We’ll be holding our first stress test for the new World vs. World desert Borderlands on July 9 from 2:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time (UTC-7). This test will be conducted on a special server with limited space and will be by special invitation only.

Did they forgot about this, or am I missing something?
2 Months and still no word on the announced stress test ; I am looking forward to see some gameplay into this map.

But talking seriously, the announcment states that it would feature the most active wxw players (Like invited players to a closed server for tests), so I am already out of the pool either way, but at least I could watch some gameplay footage on youtube

But buying the HoT pre-sale said it guranteed all future beta tests.

Probably not DBZ cause this is a “stress test” not a “beta” it’s all in the wording.

I mean, yeah, if you threw a minimum of $50 towards a game you know relatively nothing about so far, you should be invited to the smallest of stress tests, it’s the least they can do. But you won’t get that kind of treatment, cause you are just a “$” and if they already have your money, what incentive do they have to please you?

LMAO they could technically just have lots of “stress tests” and just have one actual “beta” and just give you access to that one cause it’s the only technical “beta” hahahahaha

Because, to my knowledge, the Desert BL will not be a HoT thing. I do believe it is just going to be a general Add-on for all GW2 owners.

It says nothing at all about all tests. It specifically names Beta Weekend Events. Beta Weekend Events is not stress test, nor is it every single beta test ever.
It is Beta Weekend Events.

They can invite me. I volunteer to be the PvE person doing crafting then wandering out on the map, cluelessly, until I get killed. I’ll even be upleveled and undergeared PvE person.

It’s a hard job but someone has to do it.

can people that pre- purchased get into it automatically? if so im a little confused , because i thought pre-purchase was suppose to give access to betas and stuff.

As has been said in the other threads on the stress test, the pre-purchase gives access to beta weekends and this is neither a beta nor a weekend.

Who pre-purchase gain “Access to All Beta Weekend Events”
Next week will be a Stress Test, not a BWE, so no we won’t get it it automatically.

One of the reasons I prepurchased was for the beta access. I will be very upset if prepurchase owners are not part of the “special invitations”

Those who pre-purchased, they have your money already anyway so they have very little incentive to care about what you think.

The upcoming test is not a Beta Weekend Event. It is a stress test.

Beta Weekend Event != Stress test.
Beta Weekend Event != Every beta test ever.
Beta Weekend Event == Beta Weekend Event.

The beta access you got was for beta weekends when large numbers are wanted. This is a stress test. They only want a few people, because they are testing the server.

But it’s a “stress test” not like it’s a “beta” or anything…..

Here’s my prediction, they will have dozens of “stress tests” and those of you who threw money at ANet won’t get invited cause it’s not technically a “beta” LOL in fact they will probably have one “beta” before the game launches!

They had the EXACT same system before launch.
It ended up being a couple of stress tests, some closed beta tests and THREE Beta Weekend Events. I would say that it is somewhat likely that we will have a similar system now.

You can’t say anything, that’s making a huge ASSUMPTION which doesn’t exactly corrrelate to FACT.

Illogical logic is illogical.

And due to WvW map limitations they likely want to try to keep the numbers of actual participants high and not those just wanting to get a sneak peak at the new WvW map.

Which means they’re likely targeting players who have been fairly active in WvW.

WvW maps aren’t like other maps. They don’t generate overflows.

The only thing that we know is NOTHING, so ANYTHING is a possibility ;-)

Yes, it’s a stress test. Stress tests only have a relatively few people because they are testing how the brand new map handles having a map with some people on it. The beta weekends are the “everyone come on over” times, used to check for bugs as well as seeing how the server handles high populations. Totally different tests and different requirements.

Well, we know for a fact that they have made a rather clear distinction between betas, stress tests and Beta Weekend Events in the past.
Thus it is logical and likely that they would also do the same in this case.

Reading “Access to All Beta Weekend Events” as “access to every single test ever” is on the other hand not really all that logical.

Stress test is a kind of beta, though. :P

Doesn’t change the fact that they nowhere guarantee access to every single beta test.

Announced WvW Stress Test, will only be available to select invitees. Wait, didn’t I buy access to all beta events with HoT prepurchase?

Intellectually, I know there are limited resources, and getting very valuable data on the new WvW maps is vitally important. So I can’t fault the first reveal of the new maps as being very limited and controlled access.

But let me tell you what it feels like, emotionally. Bad. Really bad. Like I was cheated. Like Arenanet is hiding behind lawyerese “we define words differently than normal people” nonsense.

Whatever, it’s not worth getting upset over. But Arenanet, you need to get your stuff together and figure out a communication strategy that actually works, because you are just failing miserably right now and making amateur mistakes.

However, I can understand some kind of upset if people who didn’t pre-purchase get invited over people who did. But the full details of how invites will be given out haven’t been mentioned yet, so let’s hold on to our seats for a short while.

I would of thought they were more or less one of the same, i pre purchased, i have a beta slot in my character screen, i expect to be able to use it for any stress/beta test.

But it feels like the same kind of lawyer talk nonsense like “you didn’t actually buy that ebook, you’re just licensing it and we can delete it from your reader when we want” or “unlimited* mobile data (*not really unlimited)” that people get legitimately up in arms about.

Adding terms and conditions and exceptions to something after the fact isn’t how you keep hype and good feelings about a coming expansion.

But they didn’t suddenly make stress tests no longer eligible for all pre-purchasers. The beta access was clearly for beta weekend events from day 1. So I don’t see where you’re getting the “after the fact” from.

Except the WvW stress tests were talked about before HOT was available for prepurchase, and in their news article it was specifically mentioned that for the first one at least it would be invite only to hardcore wvw players. So they didn’t add terms and conditions after the fact, it was well before. WvW stress tests link.

I’m not sure why it isn’t clear the first 2 times I said this:
