OP, if you are still clicking your skills like I just saw on one of your youtube vids then this would explain why you are having difficulty with the content, sure HoT is harder than vanilla GW2 but you certainly do not need a zerg to get through areas, I’m sorry but this is a learn to play issue.

I’m not sure what relevance my playstyle has to do with my thread and it saddens me that all you could say is ltp. I always find it amusing how many people come on this forum and accuse Anet of not letting them play how they want, yet some of those very people will come on here telling others how they should play. I’m fine playing the way i do. Not that it’s anyone’s business, but i do have problems with my hands due to a car accident and its the only way i can play, but tnx for your input anyway.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

Just to clarify – does this mean you can’t hit keybound keys, on the keyboard, without problems?

If so, I can see how that would make HoT virtually impossible.

Re. gliding: I have the same issue with lag.

What I have to do is keep the space bar held down when I jump (so, don’t release it, at all).

There is still a slight delay, sometimes, but at least it means no more plummeting to your death, without the glider deploying, at all.

I totally agree with you re. too many mobs and mobs respawning constantly.

Even if you are lucky enough to be able to cope with that, physically, it is still annoying, if you can’t even stand still anywhere, for a few seconds, without having to fight.

We need, at least, little safe areas, just to make it less constantly intense.

People would then be able to make it intense, if they wanted, by avoiding any safe areas, but those who wanted to stop and smell the roses (or lilies) would be able to.

If you want to soldier on (pun kind of intended), I would recommend you wear all-Soldier gear (or the equivalent).

It really does help a lot.

Obviously, it makes the fights a little longer, but it really reduces your likelihood of dying and having to run back.

Either way, I totally get where you’re coming from and empathise with your situation.

I also totally agree with you re. small guilds – it’s a travesty, frankly.

My argument is; casual players who dont want to improve their skills and dont like a challenge have all of core tyria maps to play in. Other players like me have HOT maps only.

Except, it doesn’t really work like that, does it?

As these “casuals” also paid for HoT and are also, probably, pretty tired of core Tyria.

If they had produced two HoTs, one easier and/or less intense and one more difficult and/or more intense, you might have a point; but they didn’t.

I’m pretty sure not even new player click their skills.

Depends on the new player. I know quite a few, both new and old players, that still click their skills.

I for the most part agree with the OP.

The main problem I have with the game right now is the overwhelming burden of knowing that as soon as I log in I’m going to be scratching my head trying to figure out what I should do to get any facet of enjoyment from the game itself… I didn’t have this problem with GW2 before HoT was released. The masteries grind is really bad and I think it is one of the worst systems ever put in an MMO. Period. It gets you absolutely nothing other than the ability to traverse an area you have already explored kitten near every inch of slightly more efficiently, and grants you access to sectioned off areas (via ley line gliding) that yield little or no reward, and that is the 2nd major problem I have with this game currently… no sense of reward for your effort. I’m going to work towards getting my Ascended weapon through the collection achievements, but after that I think I’ll be playing something else that rewards me for my time, is fun to play, and has content that is actually content and not just watered down LS events with grinds for cheap weapon/armor skins.

This guy brings up a very important topic about the overall play-ability of GW2. Some may say it’s a chore to play the game, but this is what they may be feeling: A lack of enjoyment from Progression. Starbound: If you know the game, need I comment further on how good the Progression is!? There is a big difference in GW2 Progression compared to a game that has a developer that knows what direction the game should take. ArenaNet has extremely bad Progression/Direction. But don’t think this is a game designed like Blackguards (Said: Blagars. I’ll never under stand it too…) has a very specific Pen & Paper RPG design, Developers know what it “IS” as a game. I know MMO’s are different from such games ‘cause it has to provide content for a massive amount of players than Single or 2-4+(Moba) Multi-Player base. But if you look back on GW2 before the expansion HoT we had content with a more solid direction play-ability wise. Though it is easy to burn through everything we still liked the idea of playing are own way. Yes we can still do that now but with HoT players really cannot do that and still feel rewarded for playing what they want. I love making builds around Ventari’s (Nomads: Toughness, Vitality, Healing Power) stats. Playing against the Mechanics of the game than making it about Damage Per Second is a lot more enjoyable in any game that wants to challenge the player over hand-holding. No matter what anyone thinks GW2 does not favor this play style, even though it gives the option to create such a build. Stats like Ventari’s then shouldn’t be in the game logically if ArenaNet doesn’t want players to play any true Tank & Healer rolls. Raids are not fun to me because of this logic, it should favor all the types of Play-Styles & Game-Play that professions offer players and not intentionally ignore the many cores of Game-Play in GW2.

