Seriously, anet, is bad enough that we havent seen any proper content in two years, that pvp and www is so stale that its starting to stink, that we have to cope with the meaningless and awful living story…..

But since the last patch its impossible to play due to ,lag, lag spikes , and disconnections, its not a personal issue ,i can run any game flawless, its been comented in the tech forums ,and in game by tons of people, but theres no answer whatsoever,
so…..whats going on?

Well there are definitely issues with connectivity, even though I’m not personally having that many.

I (and one of my guildies) occasionally have lag spikes, but the game is far from unplayable. It can be annoying, but for those people with less than spectacular connections to begin with, it’s really not a big deal. We’ve learned how to ride them out and not die in the process.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Since the last patch, I and several guildmates have also experienced lag and disconnects. This wasn’t an issue a couple of weeks ago.

Ever think it is on YOUR SIDE? People need to check their ISP’s some time. It is amazing how many of them have malfunctioning equipment.

Try tracert – that will tell you plenty.

Dusty Moon, most of the time I agree with you, but me and guildies are crashing even though we live no where near each other at the same time in the same zone. But not all of us. But it’s happened more than once…too often for it to be a coincidence.

And it just started recently.

Yep. happening much more now, I never had DCs until the last patch/ fixes have improved it. TP selling was down and out on Sun for a while but was fixed but selling has become much slower.
Got to agree with Vayne, this has started recently.

I have recently was having issues with another program, not a game, as went through my ISP. There is some problem with the backbone in Texas. Also, ask your ISP if they throttle connections – some do some don’t (Comcast is testing throttling connections in the south currently).

Also, just an FYI, several games, WoW, ESO, and two others (can’t remember the names) were being attacked by a huge DDOS. That could also be the issue.

Just saying there are MANY ways this can occur. This game does rely on having an good connection or else things get a little wonky.

You might be right, but it’s not that easy for us to check. It’s also a bit odd that it started happening after the last update. It’s not impossible for instability to have crept into the system.

True, but in this case, and with the timelines involved, I feel that the recent problems are on Anet.

Maybe try doing much more content, to even see the lags spikes?

It seems lags are mostly affecting instanced content, we mainly experienced them in FotM.
I’m playing on EU server (Deso). When lag spike hits, it affects either whole party, or most of us (usually 4, but whole party more often).
We are from different countries, sometimes all friends, sometimes half pug.

The odd thing is that you CAN talk in chat (we were always on TS so we have it confirmed the other part have seen the msg, too), but you cant use skills and mobs/bossess just stop.

Then you get out of FotM where this happened several times, each time for 8-10 seconds, and ppl rant about it in LA map chat.
This happened several different days, different content, different players.

EDIT: by receiving and sending all chat messages instantly with no delay, ever, while this “lag” happends, this doesn’t really seem like a connection issue.
More like problem on some part of their server, either sw, or hw.
If chat is handled by a different machine, there might be problem with one of their machines.

When we all had lags in FotM except one guy in our party, us four in lag were all friends from Desolation. The fifth guy without lags was a random, most likely not from Deso.
So either some of their servers have problems and some not, or it simply occures in different times.

There are also DCs happening. You lag for a second or two, and then the game kicks you to login screen. Over last week or two, it never happened to a single party member only, always to at least 2 of us at once.
Yeah, PC problem…

Well – try pingplotter – this is what I recently got (TODAY as a matter of fact). This is to Guildwars2.com website…

2 routers show 100% packet loss in between. It may not be GW2 at all.

If this is a routing problem somewhere in between, how is it possible we can chat with each other?
I don’t think their chat servers are handled by a different ISP in different location so different route would be used.

If you mean posting to this server, it’s VERY possible for an ISP to block (or throttle / incorrectly route) one type of data and pass another TO THE SAME EXACT IP ADDRESS.

Exactly, BG. It could be a game problem, it could be something else. People need to actually do some research before just saying it is one thing.

Alright.
We had similar problem in Lineage 2, where a percentage of players was affected by lag. Different parts of europe, different ISPs.
NCSoft actually looked into the issue and had something done about this. Lags stopped.

IDC whos problem it is. It’s not my ISP and its not my PC, its europe-wide. Anet has to look into this.

Yesterday my friend and I were in Orr when there were suddenly two lags, one after another. We experienced them at the same time. He lives kilometres away, so it’s not personal issue.

About a week ago half of everyone on my map was kicked from the game. I asked around and everyone had experienced issues recently.
