Wanna Bet?
I don’t think I could give an accurate number, but I don’t expect to be able to play a steady game until at least Sunday. I’ve taken Monday and Tuesday off in preparation anyway.
I will be thoroughly pleased if it’s stable at launch, but that’s not realistic for any game release/super patch.
None. The game will be fully stable and perfect. We’ll be able to download the day before release too so no waiting either.
Or, by lunchtime Friday my head will be purple with rage and there’ll be so many kittens in the air my house will have a Parental Advisory sticker on it. By teatime the Halloween patch will be clashing with the expansion causing so many bugs and exploits ANet will have no choice but to close down all servers until further notice.
I imagine we’ll be somewhere between those two scenarios, hopefully closer to the first one.
My guess is one patch per hour for the first two days so forty eight.
Welcome to the Internet, exposing characters since the early 80’s.
Over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday? By ANet’s time zone to measure the days?

I may like to laugh at their QA from time to time, but I’d like to think they’re on the ball with this one. And any bigger fixes will take a couple of days to work out, anyway.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Enough that I’m justified in skipping headstart to drive four hours and watch Shakespearean actors bodyslam each other. :P
..At least, that’s what I’m telling myself for missing headstart.

24 between launch and the next day, and maybe a big one the third day.
that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

i bet.. 1.
the fact that theyre pushing squad ui and raids out till post-release indicates they want launch to be stable, im guessing they’ll disable things rather than have to mess with the servers too much.
Too many changes all at once. New WvW maps/reset changed to Saturdays, Halloween event, Entire new zone, and the biggies new classes/specs.
Too much to go wrong in too short a time-frame. I am cautiously optimistic that perhaps we will only lose 6-ish hours over the weekend.
The answer is always, 42
ANet may give it to you.
While i dont really agree with most of the recent decisions ANet has made regarding many aspects of the future of this game, I can definitely appreciate the hard work they are putting behind everything they release. They might be slow at it, but when something comes out, it’s generally never broken in any kind of crazy way.
I’m pretty confident that there won’t be anything ‘’game breaking’’ like symbolic avenger and that they allocated sufficient ressources to be able to cope with the surge of returning players.
My guildies always joke about the incoming patches, but we value ANet’s hard work to fix everything. We’re always so very proud to say the company has such a great team to fix stuff in lightspeed.
I’m going to guess 10, of varying sizes.
And yeah, it’s fully understandable that this sort of thing will happen, I’m just going to try making sure that I’m not playing anything that’s too frustrating if you get kicked before it ends for the first little while after release.
