This mission I’ve tried about 15 times probably. Fails all the time. Feels like I’ll never get my Mistward Headwrap. I dont wanna be all whining but the thing is I do everything right. People start to get the hang of what to do on the lanes now, the problem is the Chak Gerent, It’s way too hard to kill. I’ve only been to a lane with enough DPS once (another lane failed that time).
The Gerent’s health/defence needs a nerf.
It’s great to have challanging events in game, it’s just that there are rewards locked behind this one and i can’t do it alone.

Nah, the real problem is that people just avoid anything harder than the Frozen Maw. To be fair, there’s less and less people doing anything in Maguuma every day, a couple in VB because it’s easy, maybe a DS meta once in a while, but it looks like it’s all slowly but surely dying.

The gerent itself doesn’t need a nerf as you can burn it down very quickly.

What they need to do is to work on the scaling so a group of less than 80 players have a reasonble chance at completing it and also for Nuhoch lane’s events.

Swapping its attack phases so it does the rock ceiling thing when its bar is broken would help. Currently there’s no incentive to break its bar and some people are trying to figure out the best time to start letting SCAR lane’s NPC’s die so the event doesn’t go beyond level 1.

I expect they’ll make some changes to the meta event in the patch tomorrow. Wait till then before rioting.

I had a very successful map yesterday, except we failed because the mushroom spores stopped spawning on Nuhoch, like, they killed all the mushrooms and what not, but no spore spawns to get the Gerent out.

I was on SCAR, and we managed to burn it down to 15% with 2 burn phases, so dps is no issue imo.

What we did do on that map that seemed to help, is limit the number of people on Nuhoch to 15 max, to prevent scaling. We had maybe 20 max on SCAR, everyone else went to Rata or Ogre.

We need an organized group like what the TTS guild did for Tequatl to get everyone learning the mechanics better.

You don’t really need a guild to get people learning the mechanics better. In fact, we’ve had guilds constantly try but people do not listen. There’s no way to fix that and many of the guilds are succeeding only because they can get the map to consist mostly of their members who will listen.

The events you do for each lane really are not that difficult. A simple explanation, normally given during organized runs anyway, is all that is necessary. No TS is required as killing one lane’s gerent doesn’t impact the other lanes.

The biggest issue is getting everyone on the map to help set up so everyone is split evenly between the lanes. After that, the next issue is getting people not to use CC. I know it’s counter-intuitive but simply asking players not to should be enough. There’s just some players that either don’t want to listen or don’t know a thing about what their skills do and they’ve been mashing their keys all of this time. It kind of explains what you see with most ranger who constantly use knock backs. There may be more possibilities but that’s all that I can think of.

Could also be how they’re populating maps Ive had many that are empty cause of this issue

Yup. I’m still not convinced the cc thing rally matters, but that is really besides the point. The biggest barrier is participation.

I would argue the real issue is the fixed schedule, which is much too long.

For me its pvp rotations making me use my stun on the wrong time sometimes, But random button mashing sounds more logical.

Gerent itself is fine.

Things that are not fine:
1. Scaling on Nuhoch lane defense event (impossible to complete with 35+ people)
2. Pre-event bonuses do not work so we basically fight handicapped.

If Anet fixed these issues fight will be more manageable and even possible on more or less random pug maps.

when you say Gerent is fine, can you show some video of a group burning it down by the time limit at SCAR lane? I’ve tried with small and large groups, all have failed.

you can find some on youtube (form [LUCK] or gw2community).
If people in nuoch are competent (properly smashing an killing srooms and no1 is overscaling it) SCAR lane is by far the hardest, because even with the no CC strat the lane has auto-CC from the Charrs you are protecting.
We are actually seriously thinking to let them die after first phase (fill first bar to lure out the gerent) so that the CC is less frequent / potent. I’ll try this evening and let you know.

I don’t think its the Gerent that is the problem. The issue is… everything else.

#1: Even is located on the most confusing map in the game. Players don’t know where to go, what is going on, or what is relevant.
#2: Conveyance is horrible. I’m still not sure what to do in each lane.
#3: It is a long investment. The entire meta event requires global map cooperation from start to finish, so any player who wants to clear the event has to clear their schedule for the whole thing.
#4: It is hard to organize. Getting everybody onto the same map cooperating is extremely difficult. The maps are still filled with explorers and hero point hunters, so while you’re setting up the event there’s about 5 people leading different groups to different HPs.
#5: Everybody is already turned off of the event due to how hard it is.
#6: Other than the achievements, there’s no clear reward for even doing the event in the first place.

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

Surely there is SOME kind of reward. Other than collections that is

Honestly, I firmly believe we need a temporary guild for the sole purpose of organizing a map. Ala TTS with tequatl. And yes, I understand that “isn’t necessary,” except in the beginning it WAS necessary for Tequatl – it was in large part because of guilds like TTS that people did learn and master Tequatl, at least as fast as it was. I know they helped ME and some of my friends learn the mechanics.

