Your logic makes no sense. If something is desireable it must be rare to stay desireable. If too many people have something I feel repelled by it instead of desireing it.

Whereas I and others desire things for their own sake and are perfectly content if everyone else has one too.

You might be playing the wrong game genre then, especially since skins are the sole proverbial carrot in this game

Her. And yes, my point is that there are conflicting views in this thread. Some think a skin is only worth having if it’s super rare. Others feel that skins are worth having for their aesthetic merits and it’s how they are incorporated into an overall look that matters.

And the core item in this discussion is a staff that has a unique design as well as look, one that provides a visual functionality that only one or two other staffs in the whole game provide. So I, at least, and I think others are asking as well that there be other staffs that provide a slim profile melee appearance. Then this one can stay opalescently shiny and rare as rare can be, so the “must be special and unique to me” crowd can continue to rejoice in it whilst others go their merry way with functional beat-sticks.

(I’d actually prefer the Lightward form without all that shiny stuff, with normal wood and metal texturing, albeit polished not corroded. Pretty as it is, my poor farmer chronomancer and my dapper gentleman thief aren’t so likely to haul around a glow stick).

I don’t mind some skins being rare. I don’t mind some skins showing one has done the most difficult content in the game. I don’t mind some people being happy they have something almost no one else does, even if I’ve never understood the keeping-up-with-the-Joneses mindset. I do mind this particular skin shape being hidden behind steep RNG.

I agree with this: a variety of acquisition methods is good for the game, since we all have our preferences.

It’s not “hidden” behind RNG — it’s tradeable on the TP and therefore available to anyone willing to pay market rate, just the same as other rarely-dropping skins in this game and others. (INB4: yes, the original source is a random drop, but it remains accessible to anyone.)

I was not willing to pay market rate, so I put in a low bid and waited — as with most things in the game, the market jumps for a variety of reasons (including waxing|waning of popularity of this zone or that) and I got mine for relatively cheap.
