I udnerstand why you can’t give a good estimate time about an update. But promising to blow up LA on the 18th means on the 18th and not on the 19th. you had a great change to get old players back but you blew it.

It is still the 18th in Seattle where they are based. Heaven forbid they don’t push a live update out in time for those in Europe without trying to polish things first.

I’d rather they double check things before pushing a live update as opposed to just launching it to make you happy in Europe. It is the 18th Anet time.

yeah around the same time. 1 to 2 hours difference maybe. We are now 6 hours past that.

Interesting that you decided to ignore the part of my post where I pointed out that they did tell us those “6 hours (I can’t seem to recall very many patches coming that early to be honest)” that it would be delayed to afternoon server-time.
So we KNOW that it will be released later than usual, we KNOW that it is a bit delayed, and yet people here seems to think that we haven’t gotten any information whatsoever.

I learned probably ten years ago to never plan stuff around an MMO patch time. I remember playing Mabinogi many years ago and eagerly awaiting the release of the new continent and races. That was a huge debacle. I think that one took maybe three days? And the game was offline the entire time. Bahaha! Old fogy tale, sorry.
Ever since then I plan for a day or two after I’m rarely disappointed now. Never, ever plan for patch day.

GW has been the best mmo for patches in my experience. Just hold tight OP. The patch’ll hit and it won’t be nearly as great as you thought anyway.

If they released it for your timezone, others would complain.
If they released it perfectly on time, someone would complain because it didn’t accomodate their work schedule.

They have been patching on the same time for over a year. You may expect them to launch on that same time..

No they haven’t.

They have never been on the same time actually.
The same general area of time, yes, but the exact same time? Nope. I don’t even think two patches have ever been released at the exact same time.

And to be fair they did tell us back during the “usual” release-time that it would be delayed.

for almost 9 years they release the big patches on exactly 12:01 PM, it’s bin like that in GW1 and has always bin even in GW2.
even with a delay, they never pass the 2 hour delay.
ether they took a break or are losing the will to push this life, shows how much their quality has dropped.

No its not. I will play and enjoy this content tomorrow. I have 4 people who had given up on the game months ago. I tried to convince them for ages. they refused. The last trailer I showed them and they decided to give it a try. We where in LA and having a nice pre-party. they have left in deception and are gone. Simular wordings of dissapointment are used in LA right now (in the EU).

Well, that is because people are silly and refuse to accept the fact that the world does not revolves around them.

Anyone with any kind of logical thinking would have been fully aware that things might very well have gone wrong with something as big as this, and definitely wouldn’t start shouting about being lied to when there is about 9,5 hours left of the patch-day.

What a bag of nonsense. It has to do with the fact that it’s been around the same time for a year. People expect it on that time, they prepared for that they, they organized to meet before that time and now they have been waiting for + 6 hours and many had to log out by now.

It’s not because people are silly and refuse to accept the fact that the world does not revolves around them. It’s because Anet is silly.

That might have held some merit IF they didn’t blatantly TELL us back then that it WOULD be delayed until the AFTERNOON Seattle time.

People still sitting around waiting can only blame themselves. (Especially those that started complaining before the afternoon even began).

People ARE silly.
They can’t accept that not everything goes exactly according to plan at all times. And when they also refuse to even acknowledge that we was told that it would be delays it just looks even more silly.

You are so rigid and unforgiving in your time frame of a game that you cannot accept that they even said its going to be late to fix problems?

Also, Lion’s arch is emptying in Europe. Many people, that where lost, came back. People that lost trust in Arenanet. Hopeing this patch would give them a sign off recovery. a reason to come back. This has been extremely hyped up. Those people will be gone forever now.

I know it is an American Company. But given past experience I have been telling my friends they had to check this out. No way I’ll ever going to convince them to spent any minute in this game.

You do realise that YOU have ben helping to hype this up right? Perhaps even to yourself too much? TBH you should ALWAYS wait and see how things turn out and THEN hype them up to people….well that’s just my thoughts.

