Cazzt, it’s 90% good mannered advice, where is this elitism?

And to Lich, if you’re still reading the thread, if you don’t like moving in combat, final fantasy 14 is having a pretty cool rerelease soon and that game might be more your cup of tea, you seem like you have the mind in the right place but not the reflexes. I know many people with dyspraxia and it’s super frustrating for them to play these fast games too. If you could record a typical mob fight and upload it we could help (if you have access to anything like twitch/livestream/fraps/youtube etc)

When it comes to being able to facetank though, warriors probably have the easiest job, start out with pure vit gear if you can, take monsters one at a time (my ele was very squishy when I started (3 hits at most) but after getting to know my abilities intimately its very hard to die – (d/d auramancer, sue me))

Also grouping isn’t the worst idea, just get some friends together and have fun If you ever end up on Aurora Glade I’d be happy to help, my endgame is helping new players :p

Check out this video. He does a good job of explaining mobility in GW2.

^this.

This video is great!

For my Norn Warrior if I get into trouble against several mobs, I find that if I switch to my rifle and start kiting, I suddenly find myself getting healthy until I can either kill the mob or dive back into melee.

However with melee I am always moving. The sidestep melee straffing described in the video is exactly what you should be doing. Or if ranged, the ranged straffing.

When you see red circles under you it is time to dodge. There are also other clues that a melee enemy is doing something you need to dodge. But if you are always moving around the target chances are you will never be facing the attack that needs to be dodged anyway.

All other MMO’s I’ve seen you just stand there when you attack. And that’s fine for those games. In this one you need to stay mobile or you will die quickly.

But thanks loathe, again you show me that it doesn’t matter what kind of game I play there is always some elitist swine out there to always bash someone to point they quit.

It’s how you want to read into it. Think of this a couple few million people have played this game already. Some didn’t get far, but you have to think most people have gotten well past where you have. There have been only a few that really have complained that the game is very hard, even for a solo in the open world. Sorry.

The best I can tell you is you can fight things under your level, and still get proper XP to level etc. The game downscales but not equally, so you will be noticeably stronger. For example always play 5-10 levels lower then you are. I would think over time you will get up to speed so when you are 80 you can run 80 level content.
