Why link HoT accounts?

Q:

There’s enough topics complaining about the price, and I will say, I too am really kitten MAD about them.

But I will step aside from that main complaint, leaving it to those threads, because there’s really a major underlying issue behind the price I want to adress.

So a new player gets the whole package for $50, that’s great.

If a current player does the same for $50, we get a serial code for that same package the new player gets.

If we use it on our current account, most of us are assuming we’ll get access to HoT content with our current characters, and no other benefits.

If I instead use that code to make a NEW account, I would get the 5 base character slots that come on a new account, AND I would get to keep everything that’s in my old account.

Aside from getting to keep account bound items and having sentimental attachment to my current characters, I have absolutely no incentive to bother linking my HoT and Base game accounts.

Really, I should be getting FIVE character slots added to my base account for linking, because I actually get those slots for NOT linking my accounts.

So if the expansion costs $50, hey that may actually be a fair price, we have yet to see the content and there might very well be $300 worth of it in the new areas.

But HoT’s currently shown pricing scheme is basically that of a sequel, not an expansion. Treating HoT as if it were Gw3, and letting it have it’s own account while keeping my Gw2 account around is a much better deal then combining everything into one account. THAT is the problem here.

Give me a kitten reason/incentive to actually link my accounts together, that’s all I’m really asking for.
