Added to that:

  • In-Game Representatives to attend to player’s needs.
  • Possibly a fix on the servers as well. Maybe make 3 main servers for WvW. Being in the top 3 servers, we’re used to playing the same servers over and over. Might be better to combine more people together and make a more epic and dynamic environment.

If I had a billion…. Hmmm. I’d spend $1k on gem cards, that’s about it GW2 related. I honestly wouldn’t invest in something I had no say or financial benefit from. We can’t even directly make request as it is.

I’d create several businesses that I’ve always wanted to. Jobs are still needed right? Besides, Anet is already a stable business.

First of all i would buyout ArenaNet from NCsoft and give them full independence to what they create.

i have a bad news for you.

Anet claims continually to be really independent on GW2.
So they are the only responsible for any success or failure.

I have bad news for you. Anet and NCsoft are not partners like we are seeing with Wildstar, so that’s not entirely true. The key reason why Wildstar devs put out a statement about how they’ll handle their economy is because so many people like me were worried about it since NCsoft is partnering with the Wildstar team and it’s the key reason why people were initially worried about the ui elements at launch of Wildstar.

so the OP’s concerns are very very valid in this case.

I’d do the same thing OP I’d have them hire a massive balance team to get things rolling on improving overall the three weakest classes, their pets, and the system of combat that uses support and conditions FIRST before any other concern (bugs and design flaws).

I would put the Canthan district back in place.

And implement the Tengu and Largos as playable races, unlockable in the gem store for a small fee.

And rework the entire gear and gem store system so now there’s unlocks and lockers for PvE gear, town clothes and toys, instead getting one-use perishable items that are gone forever once you lose them.
If you can’t get it again anytime of the gear by playing, it should be an unlock. Like the HoM items, but on its own panel in the bank instead in a vendor.

And rework some of the inconsistencies with GW1 like all giants suddenly looking like cyclops instead being like GW1’s giants with tusks, and the other types of skale and skelk nowhere to be seen, or no other types of walking plants instead just the walking tree type, and all skelk now looking like most GW1’s reptilian nightmares instead, well, like skelk.

SUGGEST-A-TRON says:
PAY—ONCE—UNLOCKS—ARE—ALWAYS—BETTER.
No exceptions!

If I had 1billion dollars I’d just buy GW1 and hire a dev team.

Honestly, I would be okay with that.

All in all, if I had a billion dollars to spend on Guild wars 2 (not the first game), I would see what I could do about making Anet financially independent.

I would then work on making true OpenGL linux and mac ports for the game (not a Cider port).

After that, I would start expanding into Cantha and Elona—probably with Elona first because it is closer geographically (And I liked it better).

Due to the expansions, I would combine the paragon and ritualist into a spiritualist class called a “sunspear” (basically binds spirits to the ground, and the spirits echo paragon shouts to improve effectiveness and range). The Dervish would make a return, along with two more professions for Cantha (one of which might be the Zaishen). I would introduce Undead (thanks to Palowa Joko) and Hylek (possibly margonites too) as races playable from the Elonian expansion and Tengu and Naga (Or a water-specific creature that once inhabited the jade sea, possibly the LArgos) as races playable from the Canthan expansion.

For story arcs, Palowa Joko would beg for Tyrian help to defend against another dragon. His life would again be spared and he will live forever in shame. In Cantha, though, everything is fine. The Imperial Forces have actually made deals with the Mursaat and have maintained a state of human-only peace. Because of that, the other races have been trying to regain their land.

From there, there is another obvious expansion northward into norn territory and underground again into asuran territory.

Honestly, though, Anet has done a very good job with the game. It is incredibly fun and replayable. Though I’m still not a fan of the new skill system, it is definitely a step in the right direction from other MMO’s.

I would buy the person who claimed the character name “alissah” out…
I had it in the beta, but when i tried getting the name at release i spent too much time creating a character and couldnt get the name :’(.

I try to whisper said person every day but they are just never online… ever.

If i cant buy the person out, ill just bribe teh devs to delete the character, since he/she probably doesnt play anymore anyway :o.

Oh, i would also buy my own spot in the balancing team and “balance” the mesmer.

