you know what bugs me with the name, it comes really close the revan from star wars.
he was a jedi that became a sith and then became his own, a grey as it’s know by most.
his followers are called revanites, kind of familiar aint it….

As far as the name goes, the Revenant handles about something or someone going back. In a sense, the name also means coming home. Therefore, the Revenants might be some kind of team Rytlock brings back from the mists into Tyria; in the other sense, coming back home to Tyria (or the flesh-y world, if they weren’t tyrians) from the mists.
This leaves possibilities for their own personal story (like the DKs in WoW) in the mists, but probably much shorter than the other, racial, stories.
Now you might say “But Rytlock is the first Revenant in the game, he has to come back alone!” BUT! Noone ever said that Rytlock is the first to actually use revenant-y powers. He might just be the one who first called himself a revenant and the others joined his group afterwards, calling themselves revenants as well.

I’m sure that some of the Lore about the Revenant lies within the Mists. Rytlock must have had a pretty good teacher when he was in the Mists. And I’m pretty sure it had to have been the Rit hero in Guildwars1 Razah. In the 250 years time Razah must have gone back to the Mists to study all he could about the Ritualist profession, because at a time in Guild wars 1 he followed the player everywhere, so before the players demise 250 years ago, He had to have gone back to where home was, and it was the Mists.

So Razah must had to become a teacher of sorts, because one of the skills back in GW1 was Sight beyond Sight, Rytlock can see where he is going with the blindfold on his face, because he has sight beyond sight. And Razah needed a purpose, he must have reinvented a class of Ritualists called Revenants and Rytlock had to been a student of his.

Dear potatos. Judging a class by its cover is somewhat childish. You barley know the lore, you haven’t seen it in action and you haven’t even played it.
