Exorcists for Revenant.

Hunter for Ranger.

Beyond that can’t think of much that would have Rifle fit into other Elite Specialization’s themes.

You could make rifle specs for anything. Mesmer GS is half rifle already, and they already have pistol. I’d prefer pistol for Ele but a rifle could fit if they wanted to. Necro could be like a curse gun, likely more mid-range than super long. Even Guardian could have a cannon spec. All depends where they want to go with it.

Unless ArenaNet backflips again, it’s not going to be another three years before the next specialisation batch. For the first year and a half at least of GW1’s life, they were pretty much insistent that they could make Living Story and gemstore work so well that they wouldn’t need the expansion model to deliver content and raise revenue. Even after they decided to go with HoT, they’ve had to rebuild some elements of the game to suit the new model they’ve taken (specialisations, for instance).

I would wager we don’t even need to wait for the next expansion before we get another set of elite specs. I think they will come free with HoT towards the middle of that expansion’s lifecycle. Now that they have the mechanisms in place, they can pump them out a bit faster. I think the next full expansion will include actual new weapons, like land spears, whips, etc.

Thief is using the Staff as a Polearm. It’s basically completely different usage than any other class that uses a Staff.

Think of The Monkey King, or Guan Yu.

So you can almost (almost) make the point that the Thief has a completely different weapon.

Having said that, I’ma bit meh on the new weapons.

I main an Ele and was hyped for Sword or Greatsword (Battlemage) and when Warhorn was confirmed that hype evaporated. I can only think of one weapon worse than Warhorn on an Ele and that would be Torch.

Same thing with LB on Guardian, Torch on Warrior (Though that Spec looks awesome, so good job there).

I knew I couldn’t be the only one who thought Monkey King. If any staff skins have a blade on the end, then Guan Yu would fit better. And I would not have any issue playing the same style as the God of War, Guan Yu.

IMO the rifle right now is done the wrong way, only two profs can use them and even they only use them as a blunderbuss. (a mid aged shotgun)
for one they should rename it to blunderbuss, then they can always add the rifle again but this time the right way.

Well, there are limits to how much they can do with a rifle. I mean, realistically, rifles should be like 5000 range weapons, Longbows too, but that would be OP. Rifles in GW2 are just slightly longer range and less flexible pistols.

well sure, but they could at least make the skills reflect the weapons, both profs who can use them don’t use them as any more then a blunderbuss.

All ranges are shortened for gameplay purposes.

I can see where you’re coming from with the engineer, but I’m not sure how warrior rifle use is like a blunderbuss. Skill 1 is simply shooting a bullet, 2 and 4 are shooting them in specific locations to have debilitating effects. Skill 3 isn’t something that would have been doable with single-barrel historical weapons until repeating rifles came around, but if anything is pushing it towards a semi-automatic rifle more than a shotgun. Kill Shot is effectively a sniper shot. And the only skill that isn’t usable at or beyond 1200 is the one that involves hitting them with the rifle butt – which certainly was a way that rifles were used when it came to it.

I’m not sure how you could get something more ‘rifle’ than how the warrior uses it. Unless they went ultra-historical and have every shot require 10+ seconds to reload, (but that doesn’t seem like fun to me) or turn it into a modern assault rifle (probably taking the steampunk a little TOO far).

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

The Warrior rifle is a bit like an assault rifle, with single target precision and rapid fire shots. Reduced range, of course, but aside from that I can’t see how you’d get more “rifle” than what a Warrior does with it. The engi doesn’t use any weapon “right,” he uses them as a gadget delivery mechanism, so yeah, it is a bit more of a blunderbuss, and also James Bond gimmick. I would expect a Thief Sniper to play a bit like a Mass Effect 3 Infiltraitor, high snipe potential, kinda kitten if you can corner them.
