So I’m on SoS, I hate it so fricking much. I hate the server mentality, it seems most people refuse to listen or just want to troll/farm rather than win. I was thinking TC because every time I’ve guested there it’s been a very nice experience but I want to get back into WvW which I can’t do when you guest. I don’t mind ques and I tend to like playing havoc squad style (like roaming but caping camps and harassing supply routes). So is there a server that fits my needs better?

Well… a very long time ago, back when server transfers were still free, I transferred to Kaineng for shorter queues and because a friend who no longer plays GW2 couldn’t get onto our then FULL server.

We stayed on Kaineng even after free transfers ended assuming that ANet would monitor server status and act accordingly.

Kaineng was awful at WvW, like.. the worst server out of ALL NA servers… and that attracted new people/guilds to Kaineng. New people came, Kaineng rose in rank and then… they left. Why? I don’t know. Some drama or exploit no doubt. Greener pastures. Kaineng sank to new lows and then, after some time, Kaineng’s largest guilds began to leave one by one.

The only reason Kaineng is even still considered a server is because it is hardcoded by ANet. There are not enough actual live players for Kaineng to qualify for MUD status much less MMORPG. We have no queues in any zone, ever, much less WvW.

My most recent semi-large guild members PAID to LEAVE Kaineng. Given Kaineng’s history, why would anyone transfer TO Kaineng while everyone else is trying to get off Kaineng?

I transfered to TC a while back, about a year ago actually, and it’s my favourite that I’ve tried. On the whole it’s a good experience, but we have our trolls, farmers etc too. I’m sure every server does. But yeah, I’d recommend it.

yeah but trust me nothing is worse than SoS trolls we had EA (not real name ofc) nothing is worse than that person….NOTHING. Also thanks for the warning about kaineng but i already knew how bad it was/is really should merge it with another server….

My guild moved to TC early after release and it’s been my home ever since. I can’t speak of other servers but I have been extremely happy on TC. I will offer you this one warning about TC though…..there….are….ROLEPLAYERS!!! If they creep you out as much as they do me, then you should run, RUN!!

If not, then heck ya, come on over. Can even message me in game and I can suggest a few WvW guilds that sound like they would be a perfect fit for you.

RP doesn’t freak me out all that much and i have decide to go to TC cept I cant transfer because of some bug (ya anet for saying my account has zero gems). So hopefully I’ll be able to join the TC community tomorrow

The answer is obvious: Transfer to the best server in the world, i.e. Desolation.

TC is the server of choice for PvE and does pretty kitten ed good at WvW too. Best community in the game, as far as I’ve been able to tell.

TC is a 50/50 server. There are some good aspects of it but I can tell you that at times it gets overcrowded and can be a pain to get things done at times. The server has some nice people, it’s active and in wvw it’s rather nice in there, I’ll list reasons not to join TC though since you’re going to want to know the bad..

1. Trolls, TC is pretty much like these forums, at anytime map chat etc can erupt into a troll fest full of idiots taunting each other and playing the devil’s advocate. It can be awful at times, anywhere crowded is usually bad, Queensdale, DR, LA etc. Prepare to be flamed by hardcore fanbois and dubious haters.. both are equally bad.

2. RP.. while RP is fun etc, it’s annoying when you’re trying to have a convo and you get spammed with terrible emotes or local chat.. and because for some reason emotes have such a HUGE radius.. you’ll get bombarded with them at times. It’s usually terrible stuff too. This happens a lot in certain areas not all of the server is like this.

3. Overly sensitive weirdos, TC has a problem with these types of people, while most consider them trolls.. I consider them crazy people who all gathered to TC for whatever reason, they cannot take jokes.. always offended and are usually rude. They scan the map chat looking to cry about everyone and everything that doesn’t fit with how or who they are.

4. Elitists, these guys are pretty rampant on TC. Prepare to have any build questions you have followed up with troll responses to authentic questions, they worship the meta and aren’t afraid to swear at you, kick you from party or point out how stupid they think you, your build or suggestion/complaint is.

5. Annoying discussions, while this may seem covered in my other pointers.. it takes a whole new level depending on who it is, watch in amazement as someone offers friendly advice, a suggestion or even a greeting and see it be transformed into something bad because someone didn’t like it or wants to make it about them.

6. The Guilds.. while many RP, Casual, life style guilds can be friendly the other members are equally if not obnoxiously rude. Where as sometimes you’ll meet some of the most interesting people who are friendly you’ll get rude obnoxious behavior from people who are supposed to be part of a “tolerant and friendly” guild.

I’ve been on TC for several months now and can say it’s a bitter sweet experience and have had much better times on small servers because the smaller the mob, the less likely they are to cause problems. I’ve made good friends on TC and watched friends quit or move servers because of it.

Also on a lighter note, you’ll see a lot of hypocritical trolls, breaking up champ trains etc and bragging about it, even making guilds dedicated to it and screwing up monthly groups etc, then these people get into LA and cry about how the zergs etc aren’t doing their part. TC is like the springer show at times.

Maguuma is fun. Enough population that if you show up to most events beforehand you can get into a zone without ending up on overflow, but enough people on overflow that you can still get some things done. For instance, LA events – pretty solid zerging together (barring bugs and kitten). Marrionette though, I don’t think we ever saw an overflow win all 5 paths and after the first week, even the mains weren’t trying hard enough. Solid WvW though.

Not sure if we have any serious RPers, but one guy in our guild mumble rocks the helium voice playing an asura. Hillarious…. most of the time.

Bahaha, yesterday I saw my first little group of roleplayers while doing map completion on Snowden Drifts. I literally thought they were NPC’s at first because they were in walk mode and there was 3 of them just walking around in the middle of the map. Then I accidentally highlighted them and saw they were actual players instead. I joined in on their walk and they stopped talking until I left so I left.

But anyways, I transferred to TC probably about a month and a half ago and I love it here. I moved from Anvil Rock because I just disliked how empty the world was. I originally chose Anvil Rock because it was supposedly the designated PvP server but I see just as many people if not more in TC’s HotM as Anvil Rocks. You will see almost everyone in the guild AARM though as you explore and the guild has over 1400 active members. If you want an invite to the guild let me know. They are always doing some event everyday.
