Guys… a patch is never needed to modify loot drop percentages…

Loot drop percentages are done server side not client side. If it was client side, loot percentages would be hackable.

But still would need a download.

When server side changes are done, a new build is created, so the game executable needs to be updated with that new build even if nothing changes client side, which is why when they do routine maintenance we still have to do a 48 megs download.

Not true. They don’t recompile anything to change loot percentages. They change a number in a database.

So by timing…..They were not implemented at the same time? ~or~ They were implemented at the same time just not together (hot fix/patch being separate)? Tbh whether it was hot fixed in or put in with the patch is irrelevant. What is of issue is not informing players of such a change. That creates dissent and furthers to aid ill will.

what happened to lyssa?

Basically there’s one point in the event chain where you have to destroy some walls, and while the walls are up, mob waves keep being spawned, including some veterans.. so some people were intentionally mantaining the walls up to keep the event going indefinitively to farm the endless waves of mobs, and at least in my case, if you didn’t know that and went to try to do the event by destroying the walls, got a few yells and verbal lashings. It was changed so that the mobs almost don’t drop any loot there, so there’s no point in holding the event indefinitively now.

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.

So there were changes to the Lyssa Temple, but there was no content changes in the update. So changes were made, but no content was changed… It was an update that did not do any change, so it wasn’t an update.

Now my head hurts.

There were an excessive number of bots at that location on several servers, so the spawns during the event (only) had their loot reduced. No changes were made to any creature outside the event, including wraiths in other locations. We tried to find the simplest, safest change possible. I hope that answers the question, but I really don’t want to get into a debate about “What is farming?” or “Does farming hurt the economy?” or “Economy? It’s a game, who cares?”

This is so discouraging…

Anet what do you want us to do? Really? Every farm spot keeps getting nerfed. It seems like are only looking out for the interests of the TP traders. What ever can boost their profit margins right?

What are we to do? Just farm events themselves? For 1.8s a pop with increasing long cd’s…

Farm hearts? What for 50c to 3s a pop?

Farm dungeons, maybe….but we get smacked with dr and not everyone has an army of alts…

DR, intentional reduction of loot drop were there can be a mass of mobs

I give up…

Back in November they scaled back loot drops and introduced DR in order to combat bots. There really was a huge bot problem but Arenanet to their credit has for the most part got rid of most bots.

But they failed to remove DR and they still scaled back loot drops and continue to nerf events.

Normal players are punished in addition to those guilty. You are only alienating your customers.

I don’t understand. They are against anti-farm, but crap like Legendaries require massive farming. They don’t want us to farm, even spots that never really effected people got nerfed. We have DR so why bother with farming spots that are way away from people, not including Lyssa on this but there have been others. For Anet to try and sit noble and say that farming isn’t required for this game you sure as heck make it difficult to get loot or even gold without actually farming.

I don’t know what cloud between no farming and DR lead you to believe that farming wasn’t required but you need to find a way to make it so people can actually get loot and money. Cause nerfing everything sure as heck wont make it better on us.

This sucks. I just got back to the game and it was nice to find a place to make some reliable gold.

Farming an area should not be deemed an exploit. It’s called the path of least resistance, which is something many gamers who play a game in a way that maximizes their efficiency will do.

Every time gamers find the path of least resistance, Arena Net nerfs it. That’s not fun. That’s the definition of griefing. A-net is griefing their playerbase to force them to play in a casual manner with others.

Pretty soon players will find another reliable source of income and that’ll be nerfed too. That’s not fair, and it’s mistreating people who have a keen and apt mind.

Oh yeah, one more thing.

You know how nearly impossible it is to bot Union WP? Wizards will knock you back and mess up your farm/looting. Vets will down you if you’re not stable in your hp/regen and that’ll really mess you up. Every time I showed up there I struck up conversation and had a chat with QUITE A FEW PEOPLE. This is not botting, this is SOCIALIZING.

We made our own event by showing up at UniWP and having a good time with others. I made a HUGE AMOUNT OF FRIENDS doing this event, something I don’t do chasing event trains in Southsun Cove with the seemingly anti-social.

There’s a video of me playing in UniWP. Watch the interactions between people. We’re here to socialize, farm and have fun. Not kitten up the GW2 economy.

I agree with this, why are we never allowed to farm any type of items? Don’t you want your customers to be happy?

The logic seems so backwards to me don’t ever let them obtain anything they want/need. ArenaNet logic > I’m sure they wont get tired of never being able to get what they want and they will continue to play.

Quit trying to make it excruciatingly hard for us, otherwise I guarantee majority of your customer base will get heft up and leave.

Who wants to keep playing a game that when the community works as a whole and they are having good times. You take it away from us time and time again.

Edit: A good example of community is our server actually has TS server. People enjoyed farming together and talking. So there goes your botting theories because a majority of people were not botting.

ok, so maybe its fair to pay 33% tax and then because of the issue of people avoiding tax, merchandise tax increase from 15% to 50% overnight good on you.

next thing they will do is increase the vehicle tax price to 200% of the vehicle value. making it 300% in total for a car and another 50% for tax, also per 100cc increase in HP will increase the price of roadtax by “Power of two”, then fuel prices increase in costs by 500% by todays price due to the fact that fuel producing countries want more profit before it runs out

anyway, whatever it is, the “botting” issue is just a cover. if you stay shut, more nerfs and loot reduction will come. until what point will you voice up and say that’s enough?

there are still loads of gold sellers, botters at other places etc. isnt there a better solution to prevent this? instead of making everyone suffer?

there are solutions that detect 3rd party software signatures and force close/force report, also they could make it protected so that it cannot be changed or manipulated by a 3rd party software..

