Instant level 80
The instant level 80 makes no difference in your ability to fill your elite class spec.
You need to go to the new Heart of Thorns zones. Every Hero Challenge in those zones is worth 10 points rather than 1, and there’s about 40 of them to find. As a result, you can easily get the 250 points you need there.
With the exception of Southsun Cove, there are hero points in every non-city map in the game, both the old maps and the new ones. Go get all of those. You’d have to do at least some of them no matter how you chose to level a character, anyway.
My Ranger has been in every area of Heart of Thorns, and as I said, most challenges I found, but not all. That leaves me too far from my Elite. I finally got bored hunting and hunting, and just quit. And, I also ran around every map looking for challenges I might have missed.
You can turn on the Content Guide to direct you to Hero Challenges you haven’t yet done. Some will require certain Masteries to be earned, so you might not be able to get them all right away. But with that said, there’s over 200 Hero Points available in the core Tyria regions, so if you have all of those you only need to get five in Heart of Thorns to finish an elite. And even going in without any Tyria Hero Points earned, you can still finish your elite entirely in Heart of Thorns.
There are guides to hero point challenges on Dulfy.net. Follow a guide and profit. You can also join a hero point run which happens quite frequently or even join a guild. I don’t know why people insist on soloing this content.
You can actually just go to youtube and type in say “auric basin hero point guide” and be guided to each and every point step by step.
Is OP trolling or do we really need to tell people they can google or youtube just about anything they can think of these days?
Seriously OP I can get all the HPs I need in 1-2 evenings, and now that I have the masteries I can get a new char to full elite spec in one evening.

Wow I guess you really did not look. Just because you are a level 80 does not mean the areas are all open for you. They still have all the hero points in the core game and another 400 points of them in HoT. Just look for them when you go out exploring areas they are all over the place. Also the 400 in HoT = 40 each one gives 10. Not to much after HoT came out they brought the amount needed from that 400 to 250 points to use the elite specializations. So actually anyone who used that boost has way more available points than someone who hasn’t.
