Might as well try my luck now. So I joined a party and got kicked. I’m a paying customer and my happiness is more important than anyone else’s. Please give me legendary for my trouble or I’ll think about giving you 10$ for gems next time. I don’t care that people gave thousands of dollars to make one. It’s just pixels for me.

It was your choice to farm it. All that was your own choice… Anet didnt obligate people to farm it.

And if that was a bug…
Then maybe… if there will be some more closed beta tests… then maybe u should get invitation if even it still needed for thous who already had portal.

And ANET dont have any obligation to reward individual person for this incident.

I just got email from anet support.

“Because the beta event has ended, we’d like to offer 1,000 gems as a token of apology for this error. The nature of this error means we need to manually verify your possession of the Portal, so we need a bit of information before we can deliver the gems.”
Info they need is character name that has portal or approximate date of portal deletion.

Now the interesting part. I never received portal or contacted support.
Anyone else got this or it is some sort of a scam?

Doesn’t sound like a scam if they are only asking for character name. Did you perhaps post in the thread saying how you didn’t get into beta? They might have mistaken it that you got a portal, but no access.

I think i posted in one of the billion “got portal no beta” threads. Oh well.. no free gems for me.

I’m glad they’re verifying! They already had my info from earlier in my ticket so they added the gems and I found out later when I checked email.

Apparently the error had to do with the game recording the portal drop, and it didn’t affect too many people relative to the general mass of Portal finders. Just a few dozen.

Did anyone ask the OP if he signed up for the newsletter?

My goodness, I never thought a simple forum post could generate such a lengthy set of replies. Thank you everyone for your input.
It appears Arenanet has taken into account almost everyone’s point of view. A most acceptable and seemingly well thought out offer has been made and accepted.
I look forward to continuing my relationship with Arenanet well into the future.
And yes, I had signed up for the newsletter many times, both in the past, and before the Beta.
