Chronomancer Confirmed
Ooh… a wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey shiny!
My dear teammates and Mesmer friends… Welcome to URF. (Ultra-Rapid Fire)
“This skill essentially gives the chronomancer a reset button and allows for tricks such as casting any skill twice, avoiding a killing blow, or simply tactically repositioning yourself.”
Together with Signets of Illusions and Mirror Images or dodge roll creates clones. It can be used infinitely."
- Dodge Roll (can be replaced with decoy) + Mirror Images > 3 clones
- Signet Of Illusions
- F5 Shatter
- Repeat and put spells in between you want to use infinitely
Well, no. See, you would have to use the Signet after using the shatter, but before it ends and goes on CD. Using the signet while active wouldn’t recharge the shatter because it will still be the secondary skill, and using it afterwards won’t refresh the signet.
You can however triple Moa/time warp/ new elite.

Pretty sure it works out to a double use case.
Split > use skill > shift > signet > split > use skill > shift >signet is on CD and so is split.
Aside:
I don’t use my mesmer often, but wouldn’t this potentially allow you to machine gun off a LOT of mantras with the right GM trait slotted? Assuming this doesn’t rely too heavily on DE.

The elite is 3.
Split → Elite (cd) → shift (no cd) → signent → Split → elite → shift (no CD) → Elite (no backup, takes full CD.
Still 3 uses.

the possibilites of that F5 alone makes me excited to try it out (imagine if it resets full manta charges)….also seems to be a playstyle that rewards/demands skillful play…..and should finally make mesmers useful in wvw zerg/large group play.
whether this has much to offer in pve remains to be seen….seems more support oriented and specific numbers will be needed to see if alacrity effect (group quickness) would counter the loss of a phantasm and other vital utilities…i hope it does.

Huh.. doesn’t that apply to every utility then? Except the signet, that is. Further strengthens a mantra machine gun too, assuming the skill goes back to a charged state when shift happens.

Yeah, it works with anything, I just used elites as examples because they are likely to be the most powerful abuses (3 time warps in PVE/wvw? Lol….) but yeah, I’m sure there are other ways this can be incredibly potent.
And, depending on duration of shift, you might be able to double or even triple up on full resets.

If that’s the case, then Mesmers will be extremely powerful in group combat. But I’m sure the QA team will find all bugs and exploits before HoT is released. I hope this thread helps to point out which mechanics are overpowered, and tone them down for launch.
After reading about how awesome this Elite Specialization sounds (and breathing into a bag for a bit to calm myself down), I got to thinking. What would happen in this scenario?
>Portal Entre
>Continuum Split
>Portal Exuent
>Continuum Shift
>???
Does the Split-placed exit disappear? Can you recast the exit? Does the entrance’s expiration timer include the time spent in the Split? Thinking with portals hurts my brain…
Hyperbole is the absolute worst thing in the universe.

All that needs to happen (at least a start) is not have it reset with Signet of illusion. I feel like allowing it to is a dangerous step for balance. Have Signet of Illusion state “Reset all base shatters.”, then it won’t be a big deal I wouldn’t imagine.

YES, strike 1 for my prediction list
Was so kinda obvious, that Chronomancer would become their very first Elite Specialization just from looking at the Mesmer Skills that have kind of a Chronomancer Theme already with Temporal Curtain, Slipstream and Time Warp
Now next the Bard for them, the Duelist, the Mentalist and finally a Visionary and the Mesmer would feel being so complete in regard of Elite Speciliazations in the future
Basing from skills like Sirens Call, it could be also obvious, that their next Elite Spec could be the bard, it owuld be the most fitting choice for a Mesmer’s Elite Spec based on Inspiration bringing back gameplay elements of Echos and Hymns and improving Calls to Songs that change their effects based on the used Rhythm and Melody with a speciality to use instruments as weapons lol
How funny would it be to see a Bard in GW2 using a harp as a bow or a guitar as an axe xD basically as “skin”
The chronomancer looks pretty interesting !
I may end up spending more time with my mesmer alt.

Keep in mind you have to have a way to produce illusions, too. I don’t play Mesmer, so i do not know if there is a way to get out 2-3 Illusions on a very low CD (with eg. weapon skills). You won’t be able to shatter w/o illusions , and need enough of them so the time you have on the alternate time-track is enough to cast your skills, right? Because any skill used to create illusions in the first place will be on a longer CD rather than a reset one (create illusion(cd), shatter, cast stuff, return, at which point the illusion skill will return to the CD it had before shattering, so basically full CD once more.
this looks cool, for all the balance issues people see and combo possibilities you really have to wait until we see what the new traits system looks like for mesmer
#yawn
seriously it looks as boring as normal mesmer
I am almost certain this professions finally reaches necro tier of being useless as other professions will get much more important specs
You must not know how to use Necro then. I’m seeing a lot of hate on Necro, but they’re not completely useless. They have a decent amount of damage output, they can tank, and they have group support. I don’t see a huge problem here.
Regarding the Chronomancer, it looks really interesting. Wishing I hadn’t deleted my 52 Mesmer a week ago, cause for some reason I wasn’t becoming interested in the class. Looking forward to the Chronomancer and other Elite Specializations as well.
I’ve been waiting for to somehow find its way in Guild Wars since Utopia was canceled. I can’t wait to see it.
