I don’t really know if the game needs a new race. If there were actually differences in gameplay between the races (with the exception of height and weak racial skills), I would see the point, but there are enough cosmetic options available without having to shoehorn a new race into the game (that being said, if they decided to add the Tengu, they could just add Dominion of Winds as their city and dump directly into Caledon forest—then they would only need to make the city, voices, personal story, and cosmetic changes).

That being said, I would rather them put in more rewarding end-game content than another race.

Server — Fort Aspenwood
Mains — Mathias of the Wood [Ranger]; Collaborator Bluatt [Engineer]
Alts — Necromancer, Warrior, Elementalist

well they could have it where there is this league of tengu warriors that want to fight for tyria outside of there walls like this new order the tengu have created this clan or this order or whatever that wants to fight against the new dragon after modremoth and lets say you have to have at least one level 80 to play this race because it starts at level 70 or so. i think they should do it. It would make sense that way.

new race means:
1) 3 tiers of cultural armor
2) tweaking of ALL existing armors to match their models
3) hiring new voice actors
4) writing a script that replaces the entire Personal Story
5) Creating a Home Capital, and a racial 1-15 zone (luckily the 15-25 can be shared by another race as evident in the maguuma)

this is just the tip of the iceberg on the tundra on the planet in the solar system of the amount of work needed

The reason WoW can so easily pump out new races is.. because the races don’t really matter. Functionally WoW only has 2 races, Horde and Alliance, each with a bundle of unique skins. They all follow the same story, they all follow the same script, they both have a capital on both continents.

Also a new race is only for flavor, nothing more. It doesn’t add anything to gameplay.

But imho they could introduce a new race differently like in Pandaria in WoW: just make them separated with their own story and old armor won’t fit. They get their unique sets and new introduced armor sets would have those applicable.

I think a race of necromancers would be pretty awesome.

Another difference is the armor. From descriptions that I’ve seen, it’s “painted on” and mostly doesn’t have 3D. That could affect the speed and ease of applying different armor between different races so that new races can be added without a lot of concern about old armors fitting.

Be careful what you ask for
