How about Anet finish the 1st expansion and deliver what they promised.

What exactly have they promised for this expansion, that they did not deliver?

Missing a load of legendary items for a start, unfinished raid, working mega servers for HoT maps. I could keep going but I really can’t be bothered.

What I would like to see in the next expansion:

a) 1 Elite Specialization for each profession and maybe 1 more profession, having good elite specs much more important to me than creating new professions

b) Now that they go back and re-evaluate the need for dungeons, new dungeons. Maybe even add dungeons in HoT zones where it’s appropriate

c) More fractals based on famous points in the lore/story of the series. Excellent opportunity to explore more Guild Wars 1 lore, than making fractals on Guild Wars 2 lore.

d) 4 meta/event maps similar to HoT zones. The number is great and more than that would cause an unneccessary split in the community. The rest of the expansion maps can be non-warzones, based on exploration and more similar to old tyria maps, maybe around 4 of the exploration maps.

Alternatively they could have versions of the same map, to use HoT as an example, you could either join during the fight with Mordremoth in VB, follow the meta, or you could join an after-Mordremoth VB, to mop-up any Mordrem survivors and more heavily focused on exploration.

e) Mastery abilities based on the expansion content. This is too vague and it depends heavily on where the expansion will lead us, but a whole new number of Mastery points is to be expected.

f) More diverse storylines and multiple “personal stories”, instead of following one story, they could give the players multiple paths they can follow, each dealing with a separate storyline.

g) 2 new Guild Halls, and with it loads of new decorations and things for scribes to craft (after they fix their cost of course)

h) 1 new game mode for PVP, 1 new Stronghold map, 2 new Conquest PVP maps, a lot more Mist Heroes, the new PVP game mode could utilize the Mist Heroes too.

i) 1 new Raid instance. I’d rather as Raids move along and improve, to be much larger and open ended to allow some variety in the encounters you face, instead of always be the exact same thing. Something more along the lines of Underworld in GW1 you could do the quests in any order you wished

That’s it for now.

What I would like to see in the next expansion:
- The removal of HoT and Raids
- The return of armor sets

In the end continue what we had in the first 1.5 years.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Actually… I’d like to revise my answer.

What I’d like to see in XPac 2, though I know won’t happen, is a complete overhaul of the base game that would require enormous re-investment from the publisher.

The biggest problem with Heart of Thorns and Living Season is they lead to “Newplayer lockout”. The only thing HoT gives to new players is the Revenant class (And base game upgrades), while expanding the story only for those already level 80, and very little for those who like to level alts.

So, what I’d like to see is for them to… well, first off, a new elite specialization and new weapon available for every class (Out of the weapons we have available.)

Starting work on the addition of the Tengu Race, but that should be saved for Xpac 3 (Along with an overhaul of the underwater combat system. We should be fighting the underwater dragon threatening Kryta in that Xpac, and Krat threatening Ascalon in the upcoming one). This is gonna be big, but ultimately pay off if they can pull it off by bringing in a lot of new players, and getting players to return for the new low-level maps.

They should overhaul masteries by keeping the location-bound mastery points, but allowing XP earned anywhere to apply to the currently-in-training mastery track. Also – Mastery should be unlocked at an account’s first level 60, not 80, and it serves as “Account XP” shared between all alts, so you don’t have to choose between increasing mastery and leveling alts. Also – add two more mastery tracks: Crystal Desert+Ascalon (For the new XPac zone), and Orr (For those playing through the original endgame content). There should be about 2-3 more maps added, in addition to a revamp of the Ascalon maps to introduce the

I would like to say I absolutely detest and despise Living Story and its effect on the game, since it increases the gap between new players and new content. I guess they should keep it, though, as ‘Legacy’ content, since it’s designed to be played through while live, largely by players who’ve already caught up in the story. Or, they can rework Living Story 2 to be part of the level 60-75 “Mordremoth” Personal Story arc. (See below)

Instead… I’d like them to revisit the personal story, and add two new non-exclusive branches onto it through the story journal – In addition to the one for dealing with Zhaitan, we also get one dealing with Mordremoth, and one for dealing with Krat. So, yay! Options for playing through the story! And on that note – Silverwastes, Dry Top, and Verdant Brink should be de-leveled (Slightly nerfing the maps in the process, but only to recalibrate them for yellow/underlevel gear instead of max-level exotic gear – still keeping them tougher than their Zhaitan Counterparts of Sparkfly Fen, Straits of Devastation, and Malachor’s Leap.) – Also… replace the godawful map tier system of Dry Top with scattered Renown Hearts all over the place, letting it match Sparkfly Fen.

