Will there be changes to Scarlet's attack?
Meh, strip event mobs of loot and instead increase the loot for successful event completion to match. Do this across the game, and the event farming issue would fix itself over night.
Every issue with events in this game for over a year has been tied to event mobs dropping loot. People were farming various Lost Shore events specifically for this since day one, because it was more profitable (outside of karma) than chase down random mobs around the maps or even look for other events to run. You simply had to camp these locations with fingers on your most effective AOEs.
There are some changes in the upcoming release to mitigate the severity of this problem. We’re also looking at making some long-term improvements to the Twisted Clockwork invasions.
You guys should really consider what it mean to fail on this event. This is a zone wide event (much more space than a dragon) that has no impact on the world when it fails (or I can say when Scarlet wins). What is she after anyway?
What is she after anyway?
She wants:
1. To break every mirror in existence so she’ll never see her own face again
2. To prevent the Shatterer from landing
3. Queen Jennah dead
4. To see what our insides look like
5. Our loot
I feel sorry for those who which to try and complete this now, I feel its a lose/lose for them,
If anet nerf ( which is bound to happen ) the champ spawns, the masses of people that still actually go to these events will stop, as it will not be worth the 45 mins, thus making it harder again for those who wish to complete it,
If they leave it alone, those again who wish to complete it will be at the mercy of the people who want to farm for loot, ( which honestly can you blame them, as even with the updates happening, loot is still lacking in this game )

Yup. Anet did exactly what you suggested. Stripped the mobs of loot and increased the loot for event completions. What happened? Well take a look at Lost shores. or Orr before the champion loot patch. The event farming was stopped… people stopped showing up for events completely.
The conflict of interest is that some people (many) people only want the best reward/time option. If the scarlet event does not provide that then they will not show up.
That isn’t good for the people that want an epic zone wide fight. It isn’t good for the farmers, it isn’t good for the WvW crowd. It pretty much doesn’t serve anyone but the people that just want to complete that singular event, for whatever reason they want to complete it.
My 2-cents:
1. Change how killing Aetherblades counts towards the bar. Instead of it being after event completion, make it exactly how the minions are and make the individual kills count instead.
2. Up the end rewards SUBSTANTIALLY. 26 silver(I think that’s how much you get) and a few loot bags and ore isn’t worth the 30+ mins a successful run takes. If it doesn’t already, how about a chance at an ascended? Maybe one guaranteed exotic. Better yet, how about giving invasions wins the highest chance for a precursor in the game. I don’t mean 25% chance or something crazy like that. Perhaps increase it .5-1% over other methods of receiving it. For example, if its a 1% chance of getting it of a mob, make an invasion win have 1.5% chance or something like that. (Side note, the numbers are just for illustrated purposes)
3. Minions should have more champs spawn.
4. I like the idea of withholding champ rewards till completion, but with the chance to get dced in the middle of one and getting nothing because of it is reason enough not to go that route.
5. Maybe reintroduce achievements for them as another reason to complete them.
I have a suggestion for Scarlet;
Can you please leave me the hell alone? I am sick and tired of waypointing in to an event and then spending the next 40 mins having her chase me around the map 1or 2 shotting me, even when I absolutely no where near her units, the zerg, or event markers.
Its gotten so bad for my ranger I have taken to deliberately leading scarlet out of the way so she doesnt target anyone else. I will WP as far away from commander tags as possible, run away from event markers and other players and simply not engage any of her units. It is the ultimate in “taking one for the team”.
As a side note, if you really want to know what changes are coming as early as possible, move to Seattle and get a job with ArenaNet. ;-)
The only reason I’d like to know more in advance of what they plan to do is to be able to try to stop them from implementing the dumb ones. Way too many times we are getting stuff we don’t ask for, don’t want, and which is counter to the premise of the game we originally purchased. It has been like buying an upgradable computer only to find out that the periodic upgrades are turning it into a DVR.
I couldn’t care less about knowing anything in advance if I trusted these folks to surprise me with something appropriate to the game they promoted.
Fair. But I think you’re forgetting about how the decision-making process works. This game is not a collaboration between gamers and developers. It is a product of a company. It is a deliverable, not an open-source collaboration.
If you don’t like it, you can and should vote with your feet. But you don’t get to demand that you be included in the review process for changes. These forums offer you an incredible opportunity to provide feedback, but I think you’ve gone too far in expecting ArenaNet to include the community in their decision-making process to such a high degree.
Go back and read my original post. I never demanded anything. I SUGGESTED that the game would be better off if ANet passed some of their ideas and decisions by the player base first before implementing them. If they actually paid attention to the responses they’d head off a lot of the negative feedback they’ve been getting for just tossing stuff out there that nobody asked for and nobody wanted.

Well, what do you know … at least one part of ANet seems to have finally understood what I meant, even if you are unable to do so.

Watch as they take the lazy way out and just nerf all loot and reward as their “fix”, as always.
It will go well with the ascended grind.Keep up that optimistic attitude, it’ll take you places.
Seriously, Let’s wait and see what these changes will be before dumping on the Dev’s.LOL. Guess you haven’t seen all their other quick fixes? Gauntlet? Karma?
If I’m wrong, I’ll come back here and eat my words.
BALANCE, BUG-FIXING, POLISH
Twisted Watchwork InvasionsMolten Alliance and Aetherblade phases now occur in between Twisted Watchwork phases.
Fixed a scaling issue with Molten Alliance manhole gadgets.
The bulk of the bonus rewards for battling Scarlet’s invasions are now given to players who successfully defeat an invasion. There is still a small bonus reward for each additional wave defeated.
I’m shocked, I can actually eat my words!
No idea what this really means, though, since I haven’t had the chance to do this event post-patch.
