I have finally figured out the real logic behind HoT and it is sadly and simply corporate greed. Think about it. In order to “level”, one must partake in “group events”. There is not a lot of “soloing” here. Easy completion of said “group events” requires a lot of people to have purchased the game. Easier completion of said “group events” requires you to try and get people to purchase the game. Say what you want about Blizzard and their $15 dollar a month fee to play (another form of corporate greed), but at least they are up front about it. Yes friends, the real logic behind HoT is corporate greed. This is America in 2015. I would love for someone from ArenaNet to respond to this post, but they are probably too busy counting their money. They will probably simply lock the thread. be seeing you.

That’s not how human psychology works. I really dislike this entertainment product because it isn’t fun, so I’ll tell my friends to come play it also? Not going to happen, and no marketing strategy by anyone sane would rely on such.

No, the current issue with HoT appears to be the result of the developer trying to please too many different groups with one type of play.

Elitist gamers are not the smartest bunch. If they could talk everyone in the world to buy HoT in order to help them kill a “boss”, they would. be seeing you.

That’s so far out right I’ll have to travel to England.

As well as what Indigo said – who’s pretty much bang on the money – if there aren’t enough players to do these events, they would have to be toned down, unless the players that are playing leave because they’re not making any progress themselves.

Personally I’ve found a lot of the events doable with a small group of players. Everyone’s mileage may vary on this however.

No, ‘corporate greed’ would Anet selling insta-Mastery XP and insta-Elite Spec unlocks, and raising the requirements to levels higher than they are now to pretty much force you to buy them to get them in a reasonable amount of time.

Calling out corporate greed has nothing to do with being either left or right. be seeing you.

It’s a figure of speech. It’s means you’re far off track with your point and it doesn’t make too much sense.

Nah, I think the “real logic,” especially as it pertains to hero points, is they wanted a way to make them a useful feature, rather than useless, and they settled on tying them into the new specs. Problem is, it made a lot of people angry and it still leaves excess hero points useless once you have the spec unlocked.

Or words to that effect.

I would love for someone from ArenaNet to respond to this post, but they are probably too busy counting their money. They will probably simply lock the thread. be seeing you.

Think the real logic in a mmo is to play with people. Its a massive multiplayer game not a rpg. And logically a company wants to make money so nothing wrong with that. If it was “corporate greed” there would be pay to win items in the gemstore like 2000 gems for auto leveling masteries or ascended items etc. lol

One can play with others, but one should also be able to solo. Blizzard always got this right, GW2 got it right, but HoT failed. be seeing you.
