Map Bonus Rewards needs some kind of notifier

So, i finally decided to try this out and actually do events for the sole purpose of getting the map rewards rather then just mapping or doing chieves. I found it quite difficult to figure out how many points i get from an event or even what my points currently are.

Wiki says you get 1,700 points per character before diminishing returns comes in? so if you can only do 17 events- i’d like to see that somewhere so you know when to switch toons. and 8,000 points total per reward track then it resets, but i don’t see this information anywhere ingame.

I know you can look at the world map and hover over the name say “Sparkfly Fen” and see what the “next reward” is which also shows you the “other rewards” for that week. But you get nothing from doing 1 event it seems. This need better notifications or some kind of reward track display like wvw/pvp that changes based on the map you in, or something. This just seem confusing.

>>>>"StonyParrot (on a reddit post mentioned) the way you get bonuses from doing events is quite simple, you get the reward that is listed under “Next Reward” for every other event. On completing the second event, you will get the reward as a drop and it shows on the right side of your screen, even though there is no real notification.

The same applies to Jumping Puzzles. You get the reward upon opening the chest. And it doesn’t matter, what kind of activity you do. You can do 2 events and get a reward, 1 JP and 1 event or two JPs etc.

Note that this activity counter is unique for every map. So if you complete an event in zone A and you move to zone B you still have to complete two activities there to get the reward from map B. If you then go back to map A, you will need to complete 1 event.

Edit: To further clarify, “Other Rewards” shows you the items you can get on the map in this week. Whenever you complete the two activities and get your reward, a next reward is determined out of all the possible rewards from a map (if you add “Other Rewards” to the “Next Reward” you get all possible rewards for a map in a certain week). Lower tier materials seem to have a higher chance than rarer ones, but that needs some more testing to confirm.

Edit 2: And another thing to add is that Hearts don’t seem to count towards the map rewards and that it does not matter, in what tier you finished an event. You get the reward after two events, even if you only got bronze at both."

*This was much better then the wiki, but still a year later (from this post)and there is not much of a notifier ingame to tell you anything about how many points you have.

>>>wait a second, if you have to do 2 events to get 1 map reward then how does the “Guild Map Bonus Boost(gain map bonuses 10% faster)” help you?
hmmmm. confusing still. I still have to do 2 events???

OR is there something ingame i’m just not seeing it?

“i’d like to see that somewhere so you know when to switch toons.”

I keep an eye on my karma reward numbers for doing events. When it drops down to 100 karma for a level 80 map, I switch chars.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

I’m not sure the Guild bonus is very effective for that particular Map Bonus Reward. I think it’s more for the bonus map currencies that drop from the newer maps.

I’m not sure a notifier is really necessary. Every other event rewards a Map Bonus Reward item. If you stop getting them in a map, you’ve hit the max for the week. It’s easy to pick out the Map Bonus Rewards, usually. I would just pick another map.

Fun fact: It’s super easy to get event rewards by using a Stabilizer. Speeds things up a lot.

Good luck.
