Well they are good at deleting threads and comments they do not like.

For example there was a post just a few min ago about to many censorship on the forum. The next comment said.. this will also be deleted. I then typed my comment being: (It fits in this conversation)

“True. The topic [I Would Like My Digital Deluxe Items Please] that I did not create.. just for the record. Was also removed. There was nothing wrong with that topic, there where no bad thinks in it.

However these sorts of topics might simply be removed with some bad excuse. You can then mail NCsoft who give a bad excuse for it’s removal. That might even change from the original one. I remember that one thread of me once was removed because it was ‘rude, condescending, and/or inflammatory’ what it wasn’t. So I mailed NCsoft and they could not really deny that it was non of those thinks so then it became then is was considered trolling. Also nonces, no trolling at all but it’s a vague word so easy to use.

The last thread that was removed I also mailed NCsoft. Didn’t even read the mail they send back as I know they would not put it back anyway but at least I showed my dislike about it.

So in my opinion they do remove to much, not to little.

The OP makes a valid point. However, you really must be careful in who you label a “troll” since on an given day even the most circumspect of posters may go off on a tangent or miscue on what he thought was simple humor, but was interpreted by others differently. Now bear in mind that “trolls” come in all forms. Now the typical troll usually does not last long on a forum, and at some point they are banned; although many of them have multiple accounts and re-appear under another name. That said, for the most part I believe the Anet Forum Moderators handle this well.

But there are also reverse-Trolls , and unlike traditional trolls, these are nearly impossible to weed out. These type of trolls are easily spotted because they spend most of their time lecturing others on nearly every topic imaginable. The reverse-trolls are basically “self-appointed” spokesmen for Anet, and they pollute nearly every single thread with inane and verbose nonsense. They also tend to speak with the voice of authority, as if they had “inside information” as to what the game Devs intended or think. Always at pains to give the impression they actually know why the game company’s developers made certain decisions or changes, truth be told, they haven’t a clue. Unfortunately, these types have become more common in MMO forums; usually polite, but always pretentious, these creeps are nothing more than control freaks looking to gain some unearned self-esteem on a gaming forum.

BTW, these trolls are also “self-appointed” forum moderators … so be very careful if you do choose to engage one of these gazillion-post weirdoes, because they adore the report option.

Yep.They move thread they don’t like from the general discussion forum cuz its popular.Generally all the other forums are oblivion forums where your thread are heard no more.

I really don’t believe Xephire is a bully. A smart-alec comes closer (not necessarily in the negative sense of the word either). Everything is a joke to some people and if you read what they write that way you see it’s not personal.

Seems to me the devs have a very clear handle on what feedback is valuable which is all that really matters for a games forum

Bad trolls fold so fast, it’s not even funny. I wish people would put more effort into things :P

Which, so far, in this thread have been pretty much defined as anyone who doesn’t give a 3 page glowing review of GW2 along with kid-glove “feedback”.

I agree that trolls on forums are bad, but this thread contains a whole lot of thinly veiled commentary that is nothing more than “anything negative is trolling and people should be banned for it”.

He actually is, the very fact that who he’s calling trolls aren’t being banned is due in part that they’re right. There’s many many problems and just because you don’t like us pointing them out doesn’t give you the right to ask that people with negative feedback on the poor direction this game is going to be banned. Simple, don’t like what people have to say don’t come to the forums or better yet ignore the controversial topics in the forum discussion list.

No, he is confusing Trolls with statement’s he doesn’t agree with.

Actually there’s plenty of abusive trolling in some corners of this forum that aren’t being properly addressed. Reporting is great, but what when most posts could be reported? Players ganging up against others, mocking them, etc. Negative feed back is fine, but insulting fellow forum members is not, whatever “side” of the argument you may be on.
