Megaserver kicking you from a zone
I agree that participation progress should be carried over if switching maps, or at least not lose entirely.

+1 Supported. It’s really frustrating to have this happen to you, particularly if you’ve been the one helping to organize and run events, only to disconnect and now find yourself unable to get back into that particular map.
This is one of the reasons why I’ve stayed in Verdant Brink and haven’t even explored the rest yet..
You see I got this ‘ragequitting’ issue and I’m afraid my pc won’t survive if I get kicked out of a map (may it be because it’s getting empty or just because of.. reasons…) in which I’ve build up my progression for which I had to play 2 hours to get it.
So +1 for me!

And more frustrating is when you start working on a pre-meta with not many players ……and you get the invitation to move in a more populated map …….oh my …..that’s great …..problem is ……IT NEVER WORK kitten !!!!!! ……and I always get moved to a totally empty map !!!!
All this I find really annoying too, so +1 from me. One thing I really hate is especially in Dragon Stand, when you got a dc right after the boss fight, you just can’t go back to this instance. The map doesn’t let you join in, even if you are in a group or raid, which is always recommended. This happens at least twice to me, that’s why I rarely play on this map now, all the gametime for nothing. I really do understand, that if you did not beat the boss you shouldn’t get any loot or entrance to the hero points/poi/vistas via the group, but if you have defeated him you should be able to join at least a winner’s instance for the rest of the time, maybe with a slayer’s buff or so.
I’m not into coding or whatever it takes to allow a player to carry over their map progress, but it doesn’t seem like it would be that difficult to allow players to keep their map progress when kicked, DC’d, Moved and ESPECIALLY when they accept the Megaserver’s request to move them.
If there’s any chance that Anet reads these posts I would love to hear the reasoning behind this mechanic and how it justifies discouraging so many from actively engaging in map events for any duration of time.
There doesn’t seem to be anyone willing to discuss anything of consequence right now, it’s infuriating. I’ve tried to get a response on numerous issues all to no avail. I’m not sure if everyone is away or if their plan is to just ignore everyone and everything until it blows over?
This is how many MMO devs seem to work these days, and they continue getting away with it so they carry on doing it.
Absolutely and totally agree. I would strongly suggest however you make this post on Reddit. I don’t think anyone at Anet reads the HoT forums anymore. They do appear to read Reddit since rarely anyone complains there (Devs don’t respond to complaints or want to read them, just human nature right?). But this is a good quality of life suggestion and I think it would be good for them to see it.

I barely read Reddit and wouldn’t even begin to know where to post it although I agree with you about it being the platform that is most likely to be viewed by someone who could make a change. I might invest some time into learning but if, like you stated, they don’t read them there it’s just adding redundancy to futility.

EDIT: lol 350+ upvotes in a day, it might actually be gaining some ground!

I tried looking through Reddit but it’s a massive eyesore… such a messy forum! xP
Seems like a lot of interesting conversations with devs happen there, though… sigh
