So I started this game fairly recently, and I beat the main story on a free account. I ended up buying the game and now I started the HoT story.

All of the sudden apparently Caithe stole an egg or something from me and I’m just sitting here wondering when the hell this even happened. Did I skip a cinematic or something?

Living Story season 2.

If you have the money you can purchase the episodes you’ve missed for 200 gems each.

Make sure to watch the Living Story season 1 recap as well.

You stand to benefit more from making friends than making enemies.

Also I hate my user ID.

The full order of the story so far is:

  • Personal Story
  • Living Story Season 1
  • Living Story Season 2
  • Heart of Thorns
  • Living Story Season 3

Unfortunately Season 1 was only temporary – at the time that was Anet’s plan, lots of ‘festival’ style content which was only available for 2-4 weeks and then gone. It let them do some cool things (like have enemies take over LA so we had to fight to take it back) but caused a lot of problems too and the overall consensus was that permanent content is better, so they switched to the format we have now. The Story Journal will point you to a summary cut scene which covers the important points.

Season 2 is still available but needs to be purchased from the gem store (either with cash to gems or gold to gems or a mix of both) and if you’re interested in the story I’d say it’s well worth getting because HoT carries on immediately from the end of Season 2, so a lot of stuff won’t make sense unless you play through that first.