They’ll probably have to increase the number of Orichalcum and Ancient Wood nodes to make up for the loss of them in Dry Top and Silverwastes.

They should add several new Crystal Desert maps, but only 2 or 3 for level 80 characters. The others should be for levels 50-80 – picking up off from Blazeridge Steppes, with the new 50-60 new map ushering in the revamped Mastery system at the end of that branch of the storyline.

The idea here is to make the game more welcoming to new players – “End Game Starts At Level 1”, after all. This game has dynamic leveling after all, and long-time players can enjoy the new content just as much as new players can, while in the current HoT model, long-time players can enjoy the content, but new players are left behind.

- More maps (including pvp maps)
- New armor skins
- New Elite Spec
- New Legendarys
- Revitalization of the old (maybe starter low lvl) areas with more JP’s, new WvW bosses.
- Tyria having speed boots mushrooms, adrenal mushrooms and everything maguuma masteries alow you to have.
- Better and more usefull Masteries.
- Incentive to be in a guild tied to contribution.

For now from what i’ve played that’s what i can think of.

Expansion one (HOT) was about building foundational systems upon which to release new content. So, first and foremost, the new expansion should focus almost exclusively on new content rather new systems. This time around, they can put more energy into actual content.

With that in mind, I would expect it to look something like this:

- new story arc
- 5-8 new maps
- 1-2 new specializations for each profession
- 12 to 15 new fractals
- Expansive additions to guild missions (10 new bounties, 3 new puzzles, 5-8 new challenges, etc)
- 4-5 new pvp maps
- New legendaries
- New dynamic events on every map (including old tyria)
- Two new world bosses + new elder dragon map
- One new raid

That said, I think the LS update in July should look similar to this, with new stories, 1 or 2 new world maps, updates to guild missions and new dynamic events/world bosses – maybe about half of what we would see in an expansion.

They have put their foundation in place. From here on out, we should be looking for content first and foremost.

- specialisation quests, or at least lore regarding specialisations.
- I want new specialisations more like reaper and dragonhunter and less like tempest and chronomancer. I.e. one that takes something away from the base class so it is not a strict upgrade. For example, rather than give eles new weapons, I want the elite spec to replace an entire attunement with a new one.
- given that the last expansion introduced a lot of new things and the next one will be building off this, I think it is realistic to expect more maps than 4 (8 to 12 would be good) and a longer story. I liked the size and difficulty of the hot maps, so this is a good base to start from. Just ignore dragons stand. I don’t like the map. It’s basically a giant pug dungeon and has no place in the open world.
- I want the marketing for the expac to tell me how much content will be added via the living world.
- I want optional solo bosses as part of the story. Nothing you need to do, but something that allows us to have hard fights without people crying to nerf the story. The queens gauntlet had some of the best fights this game has produced and I want more of those. I also like the idea of optional side quests as a platform for expanding the lore/story.
- a long open beta test for the new wvw map. Wvw is community driven and a restricted beta can never highlight the issues with the maps (as we should now all understand)
- more skins and masteries for wvw. Perhaps even reward tracks.
- more armour skins in general. What would be good is a new set of white, blue and green armour as random drops, on top of the rare and exo armours gotten via vendors and achievements.

That is basically it. Hot was good, but just too small.

Guild Wars 2: Rise Of The Skritt

Playable Skritt is the obvious necessity for a successful second expansion. And more shinies.

More shinies + playable Skritt = Best. Expansion. Ever.

Well since HoT proved that ANet has no problem selling things which should have obviously been a function of the base game, I’d like to have hair when wearing a freaking hat, heck I’d buy an expansion just for that.
