Sonya for females. (necro,rev,ranger,mes,engi)
All classes lvl 80.
What always bothers me more is that when your character dies, you just go back to some waypoint. But this isn’t true for the rest of the people living in Tyria. So whenever a character is killed off in the story, I’m thinking “Why don’t they just waypoint out?”
So many comments and yet no one points at the elephant in the room. Characters don’t die. They are defeated. These two are not the same. Players tend to say “res pls” but they should be saying “rev pls” as in Revive me.
My character has been alive since launch. I have yet to see her eat, sleep, drink, urinate, or defecate. How is my character still alive anet? HOW?
That is because you’re a silvary.
No, Sylvari don’t defecate, they fertilize…

Sugar tends to be a byproduct of many forms of plant energy production and respiration.
Yup, you sweeten your coffee with plant poop.
Excelsior.
This thread is very interesting. First of all, I also thought about that as a kid when my dad played “Das Schwarze Auge” on MS-DOS. The characters there get hungry, thirsty and ill after a while and I was confused when he saved and shut down the PC, what happens with the party still in the dungeon..
Nowadays, when I log off I make sure my Asuras are in some sort of building or other shelter. Well, ain’t I nice?
About dying, I handle it like Borderlands: The Waypoints create a copy of my DNA/body state and when I die, I get teleported back and restored to that point; unlike in Borderlands 2 where it costs me money. We have the technology, we have the abilitiy to teleport, so why not having a little device (like a pacemaker) that checks our vital states and keep us alive – but unconcious? Like tablets, laptops and such that go into deep hibernation mode.
But then, there is the perfectionist in me that needs to be clear that death =/= death.

I have taken to having Sir Cork /sleep in interesting places when I log off. It’s not just you
Tonight I’m sleeping in a monument in Lion’s Arch and hoping the guard doesn’t run me off for loitering.
When you log , waypoint or use an Asuran gate, You go behind the scenes like at a theme park where there are lounges. and all sorts of amenities including bathrooms where you can take a break. While it seems only seconds betwwen screens is actually hours in the alt dimension.
Well, that explains the absurd length of some of these loading screens .
She does all that stuff when you log out.
This is a good plausible explanation, but our characters are controlled by us. They have no independent movement or thought etc. So this can’t be done unless anet has created a bot to do this for us while we are logged out.

I guess that means LA has the best VIP section. That map takes the longest for me to load, so there must be a lot back there distracting my character.

If you’re going to play that card, then — since the characters have no existence independent of our playing them — they are puppets, not people. Puppets need not eat, sleep or excrete.
