Why are there no anti stacking attacks
Plenty of them exist, like Subject Alpha for example. People still stack Alpha because it’s relatively easy to dodge the attacks, even if they’re on top of each other. Many bosses in fractals, like Archdiviner and Mossman, etc., also have high amounts of cleave, and people won’t stack on them because of that.
Why gw2 don’t have a mech thats been around in mmorpg for a very long. Chain attacks that hit nearby target for increasingly damage within certain range or an aoe attacks that does more or less damage depending on how many ppl are stacking. That way you can have fun bosses that required both stacking and breaking away from each other.
AOEs in the game as is do that.
Go look at Balthazar – he drops warbanners and aoe fields that can kill you in 5 seconds.
I think AOEs alone are enough for this game when you consider balance.
Try stacking Mossman, Archdiviner, Lupicus and Ginva.
The first two require a lot of co-ordination and breaking away from each other, the third has semi-targeted AOE projectile attacks and then life suck and AOE life drain skills which force a player or the group to briefly disengage and Ginva is pretty hostile to both ranging and stacking.
They’re all interesting encounters, but the one thing they all have in common is that your average player will just attempt to range and kite around in circles rather than even trying to interact with the mechanics so the only people the fights will even be interesting for are organised groups.
…then again that’s not a bad thing. If Mossman had a larger character model like Ginva he would be a fantastic fight.
Game over, yo.
