black lion chest issue maybe
I know some people who don’t have h.o.t. who are getting glider skins from chests. Is this normal?
BL chests don’t discriminate. They drop junk for everyone most of the time. I’m pretty sure a core-only account can unlock glider skins in other ways, so I’m not surprised.
If it were my account, I’d probably create a support ticket and ask support if I can trade the glider skin for another key or something.

Do you think I can do that with the Wintersday Focus skin I got, on the basis that I have never used a focus on any character except to unlock the skills?
Re: gliders it does seem odd that they drop on accounts that are not allowed to buy them. I kind of understand it awarding skins you’ll never use because at least you have the option to use them and you’re just choosing not to. But when they’ve gone to the trouble of locking them in the gem store so you can’t buy them it seems strange to include it in the drop table.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I don’t know if the CS Team would let you trade a skin you don’t prefer. On the bright side, you never know what new Elite Specialization might be released, and you would want to use a focus. =)
As for glider skins on P4F accounts, that may have been an oversight. I agree that contacting the CS Team may offer a solution.
Good luck.

It can’t hurt to ask, but … we both know what even Tier 3 of the team is going to say

I agree: the idea of increased chance of unlocks is fantastic, but the implementation is awkward. The gameplay relies a lot on being able to exchange our version of junk for gold to buy someone else’s junk. Guaranteeing an unlock is great; forcing us to accept it is not.
I think, however, they anticipated that people would buy a kitten-ton [sic] of keys today and others would use hoarded keys, in addition to the “millions” of free keys used. Even though skin unlocks are rare for us personally, that would still be a few hundred thousand new drops this week… and it would destroy most of the value for many of these items (even today, people are cancelling buy orders right/left and prices are dropping).
In the long run, I think prices will go back to ‘normal’ and at that point, maybe we can ask ANet to change this from an unlock to an item.
