Would you buy more skins via gemstore for your character/s if there was no armor weight restriction?

I’m just curious how other people feel on this. Could be an old subject but…. it’s new to me!

I dream of my Guard wearing the light armor phoenix skins sometimes. Siiighhh. xD

Without a doubt the answer to this is going to be a resounding YES for most people…

But armor not being restricted by weight class is extremely unlikely to happen.

No not really as I like the differences in skins for the classes (mybe with the exception of the near mandatory longcoat for mediums…

The fact it’s class bound does give me the feeling they are something different…

I remember the release of the Noble Count(ess) outfit and 70% of the population wearing it… it was horrendous. No more personality to any character or class…

I couldn’t buy any more skins. I already bought them all … except for Toxic and Outlaw and things like boxing gloves that were all too ugly for my tastes to ever use. But none of those are armor weighted.

I have enough alts of all weights that someone will have a use for any weight skin I buy.

I would, but this usually has to do with medium (and sometimes light) armor being so boring and lacking in choices at times.

Like picking pants for a light class or picking something that isn’t pants for a medium class.

My thief, ranger, and engineer wear the mismash they have on right now because I was sick of trenchcoats.

Why limit it to gemstore armor? Why not let all genders of a specific race wear whatever armor that race/gender have access to? Mixing and matching armor can still be restricted to armor weight.

I’d really love it if my human female warrior and guard had access to some of the medium armor skins.

Unfortunately, I doubt this will ever happen.

I’d really like to see warriors get more leather looking skins somehooow! It’s suiting to them. The same as I see Ranger’s future spec Druid looking great in some Light armors.

It’s bad enough trying to guess a class that’s wearing a costume with out targeting them in WvW or PvP(unless you have the PvP standard models switched on). So no thanks.

Undoubtably people would buy more if more choices were opened up to them. However since that’s not a likely possibility anytime in the near future let’s ask for what is more likely, armor that isn’t steorotyped in appearance for its weight. For example, medium armor without buttcapes and long coats and heavy or light in style. Same for the other armor weights.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Oooh! What if they made like, superior transmutation charges that let you ignore weight restrictions in the wardrobe? That doesn’t sound that impossible, and it would give them a new gem store item to sell.

This has already been discussed in a number of threads but essentially, they said the different armor weights are incompatible and there are no plans to make mixing of armor available.

I might, but probably not. I also might buy more skins if they were armor skins and not outfits. I’ll never buy an outfit because it is the antithesis of what I’m looking for in a skin.

I wouldn’t. I liked the system in GW1 where every class had it’s own armor-design. In GW2 this system is more loose. Here the skins are only divided into heavy, medium and light armor. Still, most of the time it gives each class a characteristical look (there are exceptions for example when a mesmer looks like a nekro etc).

I already heavily dislike the non-costume outfits, since they destroy a part of the class’s identity. Still they aren’t too popular and I still have the option to outfit my character in something that clearly categorizes him/her as heavy/med/light.

If the concept of heavy/med/light armor-skins ever gets scrapped I’ll most likely stop playing. At least until it’s reintroduced.

I would buy more if there were finally some new armor sets at all, but thanks to
the “we don’t want armor set in the shop, we better grind 100 hours for them”
fraction all we get will be boring outfits.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

If we’re just talking about skins and its purely a cosmetic choice then my answer is ‘maybe’. It might be that I’d find a skin of a different armor weight that fits my character perfectly, but I also think the separation makes sense and I’d have a hard time picturing an ele in full plate (for example).

What I would like however is a system that some games have ( DnD games and Dragon Age Origins for example) where anyone can wear any weight but the stats have distinct trade-offs which make certain ones more practical for certain classes, to me that’s a more interesting way of doing it. Both because it means the restrictions make sense and because it opens up the option to try and get around them if you want that challenge.

But that probably only works in trinity games, and to me there’s more downsides to that system, particularly in a multiplayer game, than benefits.

I probably would. Being as outfits can already hide what type of weight armor class you are, it would make sense to just allow any class to wear any skin.
