I’d agree GS feels a bit weak. The huge wind-ups on most attacks don’t seem worth the damage. Flow is pretty bad as well. Trying to combo like GS 5 → 3 → 4 → 2 or any other permutation doesn’t really work most of the time because you’re so slow everything escapes your setup between attacks.

I do like Shroud a lot.
Chill seems like it’s supposed to be a main theme but it doesn’t seem prevalent enough, and it being attached to big CDs for the most part makes it pretty useless at ameliorating the gaps in Reaper gameplay.

Shouts feel very weak for the most part. After playing with them I think back to the livestream where they said they gave them cast times so they wouldn’t be OP and I laugh because even instant cast these shouts don’t seem like they’d be a serious threat to anyone or anything. Especially compared to the Tempest Shouts.

Tempests get shouts that cause burning stacks in a huge area, give 2-3 might, weaken enemies, and give fire aura to them and their allies with traits. Fully traited Reaper shouts do what? -7% CD per enemy hit? That’s absurdly bad. At this rate, Necros are still never going to get dungeon invites because they’re going to be even farther behind on the team utility than they already were.

So my single biggest piece of feedback would be to buff the hell out of Shouts because they are laughable compared to what every single other class gets for Shouts right now.

Necro veteran here replying to you.
After very detailed testing it came clear to me that Dagger is better in PvP than Greatsword. Not only do you hit almost as hard as GS, but also you get much more lifeforce per hit. On a side note you have more chances to hit with a dagger due to faster attacks. Now with the secondary weapon (mine is warhorn) you have more trustworthy utility than with the GS.
Dagger is still the better choice for power builds in PvP., but I can feel GS to be very good in large scale battles WvW and PvE.

About the shouts, the heal is ok. You can also make it cleanse a condition when using soldier rune. I played alot of games as powermancer and if I were to force myself to use the new stuff added I would play with
Dagger/Warhorn; Staff, “Your soul is mine!”, Fleshworm, Well of corruption, “You are all weaklings!”, “Chilled to the bone!”/Lich. (2 stunbreaker, 3 condition cleanse + staff #4, more with consume conditions or secondary dagger) There are many options to play atm and that’s a good thing.

The greatsword is terrible… too slow and the pay-off is just not there.

The shouts are just not worth taking over the wells or spectral utilities.

The heal is really bad… like it could get worse than what we have? Really?

Reaper Shroud is great, but we give up any decent ranged attack in order to get access to it.

Unhappy camper.
