With a creative design anything is possible. Yet you claim it too hard with warhorn but for your own suggestion you need the right imagination?

Also. I’m pretty sure it’s upto ArenaNet to design what they want to design. Which… could be horrible or great but can be properly judged only until after it’s actually done.

Then you can throw the adult version of a kid’s tantrum and say you’re gonna not play until they make the elite specialisation you would want them to make.

It’s a simple realism. Ele players know who is the designer responsible for ele and they lost faith in him long time ago.

This nightmare about a weapon that shall not be named has not gone away yet, has no pulled up some positive datamining about us getting a decent elite weapon yet. Someone needs to let anet know the joke is not funny anymore.

Because, as we all know, sword would have been the god-emperor of all weapons, with such almighty power that it could do everything that every ele weapon can do all at once with no drawbacks while warhorn would be just 8 clones of charge with different particle effects.

Make it “a sword is more likely to offer something new/useful to the class than a warhorn” and you will be closer to the truth.

Actions, not words.

What truth? Everything regarding the spec is just speculation.

I think rather than summoning storms being the focus of tempest, that is was named because the ele more so became the tempest or it looked that way, add spinning attacks and teleports that leave a trail along with a storm aura that grows stronger as the ele fights. Each sword attunement gains a different effect for sword, which combined with the spinning and tele/leap attacks makes the ele itself look like a tempest.

Fire/Lightning/Earth(Sand)/Water/Arcane trails of the sword leaving aoe field behind as the ele swings the sword, whirlwind style attacks that build a storm around the ele as they fight. Switching attunements doesn’t stop the storm, it simply changes the element and the damage type. If the ele could be the heart of the tempest I’d be happy, calling a storm with a warhorn feels like a stupid mechanic. I’d rather see storms as a form of aura that the ele can use with utility spells that enhance it based on the level of the storm, maybe it has three phases and you build the storm by rotating attunments and fighting enemies. At level one of storm a utility might cause less duration and depend on the element. Fire destroys projectiles, sand reduces incoming damage, lighting lashes back with forks of lightning, water heals for each projectile absorbed, arcane reflects.

The idea is to make melee combat feed the storm, each attunment having a different whirlwind style spell that will help build it. Then the ele uses utilities and other sword skills to utilize the storm, which depend on the strength and attunment.

Well that is a rough sketch of my vision of a tempest sword ele.

That’s a gross generalisation to begin with. And second, since the self proclaimed general opinion of him is that low, then the choice of the weapon would not even be that important. You’d be set for disappointment either way.

Then again, I really doubt it’s just one person who’s alone developing all the skills without any involvement from others.

Maybe it’s hyperbolic but you could go ask around about Karl on ele forums. He doesn’t have good opinion, generally. And it’s not accidently. Patch after patch anet proves they have no clue how to balance ele (either OP or trash tier).

I’ve been thinking about Warhorn for Elementalists, and I’ve got an idea in my head that I actually like. The problem is, it’s not a “Tempest” at all.

If Eles get Warhorn, I’d like to see it used to summon elementals that work like Mesmer Phantasms do. (Stay on one target and fight until it or they are destroyed.) They wouldn’t need to look like the player or standard elementals, they could be different shapes like firebirds and water dogs. This, I think, is what the horn should be saved for.

Sarcasm, delivered with a
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

I know that data mined info is not 100% reliable, but I sure hope it’s sword. I know I sould have waited, I used most of my bl tickets to buy sword skins. Dumb on my part.

I feel kind of meh on the warhorn anyways.

Okay let me put it this way warhorn can be an interesting weapon, maybe even I good 1 but I think that ele should get a weapon that would go with warhorn, now I would want something better than warhorn, and sword is better me personally, I want duel swords but I don’t really believe that is going to happen

My experience is that anyone doing skill balancing is getting alot of flak though. :p Also not sure how that will affect skill design either.
In the end it’s all a ‘wait and see’ either way. I suppose setting yourself up for disappointment can only lead to positively being surprised.

Don’t diss the butterfly wings!

There should be something after the beta weekend. They took such a long break with specialisations, it’s kind of weird they haven’t continued yet.
Maybe they saw this thread, the people responsible for the warhorn spec got all disappointed and now they’re trying to make it cooler so we’ll like it anyway?

(If that’s the case, guys, we’re not picking on you, we just hoped for awesome battlemages, is all )

Pretty sure they have specified somewhere that each new elite specialisation will introduce only one new weapon to a class, so if ele do get warhorn they will not also be getting a mainhand

Yea they said 1 new weapon, but never said that I could be a weapon for both hands (meaning duel swords). But i’m starting to think warhorn is an unlikely weapon, not just because of this forum but we have no weapons to go with it.
