How the hell does someone get Mastery level 35 (!!!) by 8am Central European Standard Time (we changed clocks last night)?!?!?!

I saw it with my own eyes. Should have taken a screenshot.

Is this botting or legitimate/clever use of game mechanics?

Do I need to report this person? I got part of their account name (name but not number).

For what it’s worth, I am mastery level 10 as I write this, and I have no life at weekends except for this game.

I seen someone at level 66 in Lion’s Arch. Not sure if there’s an exploit to advance quicker without XP or earning mastery points, but 66 is like… I don’t even see how that’s possible.

I think because they use exp boosters and food, exilers, guild buffs and farm non stop. Also they probably didn’t spend anytime whining in forums.

I’ve seen level 21 and 31. Both in Orr. You can do event chains there with lots of mobs to kill. Load up on boosts, spend hours and you’ll get a lot.

I started asking around, and it seems dungeons give massive XP. I suspect this is not working as intended.

There are people farming mobs with all xp boosters on, obviously they’ll be further than you when you spend time crying on forums. I don’t understand how getting xp for killing mobs is not intended, though.

CoF P1 is one place. Another is Arah. There is a constant wave of mobs at the starting area. Add boosters and you progress quite fast.
There is nothing wrong with gaining experience. And to each his own to burn through their mastery levels this way. Great if you want to do it.
I can’t be bothered. I’m happy exploring and playing the game at my own leasure and made LvL 5 mastery since launch.

Its going to get nerfed. One of the developers have specifically stated that they’re trying to divert people away from dungeons.

Rule #2 of MMO’s: Exploit early, exploit often.

This is how it works. People farm the kitten out of spots that will give them unnatural amounts of XP as long as they can.

ANet will fix it a bit later, so leveling masteries will be a real pain in the back fo all non-exploiters.
