I absolutely love this asura glider and backpack (although I do agree with the artist that the halo is a little much)

Perhaps a glider design contest like the weapon design contest from GW1? You’re still using some of those designs.

The only suggestion I have is when you have dyeable gliders, all channels should be dyeable. Don’t force colors on any part of the glider.

This, please. I like the phoenix glider, but the persistent blue is a bit of a turn-off.

And I’ll admit that the crystal glider from the revenant pack, for all of its nifty stained-glass glory, has colors come off really differently.

I really really want to see Scarlet Macaw wings.

Actual airplane wings might be an apropos idea (including the little blinking green/red lights)

Each race has several sets of cultural weapons. Peacemaker. Warden. Lionguard. EbonVanguard. Adamant. Seraph. Verdant. How about gliders that take inspiration from the cultural weapons, such as a Peacemaker Glider or an EbonVanguard Glider inspired by the black metal hawk theme. Or maybe weapons from the Orders, such as a green glass and metal Glider based on the Priory weapons.

Examples: EbonVanguard. Peacemaker. Priory.

I’ve made the suggestion before but it always bears repeating. There should be Tier1-Tier 2-Tier 3 Cultural Gliders from an NPC in each racial capital city like the armor sets for each race that are buyable with in-game gold.

How about gliders that aren’t on the gemstore and ones that you can actually earn ingame?

There are a lot of great skin ideas, so I’ll stick to functionality.

New Glider Mechanics

Glider Skills

• Bomb – Toss a bomb that deals damage and provides an additional effect based on your class
• Accelerant – Gain a burst of speed for a brief period (tied to Lean mastey)
• Propellant – Propel your glider upwards (tied to Updraft mastery)
• The two remaining skills would be filled contextually, such as Exalted bombs in the Tarir meta

Glider Movement
A keybind would be held to enable the following

• Barrel Rolls
• Diving and Pulling up

How about some gliders/backpacks that are in the style of the current Legendary weapons?

I for one would give my left arm for a glider/backpack combo in the style of Nevermore!

Since you’re reading these suggest might I add increasing wvw rewards someway.

Legendary themed gliders by having them unlocked when binding the legendary. If you have Bolt for example you’ll have goldish metal thunder wings or the Dreamer and have pegasus wings and a rainbow trail ^_^

Water Wings with liquid drops that fall on people when gliding over them

if liquid effects could drip all the way down to the ground leaving a temporary trail like auras do it would be cool

Like the Aviator Box that came out of last year’s April Fools day. This April Fools day how about we turn in B-52s when we are gliding? Then make that available for purchase or as a reward?

I would like a glider that transform the player at the same time each time it is used.

example : you produce a burst of flame as you deploy the glider and transform into a winged fire elemental. When you stop using it, you turn back to normal form with the same burst of flame as the beginning with lingering 1-2 sec of smoke aura around your character.

Or “fake” mount glider. Summoning something like a Pegasus, a spirit steed that leave behind ghostly hooves trail or any flying creature that either carry you or you can ride.

I was thinking more of a glider that’s on fire with a trail of smoke behind it. Mayday..mayday!

Here is a suggestion, how about a glider skin that we can earn in game and not on the gem store.

We had one we could get in game for free, as long as you bought the mini angry wintersday gift in the gem shop. 400 gems for a mini and get a free glider was a great deal.

Here’s one that is highly improbable . So , don’t panic .

A whale appears over one shoulder .
Over the other shoulder a bowl of petunias .

On glider deployment the bow of petunias says “not again”
On safe landing the whale explodes .

Going to add my support for the magic carpet and broom as special glider skins as well.

I want to toss my vote in for an Invisible Glider. My glider glitches often and looks like I don’t have one. Maybe that glitch can be reworked to give us an actual Invisible Glider.

I agree, it’s great when it happens due to slower loading times.

Well… at risk of raining on the parade, could we get the hawk wing glider fixed before adding too many more (especially if they are broken in the same way)? The backpack/glider combo thing was a neat idea, but the wobbling thing is giving me a bad case of buyer’s remorse.

Default glider is spotted and can be dyed, but always leaves SOME white.

New Ascended receipe for Leatherworker, Armorer and Tailor so they could do gliders too. That model can be basic as Batwings were, but they would be kind of sparkling ones. Like this:

Armorer: Sparkling Yellow like Dragonite Ore.

• Main materials could be Deldrimor Steel ignots, Spiritwood Planks, Spool of Thick Elonian Cord, Bolt of Damask and Dragonite Ingot, Vision Crystal and Augur Stone.

Leatherworker: Sparkling Red like Bloodstone dust.