Well penlites for braking laws like that are major to the point that they can get jail time. Its a way of saying if you play fair every one should be happily if you do not then you take a major risk. The truth is avoiding playing tax when you have a lot of money (i am talking about lying about how much money you made to the IRS etc.. not the charitable tax deduction) is more destructive to socially over all then most murders. Kind of a build in responsibility of being rich or having a lot of something kind of a truth of living with other humans its not good to hoard every thing for your self.

Back on topic if the changes was due to bots then its bots to be blamed. This game has an economically. One that is a key part to how GW2 runs with out it the game would not work as well as they makers wanted it to. You do not want to see ppl doing /m to sell things its both annoying for ppl who do not wish to read it and not safe due to no trading system and even with a trading system there are means to “cheat” a person out of there gold. Anet seems to be ok with a living player farming all day long if that what you want to do with your time so be it (CoF main example most would love to see this nerf) but when it comes to a non living person Anet is not ok with this. One living person can farm all day but they must stop from time to time to eat sleep WC etc.. and that one living person is just that ONE person so the amount of goods for there time is not that great in number. Once we get to a non living person we can have something pull items into the system endlessly with no stop and it open up for more then one of that non living person to be used. I am not sure about the duo boxing point of view on all of this.

yeah this i agree, hence the question, why are we normal players getting punished because of the bots?

why are we players getting discriminated and treated as a bot?

why isn’t there a different solution to combat botters or in general 3rd party app users?

why must everyone in tyria suffer because of 1 or 2 rotten eggs?

They are not being kicked from the game nor are they being asked to give up the gold they made from it. So they are not being punished. It just happens that a fix harms some players ability to farm. The aim was at the botter not the players.

Thy are talking about the Union WP event, part of the Lyssa Temple event chain. Someone realized that endless waves of Risen spawned if the event was not finished.

I noticed the change, now confirmed by a Dev, earlier. I was only there for about a half an hour and in that amount of time, got a few T6 mats and some silvers. This is about what I would get from the Melandru Temple event or Penitent, making it an average farming location. The drops from Wraiths, of course, have been reduced.
I will note that I’ve found the acquisition of T6 mats noticeably easier in WvW. I am always getting Unid Dyes as well, regardless of where I go. I got 4 yesterday in the course of doing dailies for example.

Ah yeah, I am so happy about this…

Also farming is fine, there are heaps of farming areas in the game and many ways to do it… You just want the one that allows you to manually bot (there is no skill or risk and huge reward)
Also the amount of vitriol that came my way for wanting to do the event and then actively coming down to the right bottom corner and raising the event difficulty and then not contributing (or killing the last abomination and making all of them spawn and kiting over to the npcs)
Exploiters can go suck it.

I have enough irritation against those who whine and complain at anyone who wants to take a dungeon straight without exploiting it let alone experience that stuff in the in game world.

Honestly if you are that focused on getting something for essentially nothing go play a zynaga facebook game you mooks.

Lol I actually got insulted for doing the molten facility middle room straight rather than huddling in the corner, now I was never downed, heck never got less than 90% health and actually dodged and jumped every attack in that room twice with no hits in my playthroughs… Wasn’t forcing them and yet I get sworn at, called a noob and so forth (keeping in mind this is a story dungeon that is easy enough to two man and my actions had no impact on them in the slightest other than maybe highlighting how useless they are)

Ofcourse certain dungeons have exploits or tricks that are needed to be used because they are just that unbalanced but usually this is not the case.
Path 2 of flame citadel for instance (this is coming from last year as I haven’t run it since then) but that section with the bomb and where you had to protect the guy placing the bombs… Unless your build was GOD AWFUL you could ALWAYS just run in and kill all the mobs, interupt them and drag attention as a group with decent play and wipe it first go without any deaths, but nope people had to do the whole “nooooo don’t do that -insert swearing- you run in and die in pairs and then respawn and run again”
ofcourse this has to have changed to some extent due to the whole respawn thing changing in the dungeons I guess. But my point was more about the intense stupidity of some players.

OH OH like the elementalist who left my party because he wouldn’t run AC with two mesmers, AC is EASY, all paths… r_r

Honestly if you are that focused on getting something for essentially nothing go play a zynaga facebook game you mooks.

everyone have their own play style mate, you dont like it you can choose a different group. you dont have to ruin it for everyone else around you.

you want to die, you dont need to use a nuke.

but farmers were ruining it for actual players there. Isn’t it the same as saying to a police man “why did you stop that thief? You’re ruining the fun for him!” without taking other people into consideration.

how are farmers ruining it for other players when other players can do what they wanted to do? there is no obstruction, no way we can interrupt normal players. besides you are a player and we are too. we aint botting or using 3rd party apps.

its kinda saying because im driving a koenigsegg and ure driving Mr.Bean ride, hence koenigsegg must be illegal just because it doesnt look and feel the same or it does more vs Mr.Beans ride.

so its fair to ripoff koenigsegg from me and give me a Mr.Bean ride too?

Cursing, insulting whispers, attempting to pull mobs on the person, telling him that you will never help him with the event. You’re also stopping a temple from being uncontested and are disallowing people from buying karma gear.
It would be like you closing the store because you bought the car. Us going “we want to buy our cars” and you going “well I’m not going to help you pick the lock that I should have unlocked or given you a key to unlock it with and if I’ll see a policeman I’m going to call him over while you’re unlocking it. Also remember that I will send you hate mail daily if you do this and don’t expect my help ever later in life.”