Honestly…
I’d make all ascended gear have changeable stats out of combat like the mentioned new Legendary weapon feature so we can get back to enjoying the game instead of grinding for every imaginable piece of gear just so you can run a slightly different build.
&
I’d hire enough teams to go around so PvE, PvP, WvW, and all other off-shoots have, equal focus and making sure they have enough money to keep up the good work.

That being said…
I’d have to say though I’d probably try to get these constant live updates more focused on the original Lore. We have so much left undone. (Elona, Cantha, Dessert, Northern Tyria, Dragons, etc.) We could easily make years and years of new content with just the old GW locations but instead I’m stuck with these content updates that bore me to death. I got into GW because of the lore and the lore feels completely dead. I don’t think I’ll ever get to see more of it.

I miss playing Guild Wars and the story that unfolded as you progressed through the missions. I just don’t get that feeling anymore. Maybe it’s because I’m older. Maybe it’s because there’s actually no story content or the fact that what story content there is feels so far apart. Either way I really need some meaningful, story driven, content not this filler arc stuff animes do when they got to wait for writers to catch up, or to just extend the show. (Bleach is perfect example of this)

So my question is guys and girls, what would You do if You had 1 billion of $ only to invest on GW2.

For me

First of all i would buyout ArenaNet from NCsoft and give them full independence to what they create.

Second i’d try to convince Mike to hire more programmers, so it would be possible to assemble group of 10-15 programmers that works ONLY on fixing bugs, ofc i would rotate those ppl with guys from living story teams etc, so the work won’t be so boring.

Third i would like Mike to create 5th content team, that would consist same amount of ppl as ppl from all 4 living story teams. This team would be responsible for making BIG mini expansions every two months that would add additional stepps into presonal story, new 1-2 dungeons with story and explorable paths, new 1-2 fractals, new pvp map, new additions to the WvWvW, and i would expand dynamic events more, delete some old ones and exchange them with new ones.

Fourth I would ask Mike to assemble pvp balancing group that, but in addition except desingers, pvp content desingers etc., the team would consist each class top player from the ladder to discuss some balance adjustements. They would have dedicated forums. Each set of players would “be” in the team for one month.

Fifth i would add more money into content than marketing, so if ArenaNet worked on new expansion more money would go to content than marketing. More dungeons, more events, more pvp maps and modes, more WvWvW modes and featers…all more more more more

6th ArenaNet should have team dedicated for gem shop, they would work only on stuff that would be added to the is. No rng stuff, just real and actuall set skins, fluffy stuff etc.

Thats now for me, what’s Your ideas community??

i would add , have them bring back the seperation of pvp and pve versions of skills , save some grief from both sides for balancing that gets looked at being done purely for pvps sake , which has been hurting pve.

In all seriousness, I wouldn’t waste my money like that. I’d take the good aspects from other mmorpg’s like items, materials, crafting, dungeons, armor, and weapons and put those into the game. Then I’d hire some programmers that know what they’re doing to balance the classes, and voila, a new game that people want to play.

I’m struggling to see how straight-up copying is a good idea, as opposed to improving what we have now.

Then I’d hire some programmers that know what they’re doing to balance the classes, and voila, a new game that people want to play.

Implying people don’t want to play now?

Also, I’m pretty sure programmers aren’t the ones who balance the classes.

No, I wasn’t implying anything. I was actually thinking about how anything I create would probably turn out crappy and unwanted, so I threw in that “a new game that people want to play”. And I missed a “hopefully” in there. It was supposed to be “a new game that people hopefully want to play”.

And as to your other point: Debatable. I’m sure programmers have to collaborate with other people that know how to balance the classes and then program it into the game themselves. (I think). I don’t really know how Anet does that anyway.

Ahh, it did sound like you were implying that.

From recollection, before launch I’m pretty sure they said they had tools that allowed them to make quick changes to skills and such. That to me seems it’s more likely to be a program created by the programmers to create and edit skills, as opposed to skills being hard-coded.

Oh, I see. That would make a little bit more sense than starting from scratch every time they wanted to change a skill or a trait.