And now Tequatl is somewhat trivial.

The thing is, with the time investment, there needs to be reward adequate to the time investment, otherwise people will just do Tequatl and ignore the meta events once they got their collections/achievements/etc.

Anyway, so we need something like The Tangled Depths Detanglers (TDD) or some such to at least get the ball rolling.

….

……

its all super fine, how people are always much talking, but doign in the end nothing than pushing out alot of hot air, that helps nobody…

People don’t care about how many times someone has done it already successfully.
People dont care about it if the scaling is fine or not …

Currently theres just only one thing most peopel care for, because there is a massive lack of understanding the meta…. thats why it always fails nearly instantly so fast, because HoT is still just roughly ONLY 1 month old and there are still WAY too much clueless people on the map and way too less people actively on the map, because people are rather preferrign to participate on the easier to understand meta events on either VB, AB or DS, which don’t require such absurd ridiculous super map coordination that goes even far beyond the required coordination of going to kill the tri- wurm due to havign too coordinate in a small time window 4 lines simultanously, where just a slightest mistake in one of the lanes directly leads to the punishing fail of the complete event.

What the game needs is following thigns to get the meta running:

1 ) A much better incentive to do the Meta Event, as its by far from all metas in Hot the hardest one, so it should be also the most rewarding one to give players a much better incentive to participate on a regular basis in the meta and do coordinated full maps whenever the meta comes on a regular basis
2) For that to happen, anet has to fix the Mega Server System, HoT gives you the feeling, as if far lesser people have bought Hot, than Anet might have expected. At least you absolutely don’t have yet the feeling, as if HoT fels like beign End Content and everyone id doign their best to make the metas successfully, because most of the people are still doing tons of other distracting things, like HP hunting, mastery farming in dungeons ect. but most peopel are absolutely not concentrated at all right now to do actively the meta events and thats what hurts the game the most, because they were al from scratch designed not to scale down and to be done by full coordinated maps. and as long you have there a full map, but with the half map full of Afking people and ignorant people that don’t care for it at all to help at the meta events, because they will most likely fail anyways liek in the case of TD, whats a player mentality issue, then nothing will ever change about this.

Making up designated guilds especially for only doing these super meta events is just a band aid solution to bring the community more back on the coordinated right path..

Howeve,r what I think is alot more neccessary and helpful for everybody is EDUCATION in regard of spreading the inforamtion about the event, what exactly has to be done when and where to do this TD meta event successfuly.

Post Guides with pictures, videos ect. pp, that show people exactly what is to do in each of the lanes, like peopel did that with Tequatl in the past also too, where people that learned how to do the event successfully spreaded their knowledge, posted guides everywhere that explain the clear strategy to success, because so more people are educated about that strategy and know, what is when and where exactly to do, so higher will raise the chances of success and so quicker will we reach the state in the game, where this meta event will be more constantly like by now Tequatl a success, because.

How did people scream out load at the beginning of the new Tequatl design, how impossile the new design is and how difficult it is ect. pp.
Until people figured out how to overcome that new challenge, spread the information sto share their wisdom and become better together.
The exact same thign with the introduction of the Tri Wurm… what did we curse at anet for how hard they are at the beginning.
By now the battle is trivial, because everybody knows exactly what to do, when and where..peopel educated thenmself, spread their knowdlge, posted guides everywhere with proof that they were successful that way b directly demonstratign it with also a video attached to the guides

Thats what we need now. Once the knowledge sharing and more active organization becomes better and more, then its just a matter of time, until people will trivialize the TD meta events also too, like we did with tequatl and tri wurm in the past.
In the end its just a learning and active participation issue, because as long you don#t have either not enough players on the map willing to participate in the meta event, , nor enough people that know exactly what to do in their lanes, the event will fail.

Thats the point on what we as a community have to work on together to change this situation and not hope for event nerfs and what not all to hope for it ,that anet makes it easier for us, just because we seem to be unable to do, what we already did in the past with Tequatl and Tri Wurm suddely…

just my 2 cents

But you cannot compare Teq or Triple Trouble to this event,

Yes when them events went live people did complain then guides came out etc on what to do, Teq can be easily done with pugs now, but TT has no chance with pugs, that still requires a dedicated map and usually a TS server to even have a chance.

But regardless, when these events where introduced there was no Dry Top, Silverwastes, VB, AB, DS, all of these maps offer better rewards and a higher success rate, and given the server rotation of meta’s either DS, AB or VB will spawn close to or at the same time as DT, and no one wants to go to an event that will likely fail when they can go get there loot from one of the others,

Given that ANET have not even acknowledged a problem with TD and nothing in the patch notes today im guessing there taking the stance of screw you, and if people want to even have a remote chance in hell at getting this event you need to log onto a dedicated TS server for either NA or EU and just sit and wait, and hope you can get taxi’d in before the glitched megaserver says NO WAY server is full with 50 people.

Ive enjoyed all of HoT so far but this is the biggest kick in the teeth from Anet.
