I’d vote for a Batman cloak. If you are not gliding, it’s a regular black cape (yeah I know, it won’t happen) and once you are in the air, it changes to bat wings.

Love these ideas. Thank you for posting them! I hope ANet takes a serious look at these and gives us some.
I have the Holo-Shattered Wings and would love to be able to use them as a glider skin!

Bottom line is that there needs to be a wide selection of glider skins in HoT that are part of what we are paying the box price for the x-pac. Same goes for armor and weapons. I will be thoroughly disappointed if there are only a few of middling quality and we get a few added week 1 or 2 to the cash shop that are awesome looking. I never saw armor and weapon and glider skins as part of the box price for HoT so I am skeptical that we will get a chance to earn any of these.

It will be really amusing to see what this x-pac theoretically costs after buying new skins that come out in the gem shop after the game is released.

That Whalekitteneminds me of the Zephyrite ships. That’d be cool, and still supossedly on theme for the area as well I like it!

I absolutely support this idea. I know we will probably never get mounts, not to mention customizable mounts, but if ANet makes gliders customizable like this, I will definitely be happy. I also think it’s very likely considering the pre-order glider skin is a thing.

Also, what about crafting jobs?

We are getting ugly purple and yellow butterfly wings soon so other than a sea of purple and yellow characters trying to get something that matches I suppose those should be added to your back pack list…

Wouldn’t mind the butterfly wings if they could be dyed but they literally took a sylvari painted it’s skin yellow and purple, dyed it’s armor yellow and purple, just to get the yellow and purple wings to match…

I tried switching attunements last BWE and it is not possible while gliding. So the elementalist glider idea won’t work

I hope they disable weapon glow during flight, then… the amount of particles will ruin the gliding experience.

it could still work. it wouldn’t be able to change mid-flight, but the glider would vary depending on your attunement when you opened it.

I love the idea of backpack glider skins that are unlocked on aquiring a special backpack. I would really like to see my mesmer fly with her wings, or my engineer with his jetpack or spinal blades!

Phoenix glider: When employed, the character burst in flames and the flames form a birdshaped form around the character.
When deployed in midair, the character falls with the flames still around him, but randomly.
when landed for a few seconds smoke comes off.

Well if we talk Backpack gliders (Which I really hope they do):

Spinal Blades and molten Jetpack
It is an Jetpack with Wings. Nothing much to change here.
The same goes for all other incarnation that lead up to it`s final form.

Fractal Capacitor
At least from the Beta Stage, where it has some waving bits around, it is soemthing that already floats.
My idea would be in gliding mode, that it would split in two (duplicate and rotate the model) and we could have two mystical gliding thingies that actually look a bit like wings.
Adding to that that they allready look like drone engines at this point, I think it would be cool to have them be on your back.

Nothing to add here, they are wings.

Any Book Backpack
Kinda tricky, but since they are magical books, how about them opening up and building paperwings to glide. Extending out and folding back in.
The one with effects come with effects.

Any God Backpack
Mystical wings all the way. Starting with balthazars firewings to Dwayna blue/lightish ones

Any Bag/Satchel Backpack
Anything that doesn`t look like it weights a ton (like being a shelf), could just open up and extend a parachute style piece of cloth, which can be used as a glider.
In extension, the guld backpack actually features the guild emblem.
Holographic backpacks, extend holographic cloth.

Guild Banner
Similiar to the fractal capacitator. Have the banner split and be used as gliding wings.

Quagan/Charr Backpacks
Kinda hard, without them going inside out… they got a zipper, so yeah. they work like normal backpacks i guess.

Mawdrew and the Sclerite
How about some Mawdrew wings? sprout some leaves and let us glide my dear pet plant.
Same for the Sclerite Shell. Maybe some goo there

This reminds me, if you use the existing black/white wings – they collide with the gliders in slightly awkward ways. Maybe they should… turn into a glider skin when airborne instead?

Re. the Butterfly Wings backpack being converted to a glider.

I realise that they consider them to be too small to be a convincing glider, but what if they grew for gliding and then shrunk again, on landing?

I want rangers to have the option to use their pet eagle, hawk, rave, owl etc as a glider. The ranger leaps off a cliff and the eagle grabs them and helps them to glide.
