Norn Guardian – Aurora Lustyr (Lv 80)
Mia A Shadows Glow – Human Thief (Lv 80)
Regarding the recent blog post about the Mordrem Guard, is there an explanation as to why Scarlet Briar’s appeance didn’t change to be that of a Mordrem Guard?
Is it that she, had some end game besides having Mordremoth as a master? If so, is this something that will be answered in the HoT story?
Just wait … the Mordrem Guard are clones. I will savor the outcry when a new and improved Scarlet returns as a Mordrem Guard.

Mordremoth hadn’t awakened yet and probably couldn’t initiate that change.
I felt the Season 2 narrative quite clearly showed that Scarlet wasn’t entirely Mordremoth’s thrall. She was still “fighting” him in some respects.
Scarlet was never under Mordy’s control. She used the machine and saw the Eternal Alchemy, in the process opening her mind up to be influenced by Mordy. This drove her insane.
Now, remember that at this time Mordy was still asleep. She was being influenced by it’s dreams. That’s a far cry from being “under it’s control.”
There was also some foreshadowing that she wasn’t working against Tyria after all, that she was working (in her insane, homicidal, megalomaniacal way) on a problem that’s bigger than the dragons. I think that’s a stretch, and I have my own theory about where Anet is going with the dragon storyline, but whatever. Scarlet was certainly never corrupted enough to be considered “Mordrem.” In fact, Mordrem never even showed up until after her death and the dragon awoke.

That’s what I thought.

And what I have expected/been hoping for.
I figured the end of LS revealed that she was succumbing to its influence but was still herself, as insane as she’d become. The guard seem to have given themselves fully to the dragon. Perhaps she was also given some leeway to complete her objective, some independence despite ultimately still serving its will (similar to some of Zhaitain’s lieutenants, like the ones encountered in the novels).
