I got a portal and no slot, looks like I miss out. Pretty poor form Anet, promising people things and never providing. I never even got any email or details telling me about when it was, I was told only from my guildies

I have The Portal Stone and Subscribe to the newsletter on The HoT Website Still don’t have my beta slot yet.

Glad I didn’t get one now. Looks like getting one still gave you as much chance as everyone else of getting into the beta.

Well at least someone who posted in this thread did get in … I fear I was not that person, though. Maybe next time. I would have loved to give feedback! I watched a guildie stream the first session and I noted a vast improvement to the Mastery UI from what we saw in the stress test. However, it still looks like you have to almost click randomly on it to figure it out and actually apply the points once earned and xp’d up.

I’ll try to get a first hand feel for it if/when I do get into a beta (and I remain hopeful that the way into the next one will be eased for those of us who never got our “guaranteed” invite for this one).

“look into it” means “we’ll do it later” most of the time.

With any luck, the ones who had this problem will be invited automatically for the next one, it’s only fair.

I’m glad they added an additional layer of RNG to the beta. GW2 is really going for the prize of having the most meaningless random chance of any western MMO.

Will there be anything done about this issue? Just out of curiosity.

I farmed for hours for this portal and didn’t get it. I’m now actually kind of glad, because as you can tell, my luck is complete garbage and this probably would’ve happened to me too which would have been demoralizing.

This didn’t happen to me, (didn’t bother farming during the portal event) but kitten what was even the point for the people who did? To then take another gamble and hope their portals worked? I’m hoping Anet does SOMETHING for the players negatively affected by this bug. They spent their time grinding for a guaranteed beta slot, and then made sure they were free for the beta, only to be denied. Please, give these players access to the next beta

Problem solved, apart from a lot of hurt player feelings, but at least they’ll then rest assured they DO get to play a closed beta without doing anything else for it.

I got the below mail from a GM as a reply on the ticket I made:

We’re sorry about what happened with the Portal to Maguuma, the email, and the most recent beta access. We’ve been investigating and learning from this issue to prevent future ones from happening and affecting players like yourself. Although it was not widespread, any impact is still important to us. Again, we apologize and do want to let you know that we’ll work on our future beta access events.

If you have any further questions or concerns regarding this, please don’t hesitate in letting us know.

I managed to get the stone after way to much farming, got the in game mail about congrats, signed up for newsletter and nothing. I submitted a bug report and still nothing. This makes me a little sad and upset

Those of you affected, check your ticket emails. They’ve found the cause (though nebulously defined). It affected a few dozen accounts, and compensation has been offered, albeit not a proactive beta invite.

Which I shall take as a hopeful sign that future betas will be as open as were the BWE’s and that we are moving apace towards launch.

If only I could trade SC2:LotV beta for GW2:HoT. Not much luck recently with alphas/betas :P

I hope the next is open. I farmed every day for 2 solid weeks and didn’t get a portal stone, and I am not the only one in my guild who did the same. There were 4 people in our guild that got the portals with one guy getting two of them. Of those 4, 3 of them only played in Maguuma Wastes for a few hours before getting theirs. I don’t think any of us are willing to go through that grind again.

Hey, I swung it again. That’s great. We just don’t want players to grind in Guild Wars 2. No one enjoys that. No one finds it fun.”
