sigh

Lookie…. yet another dueling / gear progression / open world pvp / et all thread.

I’m sorry OP but it sounds like you want WoW… or Wildstar… or Tera… or Aoin… or Rift…or ArchAge…or any number of other games that already exists and offer what you’re looking for.

GW2 is not one of “those” games, and there is nothing wrong with that. There are plenty of other games out there that are “those” games, please go play one of those. We do not want GW2 to be one of “those” games.

/No to mounts (traditional style)
/No to open world non consensual pvp
/No to duels
/No to gear progression (gear grind We already have some thanks to some people. NO MORE!)
/No to group damage meters
/No to inspect

The only thing I’m “meh” on is the direct person – to – person trade. GW1 did have it; however, the devs clearly stated prior to launch that GW2 would not have direct trade specifically to cut down on scamming and other such issues that arise with it. It was an intentional design decision to reduce their headaches, and I’m ok with that.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Gear Progression

Yes, that was supposed to be prestige-only on GW2, supposed to have no stat progression beyond Exotic levels, but the Ascended gear pretty much opposes this, including the infusion system that is limited to it.

Yea, Fractals are ascended based rewards, but why not give us choice of not do insane grinding, perhaps only the infusions could remain as grindable part, and play ALL content with our Exotic gear, that could be upgraded to accept infusions…

The dungeon reward merchants pretty much are our “GW1-style-prestige-skin-armorsmiths”

I’m a casual PvE adventurer, I enjoy combat, adventure and helping, but not farming.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

Again duels are fine, in the mists. There is a mechanic specifically designed for just that. Just not in PvE anywhere.

Maybe I missed it, but afaik there is no option to 1v1 duel people in the mists.

You have to start or join a custom arena.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Custom_Arena
If you go to the browser, you’ll find several of them listed as 1v1 dueling. And thats what I, and others, are refering to. I know my guild has one just for 1v1, and PvP training.

I have to agree with most of the other posters.

Dueling: I don’t care if it’s unobstrusive, but I understand why ANet doesn’t want it. It’s hard enough to simultaneously balance 5v5 and zerg v zerg without adding in the need to balance classes 1v1.

Gear Progression: Is it enough to say “oh NO?” I don’t play enough to keep up in a traditional MMO. I have a job and a life outside of the game. I’ve quit other MMOs when I get to the point where I get ROFLStomped by someone who isn’t better but has better gear. No thank you.

Inspect: I don’t like the idea. But I can understand the desire for some kind of DPS meter. For example, in the mists I can see that it may be nice to be able to measure your DPS against the golems.

Direct trading undermines the major gold sink in the game.

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.

Thank you for making yet another thread to request features that have not only been requested in the past but literally beaten to death by a very vocal minority. I am grateful that you put in the request for these three features within a single thread so it makes it easier to say:

NO

It was WAY tl;dr, but at least I didn’t see the word “mount”. Right?

Many alts; handle it!

Tossing these GREATLY varied issues in together just destroys any support the OP would garner from me on these issues.

I saw Dueling and just quit reading….keep typing these threads OVER and OVER and see where that gets you.

What about capes ? Duelz was the first i saw and then i knew reading further is just a waste of times.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

It’s really not that insane of a grind, it’s very little effort. I’ve made about 15 ascended weapons, and 3 sets of ascended armor – one light, one heavy, and one medium.

If you are saying it’s insanely expensive, I could at least sort of understand that, but really, it’s not if you aren’t cheap and are willing to devote some of your gold to buying silk and some t6 mats.

gear grind in this game comes in the form of legendary weapon and it need a lot of grind why do you need even more/extra grind?
for dueling there is custom arena which can be bought with 200g but if you are into dueling stuff it worth it.
trading post is safe and sound way of business and good way for anet to keep economy in check always keep it as reasonable rate.
already u can ask people to ping gear for the party(zerk stuff and all) that is totally enough.
your post make no sense man,you might want to ask anet to delete it.

1) The entire point of the open world in GW2 is cooperation, not PvP. There are Arenas in the Mists that allow you the dueling you claim you want.

2) One on one trading was the bane of GW1 with Arena.net having to deal with constant complaints of scams. They washed their hands of it. We are why we can’t have nice things.

3) And there’s just as loud of a frenzy from people who can’t stand achievement points being used as a gauge of players. They’ll be even more kittened off by gear-related elitism. No thank you.

4) Gear progression is an inane, empty, stupid treadmill to keep you playing. I don’t want it in the slightest. It can stay away from this game, thank you.

You ask for those things and never get them BECAUSE “everyone” DOESN’T want them. In fact, I’d wager not even a significant minority want any given three of those things.

I know I sure as kitten don’t want any of the OP’s suggestions. Pretty much for all the same reasons you stated.