Yes. I love this game, and I have been using this as an argument to try it again.
But I have been trying that for ages. The thing that helped was the announcement, made by Arenanet. but they wont come back now.

So again, the question you skipped : they announced it would be late. But you would rather they just release bugged patches? Its so important to you they accommodate your rigid inflexibility around a game that they should release a broken patch rather than announce it will be late while they fix it?
Whats the rush to be on the second its done? You know the patch will there tomorrow? and the day after and the forseeable weeks to come?
Frankly, I think the majority of the population would prefer a working patch arriving late than a broken one arriving “on time” to accommodate the apparently unforgivable sin of releasing a patch a few hours late (with advance warning, mind you).

To all these people saying “You’d complain if they released it and it was buggy, I’d rather wait 6 hours and it be working” etc etc.

When have they ever released a patch that hasn’t been buggy? I don’t know about you but practically every time I open the game for a week or so after the patch I’m having to download the patches to fix the bug in the patch they just released.

Saying that though, yes I would prefer it be working and if they have to delay the patch to ensure that, then that’s fine. The problem is that the LS patches have generally been going live around 5-6pm GMT, and they waited until after we’d have normally received the patch to say “oh yea guys it’s going to be a bit late, sod knows when really, sometime in the afternoon I guess.” The afternoon is quite a sizeable time period, and people don’t particularly like waiting around for 6 hours for a patch that they won’t even get to play that night.

I do believe they dropped the ball with regards to getting some of that old player base back, they finally announced some content that got a large portion of those “LS sucks” people to take notice, and I believe the lack of communication with the fanbase which had them waiting around for upto 6 hours is easily enough to dishearten those players considering a return.

Anet announced there would be a delay. I have linked it several times in this thread. Enough with the hyperbole. Did you stop to think that maybe just before they launched the patch at the usual time they found a major flaw and instead of just launching it they delayed it until they fixed it? Oh heaven forbid they do that with all those in other time zones waiting. It would be better to just launch a busted patch right?

The patch went live on the 18th Anet office operating time as promised. Just because you play in a different time zone doesn’t make you a special little snow flake. There isn’t really much else to talk about.

It is not Anet’s fault. As long as the patch hits within NA time frame, they are not breaking anything they said. There is always a change in time, some will always be advance, on time, or ahead in terms of date. I just sent some flowers addressed to “Europe”.

Hope they cheer up my friends across the Pond.

ANet is an American company, they update on American times. It’s going to be late at night somewhere in the world regardless of when they deploy the patch. They didn’t blow anything, you’re just upset that ANet doesn’t cater to overseas when they work.

Blizzard is also an american company. BioWare too. Both companies deliver updates in an appropriate time for us from Europe.
Hell, ArenaNET even refuses to use UTC in their announcements

Seriously. Someone is always going to get the short end of the stick.
If Arenanet catered to both America and Europe then Oceania would get the stick.

The world is a big place, it’s also round, it spins, there are different time zones.

You are not at any disadvantage if you go to bed and play the next day.

I just love the title of this thread. Europe is disappointed. I assume you’re talking about all of Europe and speaking for everyone in Europe.

Entire game releases get delayed all the time. The patch never gave a time. They ran into a snag. Anyone who wouldn’t come back to the game over this wouldn’t have stayed anyway (and probably wouldn’t be doing the community any favors if they did).

I love this thread, I’ll say this; I was so excited to hear that the patch was delayed. I work in California, same time zone as A.Net. Score patch didn’t launch at my LUNCH time. I was at work, I got to be home for the first live patch I could join not 6 hours later after work.

People complain about it’s late, try being at work knowing everyone else (ok not everyone) is playing. My whole guild is west coast players we get the finger every patch cause we are working. We got to be part of this launch for once.

I hope I can join on a few others that patch later then 12:01pm PST.

And so what is blizzard or bio release EU at a time covenant for you, key difference this is NOT either of those companies. And my buddy plays WoW she’s always saying how patches are late.
