You know you’re playing too much when you dream about something like that.

Never for me, but I was in Dry Top yesterday and someone got Dusk from a dust mite.

I didn’t loot any from drops, though had two in a row in the same day from MF – just said to my friend something like: “I have never tried the MF, probably I still have some luck there!” – and threw 12 yellows into the forge – got Storm. We lol’ed and I said something like: “check this out..” – and threw another 4 yellows with no hope of gettin anything, but got Leaf of Kudzu. That was really funny and made my day. I wouldn’t say that I freaked out since I already made a few leges through a vast amount of farming – that lucky rng was just a nice bonus. I did throw a lot of yellows into MF days afterwards with no luck at all, I guess I am not getting anything from there ever again

Also a few weeks later my friend got a dusk from SilverWaste lost bandit chest bag (not the chest itself – the bag).

Also seen dusk drop for a guildmate in dredge fractal (when it was still a pain in the…) – from a simple trash mob, not even an elite.

P.S. I wouldn’t really believe what people link/say in map chat – only friends or guildmates. Too many trolls out there.

My only precursor drop was a couple of weeks ago. In WvW on a Saturday map-flipping event we’d just taken out an enemy garrison and we’re having a cheeky go at Stonemist when a massive zerg of revenge seeking germans stomps us. Just before I go down I see a steel chest appear from one of the enemy dead. I think, ‘that could be your pre – go back and get it’. After two attempts to get back to claim it (kept getting ganked on the way) I manage to open it just before being downed again. Tooth of Frostfang…

My only precursor drop at ~3800 hours, Tooth of Frostfang.

I normally avoid giant (unless doing the champ train, which is exceedingly rare for me) because it takes so long to kill.

Edit: MF was at about 368% due to birthday booster and some other things, was just about 80 on a new character, so I stopped to poke at Giant.

Got the The Lover from one of the regular mobs hiding behind the bubble insta death shields in the TA dungeon, was quite the shock.

I finally received my first (and probably last! XD) precursor while playing EOTM (I play eotm daily but despite that didn’t get one in over 2900 ranks), and I was attacking enemies blasting at the wurm gate on the Badlands side. I used siege disablers and destroyed their rams with my fire spells and successfully made them leave.

Afterwards, I checked my inventory to see what loot I gained from the few players I also killed at the same time, and to my surprise I saw ‘Tooth of Frostfang’. Made an easy 500g or so and was able to buy a few shadow weapon skins and the shadow abyss dye, which I absolutely love and am using on a few of my characters.

Pistol precursor from trash mob in Maw… he annoyed me so much that I killed him, even though I was supposed to skip.
Scepter precursor from 2nd chest in CoF, way back when
Spear precursor from Nightmare chest. Nearly salvaged that one, because I hadnt unlocked skin yet ^^

HA I’m not the only one that got precursor from CoF.. I was on P2, and got Spark from one of the chests

My wife picked up Spark from a trash mob her first time running a level 1 fractal. She almost salvaged it for dark matter because she didn’t know what it was. Thankfully, people in my guild have a tendency to show off exotic drops after each fractal/dungeon run.

I got an underwater precursor defeating the High Wizard in Arah.
It is the only one that dropped for me so far (I play since the release).

So the ones that drop from mobs, will they always be in a steel chest?

I got Dawn while playing some Hotjoin from one of the reward track loot boxes. Sold it and bought the Hunter. Was a great day.

Jake from State Farm gave me one at 3am. He was wearing Khakis.

I don’t know about now because I received mine well over a year ago. At that time it was simply loot. Thanks for reminding me about the steel chests, I haven’t even seen one of those in 6-7 months alone lol.
