Taunt is bad
One, the player has no way of avoiding other than dodging .
The second the player can’t dodge but can be removed by a good support ally.
There is very little in this game that cannot be dodged. If we can often dodge attacks that would cause Fear, we have no reason to assume that we have could not dodge attacks that would cause Taunt.
And just as there are ways for an ally to help with conditions, there are ways for an ally to help with Pull (stability and etc). Support is weak in GW2 not because Taunt doesn’t exist yet, rather due to the encounter design we have that rewards dodging and DPS more than anything else.
let’s not jump the gun and declare this bad before it’s even been seen in action.

Now all they need to do is make support/healing worth something and balanced on all classes that have healing and bam people might actually not have to be all Zerker all the time anymore and there would be strategies! GASP! OMG someone might actually have to think!
Sorry, no, I’m going to need to stop you right there. Taunt has nothing to do with Trinity. Not a single thing. It’s just a reverse fear effect. It isn’t an agro mechanic. There is still no agro mechanic in GW2, therefore no trinity. Sorry, please move on.

OMG yes people will have to think! Tank stands in a place and button mashes keyboard, following optimal rotation to keep threat while sleeping, Healer on the other side of the mob, tries to keep tank alive by pressing a couple of healing skills while eating dinner, while carefully trying to avoid passing the tank in the Threat counter.
DPS characters just follow their rotation while semi-afk. OMG such pro skillz and tactics! GASP so much thinking!

I know you are trying to be sarcastic and all, but I will advise you to carefully read your sarcastic post before posting it public,
Because your words may have the opposite intent for your goal.
The video is a response to the post claiming “there is no thinking” in the game. He was also claiming that trinity will make people “think more”, while it certainly won’t, trinity has the opposite effect in “thinking”.

Where is this #1 smashing zerker zerg meta? Oh wait I thought we were discussing serious content, with all the talk about tanks and healers and such.
Next time you exit town to kill your 10 pirates or 20 spiders, be sure to pack your tank and healer with you. Oh wait you don’t need them at all outside serious content.

If by support you mean “watching red bars go left/right” then you are right. If by support you mean actually Supporting the team with buffs then you are wrong, Support isn’t weak at all in this game, in fact it’s THE king.
How about boss taunting player out of stack or in area effect. Taunts aren’t only given to players mobs will have it and if its common it might change stacking.
What’s the difference between a boss taunting a player into an area effect, or a boss using Pull to bring a player into an area of effect? In both situations, the enemy is interrupting whatever it is the player is doing and moving the player closer to itself.
The same difference between launch and fear. That and autoattacking.
Pretty obvious to me.
I can see that taunt with an exaggerated retalition effect could be pretty nice.

There are people that equate a taunt = WoW? Talk about needing to get your head out of your kitten . MMO’s and even single player RPG’s both before and after WoW have had taunt mechanics.

Since when 5 people are considered zerg? I believe you see no difference between zerk (from berserker’s) and zerg (from starcraft race). Those two terms are not related in any way. Zerk → pve, zerg → wvw.