• Main materials could be Elonian Leather Squares, Spiritwood Planks, Spool of Thick Elonian Cord, Bolt of Damask and Bloodstone Bricks, Vision Crystal and Augur Stone.

Tailor: Sparkling Purple like Empyreal Fragments.

• Main materials could be Bolt of Damask, Spiritwood Planks, Spool of Thick Elonian Cord, Empyreal Stars, Vision Crystals and Augur Stone.

All these gliders, you need to use for frame:

• 2 Spiritwood Planks
• 2 Spool of Thick Elonian Cord

Wings material for Armorer:

• 3 Deldrimor Steel ignots
• 3 Bolt of Damask
• 250 Dragonite Ingot
• 1 Vision Crystal
• 1 Augur Stone.

Wings material for Leatherworker:

• 3 Elonian Leather Squares
• 3 Bolt of Damask
• 250 Bloodstone Bricks
• 1 Vision Crystal
• 1 Augur Stone

Wings material for Tailor:

• 5 Bolt of Damask
• 250 Empyreal Stars
• 1 Vision Crystals
• 1 Augur Stone.

Last note: These gliders are universal, so no matter which crafting profession is doing it, all armor types can use them.

I love the Hawk Wings and the Love ones – would be nice with glider/backpack versions of the same that either adapt after u’r characters skin color or that are dyae-able/other colors.

Dyeable Jetpack or miniature pact airship. Orrrrr just something techy.

Every glider skin clips with my character’s head. It’d be nice to have the glider moved back slightly.

Well, it’s not a real suggestion but I hope legendary backpack will have the glider version.

I haven’t looked through the thread. So apologies if a similar suggestion is already here.

Suggestion: a mechanical/Asuran looking thing. Shaped roughly like a stealth fighter’s wings. Swept back some but not totally in a delta shape. Translucent/colored glass in the middle, but metal on the edges.

Suggestion: wings modeled off dragonfly wings.

Suggestion: Butterfly wings.

Suggestion: Leaves. Bright green ones for the summer and another set of colored leaves in the fall. Both with a trail of falling leaves in their wake.

Suggestion: Wings made of rickety boards. Reminiscent of a krait platform. Or boards just for the frame and torn, irregular fabric that flaps in the wind for the main part of the wing.

Suggestion: Charr-style wings made of grey metal sections with rivets and maybe a greyish black contrail.

From a pair of Wings I’ve seen in another game, I’d love to see wings similar to Black Feathered Wings but instead of feathers in the main wings, stars. I guess the closest in GW2 terms would be Black Feathered Wings with the Astralaria effect applied to them. Black Star Wings

I have a magic carpet. I also have a witch’s broomstick. They already “fly”. Why can’t I use them to glide?

More than anything, though, I want them all to have more dye channels. I spend a lot of time picking the exact dye (I have all the base and about 1/4 of the gem store dyes unlocked) to use on armor, and then get a very hard match w/ most of the glider skins.

Put gliding in the Desert WvW Bolderlands. Let non-HoT players rent basic gliders for badges of honor (because as I understand it, gliding was removed there because it would create a kind of p2w gameplay split). As someone with HoT I dont care if F2P people can glide if it means I can too.

It would also be neat to see portable launchers there, so you can deploy gliders in sticky situations to escape zergs or setup ambushes, and also wvw items you could use to bomb zergs from above.

Manta Ray themed glider.

Jeweled wings…perhaps dragontype wings with jewels and jewelry ornate decoration.

A rocket pack on my back. Like…old school tnt style look like I’m gonna blow myself up. My engi needs this.

seraphim backglider……double winged glider. with hawk wing construction…but shaped and modeled to be a double wingset.

Lionfish fins glider. Those frilly fins man…with stripes and bright colors.

Other that something jetpack like as I suggested before, it would be amazing to have a Aetherblade or pact glider skin with the baloon like the ships little wings and propellers, and something like the flying machine from Leonardo Da Vinci.
Also, when I think about gliders, pops in my mind the idea of the flying machines from the Miyazaki movies .

A glider that is forged in the Mystic Forge like the Mystic Weapons. Including the lightning effect that the weapons have.

We have the ability to uncheck double tap to evade and I would love to be able to disable the glider. It can be annoying when you are trying to get to a Vista or doing a JP and your glider keeps deploying and messing up your jumps.

I would love more gliders that are available without going to the Gem Store.

Yes we can our own backpieces from our own professions but we can’t create gliders. Anet please add glider crafting to our crafting professions. But please don’t make it expensive as fractal backpiece or expensive as crafting ascended backpieces.

Well, they normally sell gliders skins for gems (extra cash), so adding new skins that can be crafted, and also being cheap… Probably not going to happen.

I love the idea of a da vinci glider. Broomstick and Magic Carpet gliders please!
