weekly reward
I would love to have weeklies, but only in addition to monthly and dailies.

I too would like to see weekly activities, it’s something I miss from GW1. It would encourage more casual players to keep logging on. Dailies can have a grindy feel and monthlies are too infrequent (plus take more of a commitment to complete) so weeklies should fill that balance gap.
Weeklies sound okay to me…with this caveat. Currently daily achievements are such that I just go out and play and somehow they get done. Yes, I try to select the zones that I work in to be consistent with the available dailies…but rarely do I take any special pains to do daily achievements (other than perhaps JPs). If you move to weeklies, the danger possibly would exist that it would be intensive enough to require you to “work” on the weeklies in a more concentrated way. Of course, I guess you could basically work day-to-day like I do right now and accomplish the same thing. I assume that the implementation would be the key…how they structured and presented it.
Otherwise, sounds good to me.
I would love for weeklies to replace dailies. Not everyone can play every day. We have lives.
Don’t do anything fancy. Just multiply the rewards x7 and tasks x7 (gather 140 items instead of 20 items, 7 dgns instead of 1 dgn, ect) and change the duration from 24 hrs to 168 hrs. It would drastically improve my enjoyment of the game, and most other life livers out there I’d imagine.
This would allow you to open up the dailys to have all possible ones available. This would truly allow us to play the game how we like.

I asked my girlfriend for a weekly reward. She got me a subscription to the Sunday paper. Then she took all the good coupons.

Weeklies would never replace dailies. It won’t happen. You might get a weekly in addition to dailies, but never as a replacement.
Dailies weren’t introduced for your benefit. They were introduced to keep people logging into the game every single day. A weekly would completely defeat the purpose they were introduced for.
They were introduced to keep people logging into the game every single day.
I’m fully aware why they introduced dailies. Dailies are bad game design because it punishes people for not logging in every day. It would be far superior design to change them to weeklies. It would accomplish the same goal, just better and more convenient for the players.
So you’re right, probably won’t happen.

So “not everyone can play every day” due to having lives.
But they can somehow do the same things * 7?
And claiming that people that spend about 30 minutes (doesn’t really take more than that) to get dailies have no lives is both silly and rather offensive.

It’s actually quite easy to see how ‘weeklies’ would be easier to complete. Lots of us aren’t able to play for days at a time, but when we do log on it’s a 3 or 4 hour gaming binge. Pretty easy to complete an entire week’s worth of dailies over a weekend.
Don’t take that comment the wrong way, poster is just saying some of us simply can’t play everyday. I also fully endorse the weekly achievement concept. We could even have the dailies ‘stack’ (max. 25, lol) until you complete ’em all.
I mentioned weeklys sooooo long ago, never came to pass
PvP modes are the “endgame” in every MMO.
Stop failing at PvE, start fixing PvP/WvW. Thank you.

Silly? Offensive? What?
It’s a pretty simple concept. This weekend I am going out of town because I have a life. I won’t have my PC, I won’t have any means of logging into gw2. By the time I get back Sunday afternoon I will have missed out on a minimum of 2 laurels possibly 3 depending on what time I get back.
However, if I had weeklies to do, I could play all night tonight, get my 7 laurels and not worry about missing out on 2 or possibly 3 out of the 7 I should be getting for the week.
Make sense? I don’t see how that’s offensive at all. If you’re not the kind of person who goes out of town on the weekends or out with friends on the weekdays then nothing would change for you. You’d get the same rewards, same laurels.
If you really, truly have a life outside of this game, then those two to three measly laurels aren’t worth the time you just spent writing about them.

Dailies don’t punish, they reward. Lack of reward is not punishment.
If you log in a couple of times a week and get your daily both times—-then that’s your weekly. It’s a choice you make, sorry the game doesn’t cater to your personal requirements.
There is no “punishment”.

Yeah, sure as hell eats up an entire day mining 140 ores.
Think before you speak.

- “Convenience”, really? Think of it like this: if the threat of torture makes the criminal confess the crimes he has committed, then torture is effective interrogation method. If dailies make you log in every day, then dailies are effective means to modify your behavior.
Rather than give players even more pats on the back for logging into the game, maybe make the overall activities available engaging on their own.
