about 3 hours ago, i got some weird mail sent by a person who claimed he/she is GM name Walter Suterii.

the content in it said my account will be shut down in 72 hours due to currency transaction or abnormal login, then show me a link to follow if i want to remove restrictions.

the POINT is, it is noted below its content said : “this message was sent by another player, not by the Guild Wars 2 Team”.

and no, i haven’t done any currency transaction with anyone, only use currency exchange for 150 gems which is around 5 hours ago and it is also my first time using currency exchange.

should i follow the link or ignore it?

Edit: Additionally do note the warning at the bottom of the mail in yellow stating that this email was not sent from anet. (which you did, that should tell you all you need to know really)

Ignore it.

For 1, it says at the bottom, sent by another player not by ArenaNet which has a special mail logo if they do.

2 they won’t send a mail/email to you stating they are shutting your account down, they just do it and then will reactive it if need be later after you contact support.

The ones that are clearly chinese ESL are funniest cause they try to sound official but can’t spell worth a kitten.

Report the mail and delete it.

Reason number 3 why you shouldn’t follow that link is because it’s obviously not a real place. The structure of the GW2 domain doesn’t allow for all that .garbage.junk after the .com.

Report the mail and delete it. Also, don’t reply to it because then you may be linked to whatever said scammer has done – I saw someone on reddit complain saying they responded to these people and in turn had their account basically disabled (whether true or not, who knows, but better to be safe and not reply to them). Not sure what happened and whether they got their account unlocked again but yes I would not reply to any scammer.

Report and delete. Also, as it says at the bottom of the message, it’s been sent from a player, not Arenanet. If you’re in any doubt, always check the bottom of the message for that warning sign, NEVER follow any links in messages – especially ones allegedly sent by Arenanet, and if you’re still in doubt, ask Arenanet directly by sending in a support ticket on the legitimate site – not the one/s in said mail message.

Actually the link ends in .pw which is the country code domain of a small island nation in the Pacific, I think Survivor was there at least once, Palau (population 20,000). Since the Internet these small nations have leased out their code to questionable registers.