Thus the whole reasoning behind why I know ArenaNet made and keeps making poor choices for Profession play-ability. One-Line ES’s are a big mistake. What do you think about balancing 5-20 ES’s on 9 professions will affect the total balance of game-play? Nerf the base profession or integrate a major change is bound to break something else because the original 8 professions are not made for this! This bad idea is forced onto professions and it will continue to never change the Core Mechanics, that idea is what ArenaNet envisioned ES’s doing. If ArenaNet took the time to realize that then we would have Elite Professions on top of the profession with the same core theme, this is a better vision of their idea to develop the play-ability of player-characters. Balance should not be more difficult than it should be, like how it is currently. Elite Professions shouldn’t greatly affect the balance of Base Profession Mechanics.

The reasons to quit this game are not only personal dislike it’s also about poor development that makes the game only another MMO. It doesn’t take much to see how poor the state of this game really is. I think Tera has more going for it than GW2 even if their; “Tera Has True Action Combat!” head liner is completely laughable! Gunner has potential but you’ll be wishing for the quick reaction time GW2 combat has.

By now ArenaNet should know they are destroying their game and it will take 1-2 years minimum to fix the damage done then many more to get back the community they once had.

10/10 – Makes me sure I don’t want to hope again for GW2.

I loved the 3 hours mastery grinding to unlock a 8 minute story mission.

I only log on for raids.
…and thats very minimal.
I hope you guys plan to release lots more of these in a timely manner.

I already have lots of characters with full asc, tons of rare skins/legendaries and plenty of money from when the game was good. Not investing in the new legendaries because of all the bugs revolved around them atm. Bottom line, the rich are still rich. Only people really feeling the burn of these econ changes are those that didnt already have stuff and you removed ways for them to catch up.

When game first came out and I heard dungeons would scale you to their lvl, ensuring they were always relevant, I thought it was the greatest thing ever. I thought ‘in years time this game will actually have more content than WoW just because they were smart enough to keep it all relevant’. Nope! Nothing new and John Smith wrecked most of this games repeatable content. Both in the fun/reliable ratio, and for low lvl mats/gold/even gambling for ectos/forge with tokens.

Got to frac lvl 100. Rewards suck. Really badly. Because of this, was hard for my group to always have a full group, had to pug some people in higher lvls because not enough of our actual friends could afford or care enough about the AR gate only for chievs.

Tangled Depths sucks. Dont think I need to explain that anymore.

I agree about the story. I didnt ‘hate’ it, but.. everyone I did it with expected what happened to be drawn out into the next LS3 or something. It did feel rushed at the end.

Guild halls/scribe stopped being fun the day after we captured the hall with various guilds. I could fill an actual guild hall with actual crafted crumby wood furniture and pumpkins in less time. I say that with confidence as someone that is def not a carpenter.

The 2 meta events being the main way for ‘endgame progression’ ie: masteries, which require hours of taxi-gating at low graphics to minimize your odds of DC, also suck. If only there was a fun/rewarding/reliable way to get these with my friends like.. say.. new dungeons? Fail.

WvW is fail. Even less enticed to spend money on server trans than I was before. Really wish this was tied to guilds I was in or something, anything. Also, rewards still suck.

sPvP as an eSport is bad. The ranking system is awful, the game modes are boring (even more to watch); please focus more on simple/fun instead of weird gimicky maps that most hardcore pvpers in this game avoid.

Ive had plenty of friends that purchased HoT and never logged back in.
Ive also convinced a handful of friends that’ve seen me logged on during raids not to purchase HoT because I knew they’d be in the same boat.
