If you had really wanted to get to people, you would’ve added in structured GvG battles. And GvG tournaments.

I’d expect for the first Patch after the Living Story Arc 1 Ending something like this:

THE WINGS OF HOPE & SHELTER
The Time has come, where living in total isolation has to come to an end.
Seeking for Peace and Freedom, the Destruction and Desvatation outside of their lands rumble on the walls of protection they have build up to shelter themself.
But the destiny has an other role for them. Fate is calling.
You won’t find freedom, if you hide yourself and don’t face your destination.
Now its time to free yourself up from your chains of fear and to fight for your freedom and peace, because dangers in Tyria won’t be held up eternally from just some walls.
Tyria has lost many brave warriors in the battles against the Elder Dragons and in the conflicts of stopping the Terrors of Scarlet Briar’s Alliances that have weakened the Pact Army so far, that one of their prime towns of Tyria even had to fall.
But don’t lose faith – reinforcements are near to spread their wings of shelter over the struck Pact Forces to give them new hope and to overcome their own past.

THE GATES HAVE BEEN OPENED!
In the 1st March Release:
With Scarlet Briar being defeated, the Enemy is demoralized, but not finally beaten yet.
Both sides have given everything in the final battle against Scarlet, but defeating Scarlet had cost a big price to the Pact.
Many lost their lives in the final battle on both sides and the remaining enemies retreated to the ruins of Lions Arch and the Gendarran Fields lead by Mai Trin who betrayed Scarlet Briar and is the reason for the falling of Scarlet.
Mai Trin prepares for the final assault to bring an end to what has been started with Lions Arch attacking the Walls to the Dominion of Winds.
With the help of Ellen Kiel, Rox and Taimi, Players are going to explore the lands behind the Dominion Walls and enter Sanctum Cay, the Town of the Tengu, where they protect the refugees from the remaining enemy forces lead by Mai Trin

LION’S ARCH UNDER WARFARE
The Invasions of Scarlet Briar have come to an End, the Marionette Attacks have stopped. Lions Arch has become the final battlefield where Invasions will occur to ensure, that the Pact won’t rebuild Lions Arch so easily again with a new temporarely small sized World Boss.

NEW IN THIS RELEASE

Playable Tengus Its time! – Time for new allies. Choose your Birdie of your personal likings that you have ever dreamed off playing and be your Tengu of one of four houses of the winds.
Be either a Tengu from the Tribe of Caromi from the Northerly
Or a Tengu from the Tribe of Avicara from the Southerly
Or a Tengu from the Tribe of Quetzal from the Westerly
Or a Tengu from the Tribe of Angchu from the Easterly
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:C4_Tengu_concept_art.jpg

  • With the new playable race of Tengu gets added also 1 new Class/Weapon – the Lancer as a new Soldier Class adding Polearm Weapons to the Game, as Tengus are known in the Dominion of Winds for their Lancers that guard the Walls.
  • With the New Weapon, certain specific Classes receive some new Skills also.
Among them the Warrior, the Guardian, the Ranger and the Necromancer
  • But also other existing Weapons get added to all the Classes.
  • Underwater Combat gets completely rebalanced and improved with additional Weapons for Underwater Combat, like Daggers, Swords, Axes, Maces, Focus and Torches as also splitting the Trait System into Land and seperate Water Traits

New explorable Maps
This Release will add mainly 3 new Maps.

  • Sanctum Cay – The Home Town of the Tengus and the next location of where the Zephyrites will visit the players over the next months
  • Sea of Sorrows – A large Water Map with only a few Islands to explore that will be used for new Features – Naval Battles and Underwater Dungeons
  • Tarnished Coast – A mysterious Place, where some strange new Monsters have been found that are looking like Minions of the Deep Sea Dragon stranded from the Strait of Malchior aiming for the Grove – the Pale Tree is in danger! and needs to be defended.

Thats what I expect from the very first “Feature Patch” after the Ending of the 1st LS Arc. Still a little bit Story, but with 90% focus on addign new features that could be easily based on the Living Story as logical additions to the game.

- Playable Tengus
- Lancers as 3rd playable Soldier
- Polearms and Weapon Expansions for all Classes
- New explorable Maps including naturally the Tengu Town Sanctum Cay
- Naval Battles
- Underwater Dungeons and seperate Underewater Traits/ Underwater Skill Rebalance
- Town Invasions in Lions Arc replacing the Map Invasions with a new temporary World Boss as replacement for the Marionette

I think, all this in 1 first big Feature Patch would be just super awesome.

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

Honestly both sound like a good idea. But i think i would go for the second option as it includes a new different play style and new ideas that can be toyed around with. Sadly, knowing arenanet for the past few patches, i would expect to see the retaking of Lion’s Arch first. We first have to stop Scarlet which we know has two patches left including the attack on Lion’s Arch. The last patch might be a foreshadowing of what Arenanet has been doing in the shadows of their mysteriously spooky dungeon of forced laborers.

So I wouldn’t be so sure the Tengu are just ready for release yet as it would take some time to fabricate their story and add so many new dungeons and such

and My idea of an update would be “The Cost of Isolation”

The few Tengu in the world would Vanish. Smoke and Flames would be seen rising from the Dominion of Wind.

Vigil Airships dispached to investigate would find a blasted, smouldering zone totally over run by Destroyers. No surviving Tengu to be seen.

Players would breach the gates, and attempt to find Survivors, and ascertain whether or not Primordus was making some of the surface world his own. Dominion of Winds would be a high level explorable where you fight Primordus’s Lts much like Claw of Jormag.

In the zone players would encounter a few of the Dwarves.. a small remnant still single mindedly pursuing thier “Great Destroyer” even to the surface.

The lesson of the Tengu would be that no walls, no place is safe. Withdrawing from the world means no allies when times are desperate.

A few Tengu would survive. Perhaps a couple of besieged outposts.

This would of course negate any possibility of a playable Tengu Race.. and to complaints regarding that, well. “Living World” “Consequences” and “Nothing is off the table”.

Since the player base seems to delight in destruction of game zones and “change” this would be perfect.

Ley lines. The perfect solution to deadlines and writers block. Now in an easy open Can.

I think, we will still have to wait alot longer, with anet focusing for now just mianly only first on the Expansion and the Living Story around the Maguuma Jungle.

Sure, we might see also neutral living Story Patches after Hot that focus on buildign up LA again, but at the current scenario, I would be just pleased enough to see just a little bit more progress in LA.

Must not be a complete rebuild (would be total unrealistic anyway when from moment a to b all is changed completely, its a slow progress. Rome has’t been build up in 1 day either xD)

But I would be pleased to see as progress, when we would see over a while of say 2 weeks some tiny changes daily, that more and mroe of the huge wreck parts for example slowly disappear, that more of the bridges get finally 100% repaired withpout having any holes anymore, that alot of rocks and stones diseapper where they don#t belong to, that the weather changes a bit there, making the map look not so post apocalyptic anymore ect.

that would be stuff for a good start. and thigns that should be easily changeable.
